Move over mini, take a hike maxi – the midi is fashion's go-to skirt silhouette this season. Long enough to shield your pins from those cool October breezes but short enough to showcase your ultra-cool autumn boots and a well-chosen sock – if that's your jam – the midi skirt is the perfect low-effort piece to rock now.

Plus, with styles in satin, tulle, animal print and metallics with ruffles, wrap fronts and pleats to choose from, it's easy to switch up your skirt for any occasion. We suggest rocking yours with a simple black jumper, layered necklaces and a cool biker jacket.

For night, team your midi skirt with a silky camisole and complete the look with block-heeled sandals and a statement clutch in mock crock or with jazzy embellishments.

Want to try the look for yourself? We've picked out the best midi skirts for every budget. Browse the edit below to save and shop your favourites...

Fall is a tricky time for your skin – a transitional season in which the temperature and air pressure are rarely consistent, it’s easy to find that your daily skincare routine falls short.

In fall an extra boost of moisture and minerals is essential to maintaining good skin health. Now, everyone’s skin is different so of course, there’s no cure-all formula for perfect seasonal skin, however there are a handful of options our beauty editors swear by.

Whether you prefer to smooth on a sheet mask and kick back or brush a soothing mineral-enriched formula over your skin while you chill, we’ve picked out our favourite masks from cult beauty brands.

Using one – or a combination of these products depending on your skin type – just once or twice a week will help with drawing out impurities, smoothing skin tone and texture, stimulating collagen production and flooding your skin with extra moisture.

Browse the edit below and give your skin the extra attention it needs this season…

September is #selfimprovement month and no wonder the hashtag's already trending. At this time of year we're usually throwing ourselves into that 'new start, new season, new me' mindset. Because let's face it, we probably didn't keep all the resolutions we made in January so we at least deserve another shot...

Now if you know anything about self improvement you'll know it's not about being negative or being hard on yourself for failing to change, it's about baby steps, tiny wins and good vibes.

Self improvement starts with self care so we've put together a few handy tips to help you kickstart your self improvement journey. September's a good a time as any to start something, right?

Take time for yourself

It's easy to feel like things will never change if you feel as though you're always running around after other people. Take a night off, spend a weekend with your loved ones or just indulge in some alone time to focus on your thoughts and quiet your mind.

Get more sleep

Sleep is essential for our health. A proper night's sleep helps our brains and bodies to properly recharge so we can do our best mental and physical work during the day. Try and set yourself the task of having earlier nights this month and if you find it hard to drop off, try a little aromatherapy with candles, pillow sprays, diffusers and essential oils.

Write down your goals

Writing down what you want to change and how you want to do it can really help to visualise and focus on your short-term and long-term self improvement goals.

Practice happiness

Take a little time to do things that make you feel good, like going for a long walk, taking a relaxing bath with a facemask on or listening to an inspiring podcast. Doing little things like this for yourself will help with cultivating a positive mindset and if you feel positive, the sky's the limit.

If ever there were a reason to raid your granny’s wardrobe, this is it. Silk scarves are back and the style set is rocking them in myriad ways…

Now we all know a silk scarf has the power to lend any look a little extra polish but the latest trend has us embracing the time-honoured accessory in a cool, boho fashion inspired by the beatniks and hippies of the ‘60s.

Instagram is filled with cool girls sporting silky bandanas knotted around messy buns and free-flowing ponytails proving that the silk scarf really is one for versatility.

Whatever your go-to colour palette or however short your hair, it’s easy to rock this trend. Simply fold your scarf into a length, wrap around your bun or pony and knot it. Et voila.

Want to try the look for yourself? Shop our edit of statement, minimalist and luxe silk scarves for every budget below…

Nowadays when I see long hair for me is just meh! I'm obsessed with short hair right now since I recently cut my own! So, I really loved how the blunt bob of the picture was styled. Those very loose waves just in the front add this romantic touch to the girl and at the same thing frames her face perfectly. Not forgetting the gorgeous head clip too. photo credit: @manrepeller on twitter #hair #hairstyle #bob #look

I'm not a fan of long acrylic nails, but what really caught my eye in this picture is that gorgeous nail polish. I've been always a fan of pale pink polish but I think it looks so chic and cute for every day, but that almost pearly iridescent touch on the color is beyond amazing. I definitely would rock that color on my short nails. photo credit: @nailsideasbase on twitter #nails #nailart #nailideas #beauty
