Shearling is back and we’re not mad about it. Playing off the mega seventies trend dominating the fashion world of late, fuzzy sheepskin and soft suede are a major FW18 essential.

Cool, neutral and undeniably cosy, there are plenty of ways to work this sumptuous material into your fall line-up. Plus, there are plenty of faux options on offer if you don’t want to splash the cash or are against the idea of wearing sheepskin.

If you don’t have at least one shearling piece in your wardrobe – be it a jacket, a bag or a pair of jazzed-up winter-ready sneakers – it’s time to change that.

Shop the edit below for our favourite shearling pieces for him and for her…

If there’s one brand that knows how to do fall to perfection, it’s Coach. Mainstay of cool girls, stylists and celebs everywhere, Coach is synonymous with a laid-back rock’n’roll meets wild prairie aesthetic and of course, those signature shearling and leather pieces.

You can always rely on Coach to offer up a luxe fall jacket or the perfect new-season bag, complete with playful dino charms, but this year the brand has really struck gold.

Perhaps it’s because the rest of the fashion world seems to be embracing the Coach approach to style with ‘70s shearling, snakeskin and muted autumnal tones reigning supreme on the FW18 runways at fashion Week.

Whatever the reason, the brand’s latest ready-to-wear collection is almost too good to be true so we’ve picked out our favourite pieces and the styles you need to know about before they sell out.

Shop the new-season Coach edit and elevate your look to new heights…

Fleece or shearling jackets were only for hiking. But that was a long time ago and now shearling jackets are a trend item. If you’re complaining that nothing makes you feel warm enough for winter, this is the answer to your prayers! Last season these were teddy coats that were faux fur, but this season it has got an update and now they are fleece or shearling which is better to keep you cozy in cold weather. #winter #shearling #fleece #jackets #coats #teddy #trend #streetstyle #style #fashion

Ready to shop for the new season but overwhelmed by all the trends? Don’t worry – we’ve rounded up the best looks from London Fashion Week, along with our favourite AW18 pieces.
Modern military

It’s not unusual for military pieces to appear on the AW runway, but Belstaff’s collection was a fresh take on the trend. We loved the printed hoodies worn with double-breasted coats and zipped cargo pants.

Reworked classics

For AW18, Burberry gave its iconic pieces a contemporary update: see the oversized trench coats, rainbow logo-embroidered sweatshirts and checked baseball caps.

Tonal tailoring

Loved for its pared-back minimalism, Joseph’s autumn collection did not disappoint. A standout look consisted of clean brown tailoring worn with a sharp camel coat.

Utility cool

JW Anderson’s show combined menswear and womenswear, but each had an effortless utilitarian feel. We predict the graphic knit sweaters and relaxed khaki pants will be an instant hit.

Industrial outerwear

Not only were the coats and jackets at Christopher Raeburn incredibly cool, they were also constructed from recycled materials. Look out for the checked wool pieces made from Russian navy blankets.

Asymmetric shapes

Chalayan’s deconstructed designs made ordinary wardrobe staples feel completely unique – check out the cut-out trousers and cleverly folded coats in the line-up.

Heritage checks

You can always count on Margaret Howell to deliver timeless pieces that will transcend seasons – for example, the checked shirts and Prince of Wales tailoring seen on the runway.

Retro refresh

‘70s references could be spotted throughout Oliver Spencer’s show, but in the most understated way: see the corduroy and velvet trousers and shearling jackets.

Sports luxe

Sportswear has become a fixture on the runway, and it’s not going anywhere fast. Band of Outsiders mixed retro tracksuits with smart tailoring for a fresh take on the trend.

Go graphic

Bold logo prints are still dominating the street style circuit, and it looks like they’re sticking around for another season. Cottweiler’s final look was an oversized T-shirt embroidered with the Natural History Museum’s name – also the location of the label's show.

Sometimes the simplest trends are the best ones. Let’s be honest, on those days when you’ve ‘nothing to wear’ you can’t do much better than black jeans, a white shirt and a blazer. Sometimes less is more and that’s certainly the case with this summer’s hottest footwear trend…

Pool slides hit the runway a few seasons back and now they’re everywhere. We’ve seen classic monochrome iterations from Givenchy, studded slides from Chloé and our bejewelled designs in colourful satin by Miu Miu.

The high street also has an impressive line-up on offer – from Zara and Topshop to Mango, you’ll find pool slides at every turn. Now, the slide silhouette is simple and ridiculously easy to wear, meaning you can amp things up a little with the design.

We love knotted and embellished styles, metallics to give those all-white summer looks a lift and neon for summer festival ensembles with denim cut-offs and glitter. Try satin, faux shearling or gingham for a cool textural look, or go super simple in a vacay-ready rubber pair.

Want to rock a pair of pool slides your way? Browse our gallery for inspiration and shop the edit below…

This is not a drill: new Mansur Gavriel styles have just landed on Mytheresa.com fresh off the runway. ‘See it, love it, buy it’ is usually how it goes with the New York based brand’s It bags and shoes but, as this is the first time their ready-to-wear will be stocked as well, we expect this drop to sell out pronto. There’s no doubt about it anymore, MG is taking over your wardrobe one colourfully minimal piece at a time, and has captured the hearts and wardrobes of stylish women worldwide. From a colour-blocked bucket bag to a full- blown offering of essential knitwear, boardroom-to-bar dresses and more, the now-cult brand’s clean and sophisticated aesthetic stays the same. Everything’s free from surface embellishment, bar their discrete logo, so the impeccable materials and craftsmanship can be admired in all their glory.

We can’t think of a better way to sample 2018’s sweet pastel trend than with Mansur Gavriel’s chic lemon, candy floss pink and lavender basics. Think smooth silk shirts and tops and you definitely won’t be missed in an elegantly sheer layered midi dress, which comes in traffic-stopping red as well as this delicious pink. And why buy another iconic leather bucket alone, available here in new colourways and sizes, when you could broaden your collection with a tote, circle crossbody or even a roomy travel bag in classic and contemporary tones. Let the array of suede, shearling lined, and heeled boots put the spring in your step and you’ll be itching to show off your pedicure in the open-toed mules and sandals as soon as the weather permits.

Check out the collection highlights in the gallery above then shop your favourite styles in the exciting edit below.

Denim has historically been one of the most flattering fabrics for both men and women. It's also surprisingly versatile, adored by the high street and the high end alike. This season we are seeing more and more denim worn on top rather than just on the bottom. Infused with a touch of Americana and 70's western films, the denim shearling is having a serious moment! For SS18 denim is super playful unexpected and comfortable. This means no boring denim jackets but, lots of cutouts, embroidery, and patches.

The cool thing about shearling is that it's your perfect transition weather jacket. It's still denim - in other words, meant for the upcoming Spring season but is embellished with touches or shearling lining for those colder nights in the city. It's also super versatile! You do a double denim look, pair it with a romantic dress for a first date, with tights and sneakers for a weekend getaway, or simply with your khaki shorts and boots for a cool day look alternative!

Check our exclusive edit of our favourite denim shearling jackets on the market right now!

We’re definitely on board with British Vogue’s view that Valentine’s day gifts should probably be doubled up this year. And to compliment delicious chocolates or a beautiful bouquet, we’d recommend a fashion gift. Nothing too full-blown like a dress mind, this isn’t an anniversary or birthday; just a thoughtful, chicly thematic token they’ll love that reflects their taste and, if you’re really on it, current trends. Red and pink, together and separately, is so hot right now and forward-thinking heart motifs are all the rage.

Find out their shoe size in advance if you’re going for a sexy heel, fancy flat, shearling slide or heart-stamped sneaker they’ll open in delight and step straight into, whether you’re venturing out or staying in. An adorable knit that they’ll be able to wear to work and on the weekends without messing a beat is just the ticket too as it’s still pretty cold. And a new statement bag that they can use for special occasions (and showing off) is a great idea, especially with Lulu Guinness’ cult lip clutches available in so many colours. Sunglasses are now all year round essentials made charming with heart-shaped frames (which suit every face shape) and you can literally give them your heart- symbolically of course-with a key ring or bag charm.

Get your skates on and shop our edit below. Or feel free to forward this to whoever's getting your gift as there’s only a week to go!

Call us catty but we’ve always thought of ‘Uggs’ as shorthand for ‘ugly’ no matter the height or colour. And Y/Project’s Creative Director Glenn Martens has taken up the ‘ugly shoe’ trend baton and pushed it to new and extreme heights quite literally by lengthening and widening the boot for his AW18 menswear collection, shown last week in in Paris. It’s worth pointing out that there are three styles in this Y/Project x Ugg collaboration which all reflect the exaggerated proportions that the Parisian upstart brand is making it’s name with. The big question wasn’t whether they’d be comfortable- of course they’ll be. Martens himself described wearing Uggs as "putting your foot in a warm pot of butter" to Vogue.com and wanted to extend that admittedly wonderful feeling when faced with a super cold winter up the leg towards the crotch. And having worn these glorified slippers when they were hot during the mid Noughties, (thank you Sienna Miller) we can’t disagree. But would you wear the thigh-high ones?

If the answer’s yes, how? They were styled with oversized tops and jacket sans trousers (you wouldn't want to sweat in them?) on the runway allowing cheeky flashes of thigh that would usually be hidden. Exactly how we’d imagine Rihanna rocking them with the IDGAF attitude that’s essential for these. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a pair already winging its way to the stylish superstar as she’s a big fan of Y/Project who did her Anti Tour outfits. The swathes of suede and shearling that would be sheathing your legs are definitely cool but clearly casual, making this look fine at home or for an off-duty, weekend outing. But nowhere else as the boots can’t really be teamed with dresses, skirts and trousers because they're too bulky. But maybe that’s the point and people with the budget can save them exclusively for certain occasions. Uggs are notoriously not waterproof, even if you cover them with suede shoe protector, so the upkeep and frustratingly inevitable wet patches if you wear them out may not be worth it.

Shop our UGG edit below because whatever you think of the thigh-highs, the lower styles are much easier to wear and apparently a revival is underway.

Just when you thought your awesome winter coat couldn’t be one-upped, ask yourself this: is it reversible? If so, you’ve got two of them for the price of one and much more bang for your buck this winter. By simply turning it inside out, you’ve doubled your wardrobe options instantly and there’s little chance of getting bored with your outerwear as the mercury continues to drop. And we’ve noticed that there tends to be a more muted, classic side and then a bolder, statement-making side for when you want to be the centre of attention.

Right, so which one to choose? Choosing a reversible coat is a great to half-commit to a trend you know will pass or you’re not really sure about. There are such wonderful contrasts between the two sides: fluffy and smooth, patterned and plain, bright and neutral and more allowing them to be dressed up and down to taste. These special styles are available for both women and men in almost every coat type- trench, quilted, shearling, waterproof included- so there’s no excuse not to try this trend.
