Louisa Drake is a force to be reckoned with. A fitness expert, business founder and a serious source of lifestyle inspo, Louisa recently launched LDM, a fitness and lifestyle brand built on the principles of her own inclusive training method and her no-nonsense approach to health and wellness.

We caught up with her to find out more about LDM, her motivations and of course, her style both in and out of the studio…

So how does your method work? How can LDM sessions influence your lifestyle?

At LDM we focus on body confidence and effective training techniques that educate clients on what their individual bodies need. My Method offers a host of fitness disciplines – cardio, conditioning, resistance and stretch – to keep the mind and body guessing and strengthen the muscles you use daily.

Our whole approach is to encourage confidence, so the Fitzrovia and Muswell Hill studios are a welcoming space where our instructors will calmly guide you through a class, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and well worked, but never worked up and stressed.

Who can take part in LDM classes?

LDM classes are accessible to anyone, regardless of their experience, fitness level, shape or size. We have two boutique studios in London, where you can access small group classes and private training daily. We also have LDM online video subscriptions and range of fitness equipment and apparel for taking part at home.

What inspired you to launch LDM – tell us about your journey...

After a professional dance career I started to transition into teaching dance and fitness. I was known for my unique style and had several disciplines under my belt but I realised there was something lacking from the workouts I was doing as a client at other gyms and studios.

I saw a gap for doing things my way and created LDM. After combining the best bits of popular disciples such as yoga, HIIT, Pilates to name just a few I created my signature total body workout that ticks all the boxes in one session – the Shape Changer, the perfect balance of cardio and conditioning material.

Next month we celebrate our first birthday at our Fitzrovia studio which offers a range of LDM classes that are constantly being fine tuned to suit our clients’ needs.

What does the word ‘wellness’ mean to you?

Wellness really sums up being at your optimal best physically and mentally. For me it’s about finding the right balance – time to focus on my changing needs, to honour my own rhythms and have the energy to achieve everything I need.

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

My clients. Most mornings I’m either up early teaching group classes or I’m with a private client. The occasion I have a morning free, I’ll top up on sleep or schedule some time for myself on the mat.

How important do you think physical health is to how happy and confident we feel?

Massively important. It should be the main reason you choose to work out and aesthetics are the bonus. The natural high we get from exercise is what keeps you committed.

What about fashion and style – can what we wear make us happy?

Absolutely, wearing something that helps you feel happy will be the reason your posture improves which will then be part of the reason your confidence improves and you carry yourself differently. You can express yourself through fashion and your own unique take on it.

What are your feel-good outfits for work, the weekend and going out?

I spend a lot of time in activewear and when I'm working out and training clients it’s all about supportive, feel-good fabrics. I select a sweat-wicking product that’s going to work hard for me when I’m back to back and versatile items that mean after a quick change I’m ready to go from studio to meeting.

When I’m off-duty it’s a mix of denim, fun prints, slogan tees and a vintage feel is always present in my style. For going out I add some standout accessories, switch a trainer for shoe and opt for a dress or cool jumpsuit.

What about your favourite brands?

Activewear brands such as Sweaty Betty, Lululemon, Lucas Hugh, Nike and Adidas keep me supported and stylish. For tees and sweaters I like British brand Double Trouble Gang – we collaborated on some limited edition LDM sweaters & hoodies. I also love brands such as Etre Cecile and Sezane for an injection of fun prints and slogan pieces.

Free People, Reformation, ADAY, Faithfull the brand, Ganni and the Vampire’s Wife are labels I gravitate towards. I have some great jackets from Zoe Karssen, Whistles and Acne and my accessories are a mix of high street, vintage and investment pieces from Hill and Friends, Sezane, Laura Lee and Missoma.

I’m often in trainers by Adidas, Nike and APL and I’m currently loving the Stella McCartney x Adidas Parley shoes made from recycled ocean plastics – they work for all cardio based workouts. Veja make eco-friendly Parisian cool trainers that I like for off-duty and I also like Russell & Bromley, Birkenstock, Soludos, Hobbs and Miu Miu.

What’s next for you and for LDM?

Plans are underway to open a bigger standalone LDM studio in London where clients can still benefit from small boutique group fitness and private training with more space and amenities. We have some exciting opportunities in the pipeline and I’m working hard to build up our online LDM video offerings, so we are accessible not just in London but anywhere and at anytime. Watch this space…

As much as we hate to admit the early 00's era of Paris Hilton in pink Juicy track suits, double denim x2 Justin and Britney, Christina Aguilera's dirty braided locks, oversized hoops and motorcross gear loving songstress Pink are all trending for 2017. Even though some of those trends especially worn in the early 00's period make us cringe slightly, incorporating a few items here with a 2017  approach will work wonders for your wardrobe this season!

Read on for the latest throwback staples of the season!

1. Velour Track Suit Ensemble

Before the rise of athleisure the velour tracksuit was a no-fail staple. Combined with an oversized bag, a Starbucks venti Latte and a miniature dog it was the celebrity uniform adorned by most starlets of the time. Many years after it's inevitable demise the velour tracksuit is having a come back. Vetement's collaboration with Juicy Couture for SS17 should have given us a hint. Kanye's YEEZY and Chloe are also adding this naughts staple into their collections. You can probably thank or cringe at Rihanna and Kylie Jenner for putting it back on the Insta Fash pack radar.

2. Trucker Cap

In the heyday of paparazzi and celebrity culture which was the early naughts they had to be accompanied by some much needed streetwear and paparazzi-proof attire. Black sunnies have always been favourable but headgear is also quite integral. For the early 00's that attire included the trucker cap. The ubiquitous accessory for every 20-something celebrity from Pharrell to Ashton Kutcher or Britney Spears. It was Hedi Slimane who resurfaced the the polarizing accessory for Saint Lauren's SS16 show. Nowadays, Gigi Hadid and Kylie and Kendall Jenner have all been spotted with the infamous cap.#2e2e2e">

3. Hot Pink

As fashion recycles every 20 years the early naughts adopted the early 80's trend of pastel pink. When it came to the early naughts Paris Hilton not only brought the flirty colour back but basically built her brand by sporting bold non apologetic fuchia-pink. Around the same time that Legally Blonde premiered by the way. And even though we have been drowning in pastel pink for the past few seasons you can attribute the rise of bold pink to Ballenciaga's SS17 collection. Just wondering when Paris Hilton's come back is due?

4. Motorcross Gear

The rise of early aughties hip-hop is undeniable and it quickly infused the fashion runways too. From Pharell Williams, to Pink, EVE, or Christina Aguilera's Dirrty video and most rappers of the time donning heavy leather tracksuits and jackets usually styled with braided hair and lots of 'bling' or 'bling-bling' if you're truly old - school. Nowadays, labels like Maison Margiela, Alyx Studio, Supreme and of course Rihanna's Fenty x Puma SS18 collection at NYFW are completely in racing-inspired gear mode.

5. Candy Coloured Sunglasses

Colorful sunglasses were everywhere in early 00's and adored by women and men equally. From Sisqo to Justin Timberlake Eve and the Olsen Twins (they've gone a long way we know), all 00's stars were sporting this trend. Nowadays you'll find the likes of Gigi Hadid and her entourage in similar rose coloured glasses.

6. Oversized Hoops

The oversized hoops are a symbol of RnB and Hip Hop music. From Lauren Hill, to Missy Elliot, and EVE it's the accessory that goes hand in hand with a bandana, baseball cap or sleek back pony tail. In the aughts the trend went more mainstream and was adored by many including Victoria Beckham. These days, you can see anyone from Kendall Jenner, to the Hadid sisters or Rihanna rocking those giant gold hoops from designers like Area or minimal ones from Lombardi and Nandi Naya.

7. Fishnets

We're not saying you should go full-on Avril Lavigne and "Hollaback Girl"-era Gwen Stefani, necessarily, but there's definitely something about this pop version of post punk fashion that us bubbling back up all over social media. Usually worn underneath low rise wide legged ripped jeans and peaking from the waist and calves. And of course, the fishnet top is a great way to add some interest under a slip dress—or just over a bandeau bra, for a fun flirty look.

8. Pointy slingback pumps

You can pinpoint this trend to the late 90's who resurfaced the super pointy kitten heel. It was in the early 00's though that the silhouette became more relaxed and transformed into a more elegant and feminine slingback pump with a mid-height lift. Doesn't Sophia Coppola's outfit look truly timeless?

There you have it! The eight 00's trends that are coming back in a major way. Which ones will you be sporting this season? Check out our exclusive edit of all the items that will give you that extra aughts edge!

Brows define more than your face turning women into icons. For the past few years, the bigger the better: thanks to the likes of Cara Delevingne, Lily Collins and Kaia Gerber, thick eyebrows have never been more in vogue than they are right now.

A throwback to the era of Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor, thick brows give you a strong, sexy look and steal the show when paired with smokey eyes and a nude lip.

However, for those of us who weren't blessed with such genes, this is where the problem starts. But thanks to the magic of make up, you can fake it till you make it! Here is a small brow guide to help you through finding your perfect shape:

Natural brow

Following Kaia Gerber, her big brow-spiritual sister Cara, we are up for this trend. Embrace your natural shape and enhance it.Trim it or live it unplucked, it’s up to you! You can use some brow gel to style it a bit.

Curved

Far away from the '90s over-plucked version, this brow version has been popular on Youtube for a full glam look or a more natural one. Perfect for diamond shaped faces, the brows have a soft curve upward and taper at the end. To style it, go for a brow pencil featuring a squared off stiff.

Straight

Naturally arched or not, you can achieve this look. Great for oval face shapes, or thick brows, this shape is the Instagram one we have seen everywhere. Head for a brow pomade to get the look.

Soft arch

Great on everyone, this is probably the safest choice when it comes to picking a shape. With a thin tip pencil, you will have more control on your styling.

High arch

This shape will be the perfect choice for round faces, giving definition both to your face and thick eyebrows. Use some concealer to define the brow shape to its best.

While there are plenty of “how to” videos, we picked the Alexis Kaymor's step by step tutorial in the video above. A reference in the brow game, she will give you serious brow envy!

We all dream of the day that we can wake up, get dressed, and artfully arrange our hair into a graceful heap atop our head, with a few loose tendrils for good measure.

Truth be told, whenever we try this, we look more like we've gotten ready without a hairbrush, in the dark, in jail.

But never fear ladies! With the help of widely revered beauty vlogger Zoella,, we've finally cracked it and the hardest hairstyle in the history of the world just got a whole lot easier.

Don’t get your hopes up when it comes to the latest Spice Girls reunion. Yes they’re back together, and we have the instagram snaps to prove it, but they’re not going to actually sing or release any new material. Sad Face. According to the Guardian and The Sun, Baby (Emma Bunton), Sporty (Mel C), Scary (Mel B), Posh (Victoria Beckham) and Ginger (Geri Horner) have accepted £10m each for a deal that might include ‘television in China, a new talent show, a second greatest hits compilation and a variety of endorsement deals.’ Just when we needed new #girlpower anthems more than ever, and the original kind from the original ‘90s trailblazers, they’re not going to give us any. Regardless of whether the announcement is more money fuelled than nostalgia fuelled, we’re excited to see them back and don’t they look well? Oh well, it’s back to rinsing their Spice and Spiceworld albums and another Spiceworld film marathon is in order.

While we wait to see how the Spice Girls circa 2018 plays out, we can keep paying homage to the girl group sartorially. The ‘90s fashion trend shows no signs of dying which means the styles they wore in their heyday 20 years ago are still hot. If you’re a sucker for a black slip dress, you’re subconsciously channelling Posh, if it’s white or pink Baby, and Mel B helped make Doc Martens so streetwise. In fact she was wearing cameo cargo pants before Destiny’s Child did in the Survivor video. And with the Brits later this month, who can forget Geri’s Union Jack dress? But arguably Sporty’s look is currently the most influential with everyone from Kim Kardashian to streetstyle star rocking sportswear and statement sneakers.

Kudos to Kylie Jenner for one-upping the Super Bowl by announcing the birth of her daughter. The youngest member of the reality TV clan released a youtube video tribute to her newborn on Sunday revealing previously unseen footage of her pregnancy, intimate moments with her family and the birth. What struck us was how Jenner stayed true to her style even as her body changed- sticking to mostly oversized t-shirts and sweats that comfortably hid the bump while she was keeping the news under wraps. But when she wanted to show it off among her friends and family: it was body-con dresses all the way- mini, maxi whatever. Now as Jenner is just 20, you may think that her age played a role in her decision not to adopt traditional maternity wear and keep an eye on the trends, but other pregnant women with enviable wardrobes have done the same. (Side note: did you see her daughter’s wardrobe? North West’s got serious competition as Kris Jenner’s best dressed granddaughter).

We did a double take when we saw the Duchess of Cambridge in that head-turning Erdem gown during her royal visit to Sweden. Wow. Yellow, florals, ruffled detail, that’s at least three enduring trends tick tick ticked. She looked stunning and arguably the best we’ve seen her look since she entered the spotlight as William’s girlfriend. The dress skimmed delightfully over her neat bump without making her look bulky, proving that more fitted silhouettes aren’t out of the question for eveningwear if they fit properly. Get a tailor if needed. In fact the whole trip threw up some great looks- the red and white houndstooth coat (similar to Princess Diana’s) and another floral Erdem dress- in blue velvet the second time.

But what about if you’re more tomboyish or you have your own distinctive look? Enter streetstyle star Veronika Heilbrunner who announced her pregnancy last month and hasn’t changed her style one jot. She still showing off her endless legs (in tights as it’s winter), wearing mini or clingy dresses with chunky boots and bold bags. The only discerning change is maybe she’s wearing less trousers than usual but time will tell and she’s got months and fashion weeks of pregnancy to go. It will be interesting to see how and if her sartorial taste changes. Katherine Ormerod is another fashionable women lauded for her outfits. In her own words and judging by her instagram feed, she’s actually kept on wearing her pre-pregnancy pieces with clever layering. It seems she was fond of oversized silhouettes anyway which have been able to accommodate her bump.

All in all, these four women demonstrate four different-but-successful approaches to pregnancy dressing. Pick your favourite and shop their looks in our edits below.

Hands up if you only watch the Super Bowl for the American national anthem and the halftime show? Us too, and also for an annual real life sighting of the supermodel Gisele as she supports her husband, the record-breaking star New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady with their family. Although this year the 5 time world champions didn’t retain their trophy in Super Bowl LII as the so-called ‘underdogs’ Philadelphia Eagles beat them 41-33, with Brandon Graham's incredible strip-sack knocking the ball out of Brady’s hands. That’s a very rough summary of the actual American football played because we were most excited to see Justin Timberlake in his comeback gig, to crown the release of his new album 'Man of the Woods.' P!nk had wowed belting out ’The Star-Spangled Banner’ with the flu earlier on.

Timberlake had a tough task following Lady Gaga’s epic performance last year and Beyonce’s stunning politically-charged rendition of ‘Formation’ the year before, and the talented singer-dancer didn’t quite reach the same heights. His mandate seemed to be family friendly rather than forward-thinking and so Timberlake dutifully delivered: slickly dancing his way through a medley of his greatest hits including ‘Rock your Body’ (which he did at his 2003 Super Bowl show with Janet Jackson that lead to #nipplegate), ‘Señorita’, ‘My Love’, ‘Sexy Back’, 'Cry me a River', ‘Suit and Tie’, ‘End of Time’ at a piano and ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ to close.

There were no NSYNC, Janet Jackson or ‘Filthy’ robot appearances but plenty of backing dancers, a live brass band and a few sound issues; and Timberlake did pay tribute to the late Prince, as the game was being staged in his hometown Minnesota, by covering ‘I Would Die 4 U’. The late legendary artist was projected next to him as a video rather than a ‘demonic’ hologram and his fans weren’t happy as Prince reportedly didn’t like Timberlake. Unlike longterm Timberlake’s fans from his NSYNC and ‘Justified' days who voiced their approval on social media, but the whole thing did little to inspire a new generation, as the young man who got a selfie with Timberlake hinted by his actions.

What Timberlake wore also sparked plenty of debate and memes. Fresh out of Stella McCartney’s AW18 menswear collection (so not in stores yet) and in line with his new ‘country with R’n’b roots’ sound, he sported a deer scene shirt with a cameo splatter print and Prince of Wales check suit, a red bandana around his neck, a fringed leather jacket and chunky white Nike sneakers which looked like custom Jordans. GQ has full details/sketches and it was the most progressive thing about the performance- a fresh way to pull off clashing prints for men.

So if you want to, or you’d like your boyfriend to dress like Timberlake, admire his instagram shots in the gallery above, watch the halftime show here and then shop our edit of similar styles below.
