Pole fitness has lost its reputation of being an activity that only occurs in strip clubs, to a respectable sport. Which had been a long time coming, because pole fitness is an extremely skilled sport which required a hella load of core strength. There have been many debates surrounding the sport, especially as momentum for it to be included in the Olympics has mounted. 


Pole fitness is part acrobatics, gymnastics and dance. The attire is rather specific, because despite the general perception that little clothing is worn for sex appeal, it's actually a necessity in order to grip the pole effectively. 

All the varieties of pole fitness, whether they include sexier routines or not, are great workouts!

Crop tops are back in fashion, your girl squad's going on summer vacay and Snapchat will document each and every moment - what other reason do you need to start tightening those abs? If you aren't at all motivated by health and wellness reasons, it may help to focus - just a teeny bit - on vanity reasons. 

Joking aside, whatever your shape or size, everyone can benefit from some regular core strengthening sessions! Here are 3 ways you can get super taut abs...

1) To some, it may seem counterintuitive not to focus 100% on your tummy area but doing nothing but sit-ups all day won't get you get any closer to reaching your goal. Aerobic exercise such as running, jumping rope and swimming burns fat all over the body - which means a less belly fat too! 

2) Now that we've established the importance of blood pumping activities like those mentioned above, it's imperative you make time to fit in planks, crunches and sit-ups. Why? However flat your stomach may become, you'll need to strengthen those abdominal muscles for maximum impact. Watch Kayla Itsines, the creator of BBG, show us some ab exercises in the video above!

3) Stop eating/drinking items with added sugar for snacking/thirst quenching purposes. Save your added sugar consumption for yummy things - birthday cake, Krispy Kremes, Haagen-Dazs - and not for products branded "healthy" but pack the same if not more added sugar. Opt for fruit for snacking.

Do you want a Kim Kardashian butt or a Kylie Minogue butt? As much as the trend for big and small booties have alternated with extreme frequency over the past 2 decades, one thing is clear: whatever size or shape bum you have, keeping it toned and taut shows off just how proud you are of the derriere you were born with! Look to our tips below on how you too can have a gluteus maximus that's magnificent to behold...

1) There are many butt enhancing exercises one can do with no equipment at all! In time and with discipline, you can easily achieve the bum of your dreams. For example, a single-leg glute bridge entails lying on your back with bent knees (feet flat on the ground), extending one leg, squeezing your butt cheeks as you exhale, then pushing your hips upward. Lower your hips slowly until hovering just above the floor - and repeat!

2) There's some overlap between keeping a fit bum and keeping strong, toned thighs. Check our our Beach Body Blitz: Leg Day post for info on squats and lunges! "I simply don't have the time!" is a feeble excuse not to get your booty in shape; you reckon Gigi Hadid sits around on her arse all day? Just like kegel exercises which can be done anytime, anywhere (SATC's Samantha admitted to doing them at lunch), you can easily work out those butt muscles by clenching the crap outta them at your desk. 

3) Still searching for an intensive butt firming solution? Rock out with a twerkout! In all seriousness: if you've had enough of running and cycling to make your derriere stand out, twerking can make your bum a thing of beauty.
