We can finally say it: Hooray it has arrived! The big Black Friday that we've been waiting, praying and saving up for, is finallyt here! And though we have covered most topics that include gift shopping for the men in our lives, our kids, and our individual fashion cravings there's an area that is mostly beneficial during this sales period: Beauty. 


Speaking of beauty we mean the umbrella that also holds makeup, cleansing, protecting the skin but also wellness products. It's truly astonishing the amount of money a woman has got to spend on decent beauty products and skincare. With Christmas only a few weeks away our bodies and our appetites are already craving for all the yummy delicacies that will be on the Christmas Day and boxing day table. From Christmas pudding to hot soups, turkey stuffing and hefty amounts of wine, holiday eating habits can be tough to shake off come New Year. So. it comes as no surprise as many amp up their game at the gym before the festivities. 


London is truly the mecca of gym and athletic leisure activities. Go for a Krav Maga class and burn some calories while learning to defend yourself. You have probably been hearing about the benefits of turmeric for a while now and you might have been intrigued to try a cup of turmeric latte, the bonified staple drink of the health conscious. Its recipe is quite simple, actually. Take a batch of cold-pressed turmeric juice and mix it with almond, cashew or coconut milk. Before you switch your morning tea or coffee brew to the golden milk (as it's also referred) we take a look at the benefits of turmeric. 


Youthful Clear Skin 


Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties that fight the skin's tendencies for redness and irritation while its anti-bacterial qualities make it perfect for protecting against acne and blemishes. 


Brain Power 


Turmeric produces curcumin which has a number of medicinal properties. It's known to protect against Alzheimer's disease by increasing memory function is also promotes the repair of brain cells. 


Muscle pain 


Curcumin also protect against muscle pain including joint pain and arthritis. So it's perfect for gym newbies. 


Anti-Infection 


Its anti-inflammatory properties make turmeric one of the perfect hot drinks when fighting a cold. Also due to its anti-parasitic qualities it can help prevent stomach ulcers and reduce infection in the gut. 


Fights Depression 


According to researchers, curcumin can aid in managing depression, without the possible side effects of  anti-depressive medicine. 


Reduces Cholesterol

So whether you're in a relationship or not take the time tomorrow (it's a Saturday after all) to dedicated time for yours truly. Schedule a yoga lesson, read your favourite book, light some candles and do a DIY facial and beauty routine. Go for a long walk, or spend the day at a spa. At the end of the day make a note on all the things that made you especially happy and maybe consider dedicating a specific part of your week, day or month to indulge in those activities that make you happy.

Christmas time is a great excuse to overindulge. It's the one time of year when it's completely acceptable to have mince pies and prosecco before 10am. After a week of eating everything sweet, laced in butter and full of preservatives, drinking all the eggnog, mulled wine and champagne, we're all in need of a serious health kick. But where to start? Follow our handy guide below...



1. Set Realistic Resolutions 

New Year's resolutions that are farfetched, like losing three stone in a few months or completely changing your diet, set you up for failure. Instead, set yourself smaller goals that are easier to accomplish, then build on them. Signing up to two yoga classes a week, drinking 1 litre more of water a day, eating your 5 a day.- you get the picture. 

2. Try A New Sport 

A good way to motivate yourself is to find something that's new, exciting and fun- slogging back to your usual gym routine won't give you that much needed post-Christmas buzz. Why no try Pure Barre, Zumba, kickboxing, step aerobics, basketball- the list is endless! 

3. Focus On Your Mental Health, Too

A health kick means everything, not just physical. You won't be in a good place physically if you aren't mentally and vice versa. Christmas can send our mental heath into overdrive- the stress, hectic schedules and alcohol can be damaging. Recenter and focus on yourself, why not try an app like Headspace? It's great for giving you a few minuets of calm each day. A new year is a great time to reprioritise- put yourself first, open up to loved ones, get out of damaging situations. These are all easier said than done, I know, but setting goals is a good start.
