Providing the right accoutrement for each workout can have a significant impact to our experience from a sartorial and practical perspective. SOUL CYCLE 

When it comes to a physically demanding class like soul cycle it’s important to opt for breathable separates. For example a quality sports bra paired with matching leggings can relieve some of the burden of excessive sweating. For socks, try sweat absorbing material which will motivate you to finish the class minus any unwelcome distractions. After the workout, wear a hoodie to allow the muscles to cool down gradually. 

MARATHON GIRL 

More than any other athletic leisure activity, running requires some deal of wardrobe preparation. As with any other outdoor workout you need to equip with an all-weather zip up that you can don over your tank top. Try a technical long-sleeve top that can easily be removed during cool down. For leggings, choose a pair with compression past the ankles for a speed run or a longer marathon. 

HOT YOGA 

In a class like hot yoga you know you’re going to sweat a ton so it’s important to wear breathable clothing like soul cycle but also loose enough that will allow you to strengthen, and unwind. Start with a tank and leggings and throw on a loose t-shirt on top that you can take off when it starts to get too hot for comfort. 

DANCE CLASS

Whether it’s Zumba, Barrecore or a fun hip-hop infused class weight-shifting movements that put the core to work demand a particular set of clothing. For example a leotard with built-in support and the sense of freedom to move as you please. For bottoms a pair of leggings, ballerina tights and sweats will do the trick. Remember to dance barefoot, with rubber soled socks or trainers to avoid slippery floors.

One of the most classic resolutions for the New Year is always fitness related. A few of us want to shed a few pounds, others want to get toned then there are those that simply want to feel more healthy and happy. (Exercise releases all of those serotonins - the happy hormones after all!) But like a lot of things in life thankfully no one size fits all. 


The Runner 

You may be a die-hard running fan. You like exercising outdoors exploring new sceneries and meeting new people whilst enjoying the exercise.

Avec la nouvelle année, viennent les bonnes résolutions. L'incontournable "je vais me mettre au sport" est dans la liste depuis au moins 2009. Oui mais, cette année c'est différent. On commence par la base, à savoir bien choisir ses leggings. Ça s'appelle la motivation ! 


On en finit avec cette manie de recycler les vieux t-shirts importables en tenue de sport et on s'équipe correctement. Si l'idée même de s'habiller pour un rendez-vous nous motive, alors on applique la meme méthode au sport ! Cqfd. 

Une jolie brassière, des leggings qui font des super fesses, la bonne paire de baskets... Bref, des vêtements dans lesquelles vous êtes bien, confortable et pleine d'assurance. En plus vous pourrez toujours les porter pour bruncher le dimanche, même si votre seule activité consistera à vous procurer un smoothie.

A new year doesn't necessarily have to mean a new you - but a better you. We all make these very ambitious resolutions near December 31st that we rarely keep past the first few weeks of January, so this year we suggest taking time to make realistic projections, for a better edition of you! Before you sign up for every single workout class close to your apartment or office why not prioritise the workouts that actually make you happy and that you're more likely to follow all year long? From a zumba class, to ballet and barrecore, HIIT training or Hot Yoga, there's definitely a class for you. 


Moving from office to the gym and bag means that you have to do it in style. And though a tiny bag might be appealing (thank you Kendall Jenner!) might not be practical for you. If you have a locker at the gym feel free to sport a fanny pack or tiny bag. It will actually save you the trouble of carrying your bag from the office or at least you can sport it to after gym drinks with ease. On the other hand, you can also go for a more classic choice of an oversized duffle bag where you can store your energy drink, protein bar, towels and a clean set of clothes. Giving the gift of a head start on a ‘get fit’ New Year’s resolution or registering a loved one’s favourite sport is a brilliant move. Not only will they think of you (and silently thank you) as they pull on their new gear come January, you’re setting them up for a happier and healthier 2018. That surely trumps anything else they’re likely to receive and might even spur them to try something new or on to greater goals. And after such a party-focused and indulgent holiday, it’s welcome relief.  


If you know their size, new training tights or trainers will keep runners on track. A new football or basketball will lead to fun and social workouts, and who wouldn’t like their own personal weights or yoga mat to use at home or at the gym. It’s much more hygienic. Everyone can use a reusable water bottle, which is better for the environment than throwaway plastic ones, and the subliminal motivation to drink more water; while a Fitbit will tell the time and monitor their progress. For those who like sports but don’t necessarily participate, a team jersey is a great way to expand their wardrobe so they can fly their fan flag with pride.

Some women happily shimmy into theirs at the first hint of frost, while others would rather freeze than cover their legs in tights of any shape or form. And to all intents and purposes it’s perfect tight weather right now, being both bitingly cold and snowy at times. Pulling on a pair of 100 deniers or Uniqlo’s heat tech styles means you don’t have to sacrifice warmth for style- so flirty mini skirts, dreamy dresses and thin trousers can be worn with confidence. For the waistband and gusset haters among us, stockings and ankle socks also do the job and there’s a particularly wonderful selection of decorative hosiery to play with this winter. From lace to fishnet, sparkly to block coloured, some pairs are admittedly more for show but your outfit will be all the more fabulous for it. 


On the flip side, this extra warmth does come at a cost: sweaty legs, coloured legs that potentially ruin an outfit’s carefree mood and, of course, constant hole and ladder watch. Not wearing tights at all eliminates these risks and only requires an extra dollop of moisturiser before venturing out. And Scousers and Essex girls really take pride in their no-tights-under-any-circumstances (or coats) reputation. This hard-core approach to winter dressing is for the ultra-brave and the cold immune. Like Victoria Beckham and even royal bride-to-be Meghan Markle perhaps, judging by her star engagement announcement turn when she flaunted her lithe, yoga honed legs outside uncovered.

There's nothing like sharing your life with a special someone but there's even more to celebrate when you have your fabulousness only to rely on to survive and also have fun. So whether you're in a relationship or not take the time tomorrow (it's a Saturday after all) to dedicated time for yours truly. Schedule a yoga lesson, read your favourite book, light some candles and do a DIY facial and beauty routine. Go for a long walk, or spend the day at a spa. At the end of the day make a note on all the things that made you especially happy and maybe consider dedicating a specific part of your week, day or month to indulge in those activities that make you happy.

During the cold chilly months of Winter it can be hard to find the motivation to go for a jog or make a trip to the gym. But think how easy it could be to do a simple workout at home! It saves a trip in the freezing outdoors and you can keep warm in the comfort of your own space. Start by creating that extra bit of space within your home where you can do your workout. I tend to think the living room or your bedroom is the best place, given that you have enough room to move around. Next, you want to create a schedule whereby you set aside a bit of time during the day to complete your workout. This could be anything from ten minutes, half hour or even an hour. It all depends on how much extra time you have and how much time you want to spend exercising. Additionally, you can do a longer workout on one day of the week and a shorter workout on a day that you are much busier on. The type of workout you want to complete it totally up to you. Personally, I stick to some simple stretches, lunges and squats. However, you can do a more energetic workout or even a peaceful yoga session if that is more your style. Now here are a motivation tips to get you going! 1. Get a workout buddy! The best way to complete a workout is to have someone else doing it with you. This means that instead of giving up or not bothering you will be encouraging each other. 2. Buy some new exercise kit If you buy some new fitness essentials you are more likely to want to try them out and do a bit of exercise. So treat yourself to some snazzy gym gear and get into that workout mood! 3. Listen to when your body needs a workout Undoubtedly, doing a bit of exercise every day does wonders for out bodies and our health, so it is best to try and work out when your body needs that extra boost. Often we will tell ourselves that we are too tired or we will put it off until another day, but if we realise when our bodies need some exercise we are more likely to get into a steady routine. To sum up, don't worry about the shorter days and the darker evenings, it's all about maintaining the same motivation about exercise as we would in the Summer!
