Creating a foundation wardrobe is part of growing up, the older you get the most you realise how important it is to have a few key pieces that you can mix and match. Trends are fabulous but they are a lot easier to work with when you have a savvily curated collection of basics.

Every fashion lover knows that there are some pieces that will always look chic and never loose value, for example:

1) A black blazer

Why? Because a black blazer instantly smartens up any look and can transform something casual into smart-casual.

2) A white shirt

A white shirt can make a look crisp, elegant and refined. Simple but oh so effective.

3) Leather trousers

They add an instant edge, plus can transform any look into something that is sartorially progressive!

4) An LBD

No explanation needed. An LBD is every woman's go to evening piece. Timeless and oh so sexy.

5) A Trench Coat

The Parisians know how to do chic, steal this style from them to update your wardrobe.

Investing in the 20 pieces listed in the edit below will save you money, but more importantly time, in future. Working with these basics and building upon them with statement or trend driven items is the most hassle free way to dress, plus there's never the fear of "I've got nothing to wear".

Kim Kardashian is suing celebrity gossip website MediaTakeout and its founder Fred Mwangaguchunga over claims that she faked her the robbery in the Paris apartment where she was staying last week.

The federal lawsuit was filed yesterday in New York, stating "after having been the victim of a horrific and traumatic armed robbery in France, Kim Kardashian returned to the US only again to be victimised, but this time by an online gossip tabloid that published a series of articles in early October 2016 referring to her as a liar and a thief," the BBC reported.

Kardashian West is seeking unspecified damages following articles the lawsuit states "claimed, without any factual support whatsoever, that Kardashian faked the robbery, lied about the violent assault, and then filed a fraudulent claim with her insurance company to bilk her carrier out of millions of dollars."

Actress Lucy Hale, definitely best-known for her dramatic role in Pretty Little Liars, showed off in a new shoot with Elle.

The young actress is decked out like Sarah Michelle Gellar's character from Cruel Intentions, the devious Kathryn Merteuil. She channels Kathryn's cruel attitude in her interview as she tells Elle about her hopes that the 7th season (rumored to be the last season) of PLL ends tragically. Read the full feature here.

Get her dramatic, all-black look with my selections below!

Playing with colors is a great way to refresh your closet without spending money. Unlikely color combos are trending and the least expected colors surprisingly pair well together.

Green and blue, camel and orange, and navy and mustard tops our list of color combos that you should try! And of course, it’s highly likely that they’re all waiting inside your closet already!

These colors are big right now on it’s own and together so jump on these hues! Mixing similar colors and different textures and patterns such as fringes and stripes used to be a faux pas but that is of the past my friends.

Start mixing these colors and get the hottest looks to hit the streets!
