We’ve come to the conclusion that hair slides are seriously underrated as an accessory. Used to clip back a pesky fringe or to decorate an otherwise ordinary hairstyle, Alexa Chung and cult film character Margot Tenenbaum are the poster girls for this off-beat look. The witty words Ashley Williams' have spelled out in crystals have made great streetstyle fodder in recent seasons and it’s now Simone Rocha’s pearls styles that are nestling on the heads of some of the world’s best dressed women. Besides Chung, who’s been spotted out and about at London Fashion Week wearing more than one at once; presenter Laura Jackson is a big fan and wore a pair for her wedding. Pandora Sykes has snapped herself wearing one on Instagram and we’ve noted that what they all have in common is a penchant for jaunty lobs (long bobs). But Solange’s ’A Seat at the Table’ album artwork proved that hair slides will wow in hair of a longer length depending on the arrangement.

Now that it’s getting warmer, we’d suggest swapping your woolly hat for a eye-catching hair slide. No other jewellery is needed and you can give your ears a rest from heavy statement earrings and build your look around it. Start with one: the more you add, the more attention and compliments you’ll attract. Wire kirby grips are the answer if you’d like to take an ultra minimalist approach- hide tonal ones in your hair and be a little bolder with metallic or bright colours. The fact that they are comparatively cheaper than other accessories is a big bonus and, as size does matter, make sure your hair can hold the slide in place. A spritz of hair spray will help if needed.

Double winner Dua Lipa, Jorja Smith, Maya Jama and Kylie all looked amazing at last night's Brit Awards. But we're now totally on board with the feather trim trend after loving the white feather details of Holly Willoughby,  Rita Ora and Adwoa Aboah’s red carpet looks. Miles away from the feather boas you may have worn to your last 1920s fancy dress party; they function as a whimsical, decadent addition to any style you can think of, fluttering gorgeously with movement. Dress trims, on coat cuffs, flourishing on shoes and bags, even basic tank tops as Miuccia Prada has chicly proved with paintbox bright plumes. Consider them a welcome respite from faux fur as well, more unusual and way less likely to make you the target of a PETA protest (there isn’t the same furore over ostrich feathers).

Obviously Willoughby, Ora and Aboah showcased how to dress these feather trims up, alongside white rose tributes that picked up where The Grammys left off. Add minimal or understated accessories and go is the key styling tip to note, to allow the feathers to be the focal point. The same thing works for during the day as these fancy details will instantly elevate an otherwise ordinary look. We’d also recommend sticking to one plumed piece at a time unless you want to veer into costume territory.

Shop the short sleeved version of Willoughby’s David Koma dress and our edit of buy-now feather pieces below.

You've seen them on Kaia Gerber, the Hadid sisters can't get enough. It’s the ultimate winter staple and comeback item from the 90’s the era of grunge and tea dresses. It’s the easy way to toughen up any girly outfit and infuse it with some much-needed edge. Even before the Chicago grunge era of Nirvana and Courtney Love combat boots such as Dr. Martens, were causing head waves across the country with the punk rock of movement in all its vinyl, PVC and fishnet glory.

For 2018, the vibe is muted and nuanced. Although we may see lots of touches from the previously mentioned punk trends, the styling now has an amazing way of looking elegant and put together though maintaining that tough, rocker edge.

Combat boots are also surprisingly complimentary to all shapes and sizes. They come with that tiny rubber heel that gives a few cheeky inches to a petite figure. Also, it has a very clever slimming effect. The chunkiness of the boot actually juxtaposes to the calf and elongates the leg as a result. Nothing wrong with that!

Go for a full 90's resurgence look by sporting your combat boots with a frilly tea dress, minimal make-up and a knit cardigan.

Try a student look and style your boots with a pair of denim shorts, a trench coat and a cool red beret.

Opt for an 80's look by adding a LBD and fishnets.

For an up-to-date take on the trend, mix a slip dress under an oversized knit and finish the look with a pair of white Dr. Martens.

The allure of wearing lingerie as outerwear is nothing new, but as we transcend into Spring the most popular trend of last season is emerging yet again: the slip dress. Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez welcomed the sexy throwback trend from the 90s without fail. Likewise, in the 1990’s Andy McDowell, Rachel from Friends and pretty much every starlette of the time sported this very easy to incorporate trend. Its popularity stems from its versatile nature.

An ivory floor length slip can make for a wondrous wedding dress, a red slip dress can look amazing on a night out while a black slip worn with a white tee and a pair of sneakers is your ultimate daywear go-to!

When it comes to styling layering a piece of fabric (plain white t-shirt, blouse, shirt) is not only chic but very practical too. It's one thing having a strap fall when worn as lingerie at home it's quite another if that happens while working or commuting crammed in the tube. That multitasking white t-shirt lets the slip stay in place whilst providing cover.

For that extra piece of layer wear it over a slogan hoodie that will elevate your style know-how while keeping you warm at the same time.

Dressing for winter can vary depending on the city you’re living. Still even in freezing temperatures it seems that a motivated fashion-savvy girl will find a way to sport her favourite items regardless of weather fits. One of the trends that most fashionistas have been craving the last two seasons at least is a pair of sleek and streamlined mules.

The difference is that it wasn’t until this season that we’ve noticed influencers figuring out how to wear them in freezing climates. The styling tricks can range from adding socks to keeping the toes warm. We’re rounding up the best styling hacks to wear mules in winter.

BALANCING ACT

Although it’s essential to keep your extremities at reasonable temperatures sometimes it’s enough dressing up other parts of the body to keep warm. Go for a cosy sweater and a flowy skirt or dress and throw on a pair of sling backs with bare feet.

DENIM ALLURE

A pair of quality cut hem jeans with black leather mules is a combo made in chic heaven. Add an oversized leather bag and a trench coat for effect.

PROPORTION GAME

Don’t be afraid to go for a bare feet mule while sporting a voluminous puffer jacket on top. Fashion is becoming more practical - see trainers and dresses - to suit both your sartorial craving for a mule and your need to keep warm.

SOCK ALERT

When all less fails, sock is the best option for the shoes that are just too good to give up. For extra flair add statement socks like metallic, glitter, slogan, or fishnet socks.

It's very common to get stuck in a jewellery routine. As they constitute a very personal and occasionally expensive business it makes sense that we narrow it down to a select few necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings and wear the same every day; unless we restock. But whether those items are emotionally valuable to you, for example, a ring passed down from your mother or a family heirloom with a great significance, or even just a ring that you purchased to celebrate a momentous occasion they tend to become second nature. We put them on and that habitual thing ends up becoming a very repetitive process that may, in fact, hinder our ability to experiment and evolve our looks.

Actually, jewellery provides many avenues of self-expression through new styling techniques or picking statement earrings that say something about you. A great styling tip is to layer your necklaces and make them stand out just like an individual statement piece would. It sounds very straight-forward but there is a difference between layering charms for example coins, to wearing statement pieces, like primitive jewellery, lettered pieces or experiment with textured items.

Fashion Week, of course, isn't just about the clothes but what the designers are styling them with. Jewellery has such an effect on an outfit, transforming that LBD from 9-5 to cocktail hour in a hot second. Tom Ford is known for being sleek and chic with just a bit of drama, that's what keeps it fun right? Kaia looked insane in this look in the recent Tom Ford show. These earrings are more than statement, they're over-statement and I love it. The simple smoky eye and nude lip work perfectly with the glam jewellery and obviously her hair is pulled back, not a focal point needed in this look. Incredible. Image: Vogue

We’ve found a novel way to be two or even three faced this season via instagram: face earrings. Jewellers are moulding metals into graphic outlines of le visage, with or without features and stones, that dangle from the ear and pop against a background of hair in really lovely ways. It’s the next phase of statement earrings that Mango, and the #mangogirls by default, have taken up with gusto, as the arty accent feels progressive and sophisticated. Those with a designer budget can look to Celine and J.W.Anderson for more conceptual pairs that’ll be a little less ubiquitous. The latter’s blue pair, done in collaboration with the now default Style.com a few seasons ago, was spotted on Yasmin Sewell, Pandora Sykes and many a editor/streetstyle star.

We guess they’re popping up again now, mostly in gold, as an interesting alternative to the gold hoop. You can choose your art movement: cubism, surrealism, abstract etc and find a pair in line to add to your jewellery box. They’re the tasteful twist that makes any daytime outfit worthy of a second look or compliment and after dark they’ll steal the spotlight. Don’t shy away from coloured styles, as they’ll only increase the impact without compromising timelessness, or wearing them one at a time to stand out in a crowd of face earring wearers.

Dua Lipa's obsession with itsy bitsy tops is nothing new so it came as no surprise when for her first appearance on Saturday Night Live she appeared in a crop top. Her year is turning our to be monumental. After releasing her self-titled album last summer she officially became 2017's biggest debut for a female artist in the UK and crossed the pond appearing in late night shows like Jimmy Fallon. During SNL, she performed "New Rules", and "Homesick", while Natalie Portman hosted.

Dua Lipa's style has evolved but she was always graced with effortless elegance. She knows what works for her and she incorporates it into her wardrobe while picking up a few trends. For example, for her onstage look she went for a chic and glam look featuring a floral cream crop top - similar to her trademark bra and bralette choices, small jewellery and high-waisted vinyl trousers with green strappy heels. Her dancers were equally glamorous dressed in glossy robes.

If you want to show off your abs like Dua Lipa there are more than a few styling options that you can discover and shop from our expert edit below!

The Super Bowl has long been associated with being more than just a game. It's a US national holiday that celebrates everything truly American: football, TV and advertising. It's a super showcase that sets advertisers back $5 million per second. On football's biggest night, the New England Patriots faced off the Philadelphia Eagles on one of the coldest games in history. The Eagles were able to defeat the Patriots with a final score of 41-33 winning their first ever Super Bowl championship.

During the much-anticipated halftime show, Pink sang the "Star Spangled Banner" before her favourite team, the Eagles, flooded the stage. Then Timberlake took to the stage for the first time after the controversial performance with Janet Jackson in 2004. He began in a basement of a nightclub which turned out to be the foundations of the stage. After making a few grimaces to his dancers he emerged off the ground with a medley of his 00's hits: Rock Your Body, Seniorita, SexyBack and many more.

JT then covered "I Would Die 4 U" as a tribute to the Purple Rain singer alongside a video of the late singer. The visual wasn't exactly a hologram and for good reason. Back in 1998, Prince had compared the idea of him being presented on stage as a hologram "demonic". Sheila E. had confirmed via Twitter that Timberlake would avoid performing with a hologram. The projected image though of Prince performing in the back caused a Twitter uproar. From comments to jokes, it was a Twitter rampage. One user pointed out that they preferred "Odell Beckham and Eli Manning covering Dirty Dancing" to JT's performance.

His outfit was head-to-toe Stella McCartney, in keeping with his latest Americana rebrand. And he's not the only one. The Western Americana styling has been making the rounds as one of the biggest trends of the season. Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and sister Gigi have been spotted many Americana items from pearl embellished denim jackets to western style boots, distressed jeans or leather biker jackets.
