Call us catty but we’ve always thought of ‘Uggs’ as shorthand for ‘ugly’ not matter the height or colour. And Y/Project’s Creative Director Glenn Martens has taken up the ‘ugly shoe’ trend baton and pushed it to new and extreme heights quite literally by lengthening and widening the boot for his AW18 menswear collection, shown last week in in Paris. It’s worth pointing out that there are three styles in this Y/Project x Ugg collaboration which all reflect the exaggerated proportions that the Parisian upstart brand is making it’s name with. The big question wasn’t whether they’d be comfortable- of course they’ll be. Martens himself described wearing Uggs as "putting your foot in a warm pot of butter" to Vogue.com and wanted to extend that admittedly wonderful feeling when faced with a super cold winter up the leg towards the crotch. And having worn these glorified slippers when they were hot during the mid Noughties, (thank you Sienna Miller) we can’t disagree. But would you wear the thigh-high ones?

If the answer’s yes, how? They were styled with oversized tops and jacket sans trousers (you wouldn't want to sweat in them?) on the runway allowing cheeky flashes of thigh that would usually be hidden. Exactly how we’d imagine Rihanna rocking them with the IDGAF attitude that’s essential for these. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a pair already winging its way to the stylish superstar as she’s a big fan of Y/Project who did her Anti Tour outfits. The swathes of suede and shearling that would be sheathing your legs are definitely cool but clearly casual, making this look fine at home or for an off-duty, weekend outing. But nowhere else as the boots can’t really be teamed with dresses, skirts and trousers because they're too bulky. But maybe that’s the point and people with the budget can save them exclusively for certain occasions. Uggs are notoriously not waterproof, even if you cover them with suede shoe protector, so the upkeep and frustratingly inevitable wet patches if you wear them out may not be worth it.

Shop our UGG edit below because whatever you think of the thigh-highs, the lower styles are much easier to wear and apparently a revival is underway.

Flashback to the 60s! Brigitte Bardot is influencing what we wear yet again in 2018. Her name is an icon from bardot tops to bardot dresses and now bardot bandanas. Hair accessories are major in 2018 and bandanas are on the top of the list. If you’re having a bad hair day, these bandanas will save the day. Opt for the bold coloured ones to stand-out from the crowd.

Never fear, the Superdry sale is here to get your smart-casual uniform on point. Get up to 50% off the slick outerwear, brilliant basics and more that the British streetwear brand does so well in its own distinctive way. Spotted on everyone from David Beckham and Leonardo DiCaprio to Pippa Middleton and Kristen Stewart, on-trend Americana is very much a part of Superdry’s design DNA, only the hand-drawn graphics are Japanese-inspired and the whole aesthetic is tailored and pulled together in a diverse way. Factor in the premium fabrics, intricate details and the fact some styles are inherently unisex as well, and you have a collection of wardrobe superheroes every season.

It’s obvious that co-founders and creative collaborators Julian Dunkerton and James Holder are always thinking ‘how can we do this differently’ because Superdry continues to innovate and stay ahead of the curve. Don’t be surprised to find body con dresses and contemporary Chelsea boots among the womenswear, while fresh new logos and modern motifs transform otherwise simple tops for men that are worth collecting. Every style is universally appealing but still manages to feel exclusive which is no mean feat.

’Tis the party season after all and Superdry is the ultimate antidote to all the try-hard glamour. The shimmering silver dress is an effortless entrance-maker in its own right, just like a perfectly shaped pair of brown boots. And if you’re still looking for a winning winter hat or last minute Christmas gift, one of the colourful logo beanies will fit the bill.

Check out the collection highlights above and shop your favourites in our must-buy edit below.

We’ve got to give it to Gap. Getting some of our favourite instagrammers to rock their rainbow stripe styles as part in their #12daysofcrazystripe campaign pre Christmas was a stroke of genius. Monica Ainley teamed her knit with white jeans and a khaki coat; @andfinally_ founders Anna Vitiello and Florrie Thomas’ cropped shots featured eye-catching jewellery and a beret; while the @belleandbunty girls wore theirs with mini skirts. Not only did the reinvigorated brand succeed in pushing rainbow stripes back on our radar with stellar styling inspiration, they also created this winter’s it pattern.

Sadly Gap’s crazy stripe styles are largely sold out but you’ll find that plenty of your favourite brands and retailers have been lining up to push this colourful trend forward. From trophy tops to dazzling dresses, standout shoes and even activewear and swimwear- there are so many ways to lift your cold weather wardrobe and your spirits. It’s worth noting that the description ‘rainbow’ has been used rather loosely to encompass all bold and kaleidoscopic multi-colour combinations. And despite that, these stripes are just as timeless as their classic Breton counterparts and surprisingly versatile too. Trust us.

Oversize is just too mainstream for 2018. We have had oversize this year in everything ranging from bags to blouses. In 2018, oversize just means normal. For the new year we will be wearing massive clothing. Forget your regular size because you will be wearing bigger and baggier clothing. The belief of wearing baggy pants and tight tops is gone because now we will be wearing everything big! Prepare to get lost in your clothing! Because 2018 is about supersize! The bigger the better! #supersize #oversize #big #baggy #streetstyle #style #trend #fashion

Hands up if you haven’t changed out of your pyjamas since Christmas day? Us neither and there’s no need to change even if you’re heading out, provided you’ve upgraded your nightwear. Pyjama dressing for women, as in wearing patterned, matching button up tops and trousers, slinky slips and robes, is still a major trend and over the course of the year, plenty of exciting brands have popped up. Asceno, Morpho + Luna and more are all delivering vibrant styles with elevated fits and fabrics that you’ll want to show off well beyond the bedroom. It’s comfortable fashion at it’s very best and definitely dressy- just add heels for a night out or denim to create a killer smart-casual day look. Trainers are a fashionable foil for a slip.

Thanks to Prada, fur hemlines are now everywhere. On the hemlines of skirts and tops, this style is perfect for the holidays. Style the fur hemlined skirt with a silk top to wear it on new years. Or you can try out the fur trend with sweaters with fur details and style it with your jeans to wear it casually. Opt for the dark coloured furs to make a more understated style or go bold with bright coloured furs. Don’t forget to make sure the fur is faux! #fakefur #fauxfur #fur #furhemlines #prada #streetstyle #fashion #trend

Something about this trend is getting me obsessed! I love the subtle reveal of the chunky knits with an open back. The cutout can be used to show off your gorgeous lace bra or even go braless to show off the appeal of your back. Wear it with jeans or skirts because these go with everything. This trend is even making your back fashionable. You will be trendy from the front and the back! #openback #blouses #knits #chunkyknits #tops #trend #streetstyle #fashion

This picture right here is what cool winter outfits is all about. The girls are wearing cute long sleeve tops perfect for chill weathers, but on the bottom is where the fun of this outfit begin. The fabulous vinyl pants on the brunette and the metalized pants on the blonde bring a wow factor to the outfit that is very appropriate for party season. Would you wear those pants? There's nothing like a quick weekend getaway to make you feel refreshed and recharged amidst a busy schedule. It's very easy to overpack and annoy your boyfriend or husband but actually, there is an easier way to packing exactly what you need in a limited amount of space.

1. Get the small suitcase. This is probably the simplest trick to help you with overpacking. Aim for a hard-sided suitcase ideally one that also works as a carry-on so you can't squeeze in any additional clothes.

2. Try the clothing countdown: Use the 5,4,3,2,1 rule which means no more than five sets of socks & underwear, four tops, three bottoms, two pairs of shoes and one hat/ pair of gloves.

3. The day before your trip, lay out everything you'd like to pack and edit a few times. Figure out how much you'll need an item and completely scratch out the in case I need it pile.

4. Roll it. The quickest way to pack is by rolling your clothes. It helps maximise space and minimise wrinkly items. You can even try packing tubes to really optimise the space you have available.

5.Toiletries on top. Always keep your toiletries within easy reach by placing them on top. Firstly they might burst crumbled underneath piles of clothes and shoes. Secondly, you never know when security will want you to take them out of the bag.

6. Separate toiletry kit. Don't unpack your toiletries, simply keep them in a separate kit including a toothbrush and contact lenses.
