This time, the impressive stage that has served as the framework for the Chanel show has been the Hamburg concert hall. With the orchestra playing classical music, Karl Lagerfeld presented a feminine and elegant collection for the 2018 prefall collection. Of course, the traditional jacket and tweed skirt suits have been the main protagonists of the collection. Credits: hypebeast

One of the most immediate trends to emerge from fashion month was anything and everything plastic. Whether it was see-through opac black made of PVC or vinyl, plastic interpretations were appearing everywhere during SS18.

Think long practical rain coats at Burberry, moto futurism at Valentino or Chanel's chic 1960's see-through version including capes and boots. Even Yeeze caught in on the trend and presented thigh-high tubular boots. Most designers were looking at the trend ironically, attempting to elevate the plastic fabric which is associated with food preservation to a fashion trend. Kind of like 2010's obsession with trash bags.

It was Karl Lagerfeld who truly gave PVC an haute couture dimension not only by the artistry with which he crafted the clothes but also by styling them with modern Chanel tweed suits. They were word under feminine hooded rain capes in plastic, denim jackets and skirts were trimmed with plastic fringe while he created low-heeled boots in clear plastic as a luxury alternative to our common rain boot. Similarly Demna Gvasalia and Acne Studios opted for sleek plastic raincoats.

Aujourd’hui Gabrielle Chanel aurait eu 134ans !

Tempted by cheap flights to Europe, we are quick to ignore country villages, hills  and coastlines on our own doorstep. So why not do a weekend break in the Uk? There are perks to country getaway: beautiful landscapes, historic sites and a good excuse to get some country air, eat a hearty pub roast and have an outdoor stroll.

The autumn is a ideal time to visit as peak tourist season has passed and the weather is milder, the autumn leaves are getting colourful, reds, oranges and deep greens are starting to show and a beautiful light shines through the trees.

If you are thinking of booking a country retreat, here are three beautiful places we recommend visiting: Devon  is home to breathtaking coastlines and Dartmoor, well worth a visit. Wiltshire is famous for its picturesque villages and gardens and historic houses. The Highlands hosts some of the most specular landscapes of them all, with rolling hills, romantic castles and lochs.

Wherever you decide to go on holiday, don’t forget to pack the perfect apparel for true quintessential country gear. From trench coats to tweed, cashmere jumpers and hunter wellies. Enjoy a country break and our selections of outfits for a weekend in the outdoors!

Modern Tailoring is dominating the fashion scene today from top influencers Pandora Sykes to Song of Style and Camille Charriere. But how did tailoring become so popular? Well, here’s a little history of how it became what it is today.

During the Renaissance period, clothing was transformed from simple pieces of cloth to protect us from the elements to being cut, stitched and sewn to flatter the human form and accentuate features of the body. King Louis XIV of France was the first to make tailored coats, vests and trousers fashionable among royalty and the French courts.

In England, during the 19th Century, tailoring became associated with English Gentlemen and went on to dominate mens fashion as the mainstream business attire. Perfection in tailoring was found in Saville Row in London where they developed specialist techniques to get the perfect fit, using materials such as wool and tweed.

It wasn't until the 1940s when couturiers like Dior and later, Andre Courreges in the 1960s began making womens Ready-to-Wear suits collections which went on to inspire today’s greatest modern designers.

Thankfully, today, you don’t have to go to Saville Row or Dior to pick up a great tailored jacket! There are many styles widely available from Stella McCartney to Topshop. Shopcade has a selection of fine tailored jackets below to get you suited and booted!

Karen Millen’s collection not only echoes femininity and beautiful crafted design, it is romantic, elegant and made to flatter. With an emphasis on the waist we are presented with wrap jackets with sophisticated tie waist skirts and cropped trousers as well as pencil dresses, pussy blow blouses and tweed zip jackets. Varying in necklines, hemlines and silhouettes each piece is made to suit the individual.

High waisted flared trousers are oh so flattering and elongate the legs. The flared skater skirts create a gorgeous girly silhouette, that will leave you twirling on the dancefloor! All in the detail, pleats, ties, floral prints in watercolour and blossom are the key elements of their collection, giving it a delicate romantic feel.

The blossom printed dresses and draped dresses include the a key tend this season, the cold shoulder. These must have pieces are available in printed palms, blossom print, dusty pink and pale blue and will guarantee a compliment or 3!

The thing we love about this collection is it truly captured the essence and balance between corporate and feminine. It will leave you looking smart and sophisticated but preserve a sense of creative flair and style!
