Teaming a button down shirt and jeans together is a great example of sartorial yin and yang. The formality of the work-appropriate shirt is effortlessly toned down by the relaxed comfort of the denim to create a chic look that’s timeless and the epitome of 'smart casual'. This has all coincided rather nicely with the general loosening of work dress-codes and even though men have been rocking this classic combo for years, women have much more leeway to put their own twist on it.

Besides the standard button downs, statement shirting is an enduring trend and each season brings bold new plays with proportion, exciting embellishments and deconstructed styles. And there are plenty of denim addicts among us so it’s not that uncommon to own a range of washes, fits and cuts that are regularly updated. The devil’s in the details and how you tuck the shirt is much more important that you’d think when putting your own stamp on this outfit. There’s all in, just one side, front in but out at the back and leaving it all out just for starters which affects the silhouette; and slipping on some heels/flats/sneakers can really dress it up or down. A smattering of jewellery is optional.

Who said that you had to leave the denim items in your wardrobe only for casual occasions? Just like the early naughties, the party jeans are gaining back their reputation as capable LBD alternatives. Emily Ratajkowski certainly thinks so. She sported a pair of straight legged denim jeans with ripped hems with an ethereal silky embroidered kimono by The Kooples to add a bit of glam to the outfit.

She wanted to add a bit more definition and sparkle to her evening look so she placed a pearl and crystal belt around her waist. She put her hair in a half - up Bardot-esque do for the ultimate effortless sexy result. She finished off the look with a pair of black heeled sandals and a leopard print bag.

For a more comprehensive evening look go for a sequinned black top, and pair it with a belt over the knee black boots and a bright coloured tote bag.

Let the top speak for itself and go for a statement off the shoulder ruffled top and pair it with mules and a cute leather clutch.

Channel your inner Victorian vibe and go for the appropriate volume sleeved shirt, soft leather mules and an embroidered drawstring bag. Ready to sport your denim this weekend?

As we're going through the motions in 2018 many are already thinking of their first winter break maybe hitting the slopes or at least enjoying a relaxing weekend away. So you have organised your carry on, and your suitcase you've packed your beauty kit, your casual wear, athletic gear if you're going skiing and your evening wear. But how about your airport outfit? For the longest time celebrity culture has been associated with those glamorous outfits that have transformed into a cool version of a special occasion: travelling.

If you're all about unassuming comfort go for Khloe Kardashian's or Kravitz's version. An oversized hoodie, with a pair of black leggings, trainers and sunnies. Don't let the nonchalance of the outfit fool you. Their make up always remains flawless.

For a more elegant and classic look, think Victoria Beckham go for a pair of jeans a white crisp open-collar shirt and pair them with a long waist fitting trench coat, and oversized sunnies.

If you want to make a statement then go for unapologetic bold. Opt for a memorable colour like mustard or violet and pair it with a great pair of white sneakers slogan tee and sunglasses. Voila! Airport outfit sorted.

So where are we heading? You can head to the gallery for now, and get some more airport style inspiration and then scroll down below to shop your favourite styles!

Awards season is now in full swing and the Brits announced the 2018 Award nominations over the weekend. In case you didn’t know, this is arguably the UK’s premier pop music awards and has spawned many iconic moments including Ginger Spice’s infamous Union Jack dress and Katy Perry’s controversial US President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minster Theresa May oversized dolls. This time round, singer-song writer Dua Lipa made history with five nominations, including British Female Solo Artist, and Ed Sheeran was next most nominated with four nods. Rising star Jorja Smith, who’s collaborated with Drake and Stormzy, won the Critics Choice award ahead of Mabel and Stefflon Don. Find the full list of nominees here and singer Paloma Faith was quick to slam the lack of female performers lined up for the ceremony on 21st February.

That gives you just over a month to add the artists mentioned above to your playlist pronto and shop the nomination looks for your next night out in our edits below.

The red carpet is glistening this weekend as we see the stars come out for the Critics' Choice Awards. One of my favourite looks so far has to be Angelina Jolie's Ralph & Russo dress. Feathers have not been left in the festive season. Jolie stuns in muted shades and the slit up the side adds that extra glamour. Image: Vogue

We're letting the buzz from London Collections Men settle as we dissect the must-have items if the next season. As with any season, this one was no different, with a great offering or Britain's finest from Belstaff to Christopher Kane, Ben Sherman and Christopher Raeburn.

ARMY COAT

Go for an army surplus coat courtesy of brands like Belstaff and David Beckham's Kent & Curwen. This is the year to invest in a great utility coat that will accompany you from casual smart drinks to the gym even on a rainy commute to the office. Its multiple occasion versatility makes it ultimately desirable and a great gift for guys by the way.

GOLF KNIT

Glasgow-born Charles Jeffrey is a designer that pushes buttons and embraces a post-gender world in fashion. He showed oversized jumpers stuffed with padding very reminiscent of golfing green, while MAN's Stefan Cooke went for a knit vest.

FAUX FUR PARKA

You would expect models to walk maybe put on a show but definitely not ice dance, right? Well, that was the case for Band of Outsiders who turned Somerset House in in a purpose-built ice ring over the weekend. What stood out was a revamped version of the teddy bear coat in a multitude of colours. That's from London Collections Men for now as we get ready to welcome all the trends from Milan, Paris and New York in the following weeks.

Hurry and be the first to sport the items straight off the runway by shopping our expert edit below!

These days it feels like it’s always fashion month somewhere and the Autumn Winter 2018 show season kicked off with menswear in London last weekend. That’s why hordes of very well-dressed men were flitting around the capital- to take in the shows- and in the absence of big names like Burberry and J.W.Anderson, emerging talent made big waves.

According to British GQ and the men’s style press, the overarching theme seemed to be 'boys to men', as in the sharp tailoring, heritage fabrics and smarter, structured styles that the older men in your life would be drawn to vs the sporty streetwear and decorative denim for younger generations with their finger on the pulse. The brands to namecheck like you were there are: Craig Green, Christopher Raeburn, Astrid Andersen, Wales Bonner, Art School, Kurt & Curwen (part owned by David Beckham) and Tinie Tempah’s What We Wear brand.

Since a lot of the AW18 clothes won’t be hitting stores for months, we thought we'd share 3 streetstyle trends to shop and rock immediately. Above, a gallery of noteworthy looks attendees wore and below, the edits.

Who said tailoring equates to formal wear? As any Saville Row tailor would admit, optimal tailoring can be part of any occasion as long as you know how to do it properly. With our help sporting a tailored outfit for any occasion should be a breeze.

LAYERING

Although there's no formula per se, there are a few commandments you can easily follow to nail the ultimate sartorial guise of layering. A transitional wardrobe requires a statement winter item that you can use to strategically inform the rest of your outfit. Opt for a long all-purpose coat a shirt blazer and a pair of tactile fabric trousers like herringbone or corduroy. With your key item in mind, play around with the rest of your outfit combining textures, hues and fabrics accordingly.

WORKWEAR

Update your standard office rig with a check coat that says smart-casual dressing at its finest. The finished look can be dialled up or dialled down depending on your mood. Don't be afraid to try a mismatched fabric combo! It will only give an alternative edge to your typical business look.

CASUAL TAILORING

Think of an undone version of your basic formal wear; a mesh of tailored pieces with unstructured items reaching a fine equilibrium between a rigid suit and a slouchy weekend wardrobe. Don a come-as-you-are nonchalance by combining tailored trousers with relaxed jumpers and sleek white trainers. The world is your very fashionable yet comfy oyster.

EVENING

When it comes to reaching dapper AF status remember that tailoring is more important than the actual suit. If you can afford it, consult with a personal tailor that can truly make or break the outfit. With the customised suit at hand, opt for a buttoned-down white crisp shirt, and loafers. When it comes to fabric choice we say to go the extra evening mile and choose velvet. It's after all one of the key fabrics of the season.

Phew! Christmas Day falls on a Monday this year which means you still have the whole weekend, as in three days including today, to get, wrap and give all your gifts. So if you’ve left it to the last minute, waited until pay day, been procrastinating or simply had no idea what to get certain people- no one else needs to know. Fingers crossed everything you want is still in stock, although you may have missed delivery times for online orders unless you’re willing to pay extra for next day delivery. Some retailers thankfully do click and collect and if all else fails, print off your online order and give that instead as indisputable proof you got them something. Just remember to hide/remove the price.

To help you on your gift mission, we’ve put together some quickfire jewellery, books and music edits to shop now below. And here are the rest of our gift guides for added inspiration!

Break out of your coat comfort zone this winter by buying a coloured faux fur coat. The fact it'll keep your warm with less layers underneath almost goes without saying and you definitely won’t be missed meeting friends in a crowd. A pop of coloured fluff is also an instant way to lift your spirits up as you’re trudging from work or to a party in the dark; and let’s be honest- isn't it much more fun and special than wear-everywhere black? Not to mention more daring and it will definitely cement your style status.

How we’d wear ours for work, party and weekend is below with a ready-to-shop edit.
