With temperatures rising ever so slightly, and the sun gracing us with its presence this morning we thought of going for something lighter. And what could be more breezy, light and yet so personal than a slogan tee? Slogan t-shirts made their massive comeback last season and during the SS17 shows specifically, last September. Fashion month provided us with an array of fashionistas who layered, styled and donned those slogan tees to a T!

Here our main reasons why you should wear a slogan tee this Fall.

ICE-BREAKER

You're bound to grab attention. Whether you like it or not, clothes say a lot about how we are let alone if we spell it out on our tops. The tee could easily be an icebreaker and topic of conversation between you and the guy standing in line for your morning chai latte?

SAYS A LOT ABOUT YOU

It's personal. Although slogan tees are a trend, hence not as personal, the message can be a reflection of your individual style and mind set. Whether it's a pun on feminism, a political statement, a funny random quote or ever a rocker tee. Slogan were, are and always will be quite personal. And there's nothing wrong with that.

EASY TO STYLE

They're quite easy to style and incorporate in literally any wardrobe. You can go for a girly look and tuck it inside a floor length skirt, paired with a GG belt and mules. It's the perfect addition if you want to tone down and make a classic look edgier. If you want to spice up your business attire, don a slogan tee under your check blazer and trousers. On the other hand you can go for the rocker look, or simply keep it casual with a luxe knit cardigan, vinyl leggings and ankle boots.

TRANSITIONAL WEATHER FRIENDLY

Fits this weather. If the weather hasn't made up it's mind why should you? Tees are the perfect way to go during transitional weather as you can layer up, or layer down according to your environment and occasion. And if you are going for a t-shirt this season, why not make it personal and sport one with a slogan?

Can't wait to get your hands on a slogan t-shirt? Check out our edit of this season's best slogan tee picks!

We’ve all dreamed of having a perfect Instagram feed with thousands of followers, but realising that today Instagram can quite literally be a full-time job, many of us have given up.

Luckily, we have a few simple tips that will instantly make your feed look amazing.

Choose a theme
Sticking to a theme is very important to make your Instagram feed look good. Some of our favourites are the minimalist theme (very bright with a lot of white), sticking to a particular colour, or even having only quotes in the left-hand-side column.

Have a consistent filter
For a neat looking feed, you should stick to a specific filter. We recommend using apps on which you perform the same edit every time and our favourites are vsco, after light, and faded.

Vary your posts
Be creative and play with different angles and subjects to keep your followers interested. No one wants to follow an account that posts only selfies… If you’re looking to switch it up, trying adding a photo of your style icon for example, they usually perform really well!

The ensemble must look good
The key to an aesthetically pleasing feed is making sure your new photo matches the 1st and 3rd photos. For example, if you feel like they are quite detail heavy, the newest photo should be clean and simple to balance it out. A quote, a scenery picture or even a empty coloured photo will do the job!

Keep captions brief
The trick is to have a short caption and to hashtag selectively. Be sure to skip the trending hashtags, adding #girl #cute #tanktop #blog #love #followme is never a good idea. Firstly, those hashtags don’t work, secondly, they’re annoying to everyone and thirdly, they don’t make any sense.

Tag brands
If you post a lot of photos with clothes, be sure to tag the brands. If you’re lucky, they’ll repost your image, and even if they don’t, you’ll still be in their tagged photos section.

Now let the followers roll in...

If you've clicked on this article because you think you might be dating a f*ck boy, then you probably are. But don't worry gal, it's happened to the best of us. Make absolutely sure by seeing which of these 10 tell tale signs your other half is guilty of:

1. He doesn't believe in labels.

You'll see each other most evenings, you've met his parents and friends but he doesn't call you his girlfriend. Even though you are, apart from you're not. You'll tell yourself he got hurt in a past relationship, or that it's better because there's less pressure and you can just chill.

No hu-uunny. No. He does this, so that when you see him texting another girl, you can't freak out because you're not technically official or exclusive. Plus, it means he doesn't have to take any responsibility because you "were never officially together".

2. He is a completely different person with his friends.

Everyone changes their personality slightly depending on who they're around, for instance I try and control my swearing when I'm with the grandparents. But the fella you're dating changes his personality completely. In private he might be sweet, caring and not an absolute douche. Yet when he's with his friends he turns into an idiot.

Lad culture is not ok, and if he becomes an ignorant arse when around his 'boys', get out. You'll tell yourself that the real him is the one you see in private, but you don't know that. If he has that side to him, then girl, you don't want that in your life.

3. In public he acts like he barely knows you.

A classic f*ck boy move is to not introduce you to people when you're out together, or call you his "friend". You need a partner who wants to scream your name from the rooftops.

4. Every single one of his ex's he calls "crazy".

He thinks all his ex girlfriends were psychopaths, and that nothing that happened in his past relationships were his fault. Yet when you meet one of them she seems lovely, or friends of friends vouch that she's sane and just doesn't like being cheated on. They all wronged him in some way, and he acts like the victim. Gal, hate to break it to you, but mathematically they probably weren't all crazy, maybe he is...

5. He has zero ambition.

He may have a job, but he hates it and blames the world for that fact. It's not his fault that he flunked his degree or hasn't been promoted- no it's the evil, cruel world that's victimising him.

6. He is obsessed with how many people you've slept with.

He brags openly that he has bedded dozens of lady friends. You on the other hand don't see the point of 'numbers', because you are a functioning human being who has mentally matured over the age of 16. However, he won't drop it.

If you cave and tell him, no number will ever be right. 2 and he'll call you a prude, 20 and he'll say some disgusting quote like "A key that opens many locks is a good key, but a lock that is opened by many keys is a bad key". Literally doesn't that saying just make you want to vomit and despair for the world.

7. He uses the word "slut".

This rule doesn't just apply to f*ck boys, if anyone in your life uses the word "slut" then cut them off. Honestly, just not ok. Side note, he will not hesitate in calling a woman a "slut" and branding her actions wrong but in the same vein will boast about all the "sluts he's banged".

8. He is weirdly possessive with his phone.

Phones are private, and yes you should never break that trust and look through someone's phone. However, being jumpy every time he gets a text, shielding his password like he's typing in his pin at a cash point and taking it literally everywhere with him is not normal behaviour. F*ck boy alert.

9. He goes M.I.A a lot.

Sometimes he'll just randomly not speak or see you for a week at a time, and then pop back up in your life. Or never pop back up and then you find out he has a new girlfriend. Yeah, he's weighing up his options and keeping you in his roster. What a f*uck boy move.

10. He asks for nudes a lot and sends unsolicited dick pics.

A classic f*ck boy tactic, why is this still a thing? I'm pretty sure an unsolicited dick pic has never worked on a woman. Also, if he's asking you for nudes he is probably asking 20 other girls too in the hopes that one of them responds. Ew.

Any or most of these sound familiar? Then you, my friend, have got a f*ck boy on your hands. Once a f*ck boy, always a f*ck boy. So get rid, or just link him this article and I'm sure he'll get the picture...

You and your BFF are joined at the hip. You exchange approx 1000 messages on WhatsApp every day and may as well share a brain because you're that in sync. To quote SINTC "maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with". Let's be honest, your BFF is your platonic soulmate...

1. You Get Separation Anxiety

When they leave you miss them instantly. Even though you know you'll see them in two days, you're filled with dread and internally scream "but I don't wanna socialise with anyone else".

2. You Can Go Out Out & Chill

You're as comfortable doing 10 tequila shots and coming home at 6am from a heavy night as you are eating takeaway and watching a movie. True love people.

3. You Have Each Other's Backs

It doesn't matter if your friend is wrong or not, in public you will defend her till the end. But you're good enough friends to call her on her bullshit when in private.

4. Tough Love

Your BFF is the only person you'll take tough love from and vice versa, because your soulmate will always tell you the truth, no matter what.

5. They're Your Cuddle Buddy

You spoon and give each other arm tickles- this level of affection means you're more than just BFFs- you're platonic soulmates.

6. You're In Sync

Nah not like that, although actually, you guys probably are. No, I mean you often find yourself saying the same thing and then squealing in excitement.

7. You Wish They Were A Dude

You wish they were the sex you're attracted to, life would be so much simpler.

8. You Plan Getting A Pet

You've had extremely in-depth discussions about what pet you would get and what its name would be. Also, which cute outfits you'd dress it in.

9. Your SOs Are Third Wheels

You get jealous when they enter a new relationship, but it all pans out because you're their number one priority. However, the boyfriend is never quite as happy about this set up and you guys enter a weird three-way-relationship.

10. You Guys Are A Nightmare Together

Everyone finds you *peak* annoying because you act like total idiots when together, but could you give a shit? Nope. Absolutely not.

Time Magazine just named Trump their 'Person of the Year', don't spit out your tea, this isn't a joke. The article, which you can read here, is very well written by Michael Scherer, and you almost find yourself understanding his point- but then it dawned on me, the main reason this article is palatable is because Trump's voice is barely heard within it. Which is odd, for a piece which is all about him. But no, instead what you can hear is logic, statistics, ideology and philosophy- with the odd quote from the President Elect thrown in for good measure.

It's easy to make something sound plausible or even positive when it's dressed up enough, statistics of unemployment and the Obama administration's failings try and persuade you that Trump's election is understandable.

Scherer writes that Trump's campaign was "not a campaign about the effects of tariffs on the price of batteries or basketball shoes. He spoke only of winning and losing, us and them, the strong and the weak. Trump is a student of the tabloids, a master of television. He had moonlighted as a professional wrestler. He knew how to win the crowd. First he needed to define the bad guys. Then he needed to knock them over".

This statement is true- Trump did play the media into his hand, he uses sensationalist language to win support, but this isn't the issue. Yes, it makes people feel defeated that such showmanship can win over actual merit, but the problem lies more in how and who Trump defines as 'the bad guys'. How he gets people to agree with him is a lesser issue, it's what he's trying to get them to agree with that is scary for a lot of Americans, particularly the minorities.

Time magazine understand this fear, and the validity of this fear that many hold. But they also understand why Clinton's campaign, and its want to condemn this political darkness, was its biggest downfall. "By seeking to condemn the dark side of politics, Clinton's campaign may have accidentally validated it. By believing in the myth that Obama's election represented a permanent shift for the nation, they proved it was ephemeral. In the end, Trump revealed in these denunciations, which helped him market to his core supporters his determination to smash the existing elite".

The article finishes on a note of uncertainty "the truth is no one really knows what is going to happen, up to and including the occupants of Trump Tower. 'It's a very exciting time. It's been an amazing time' Trump says, as the country still tries to come to terms with what he accomplished. 'Hopefully we can take some of the drama out'."

This drama is unlikely to die down, because it was Trump who built his campaign on drama and won because of it. The phrase "you made your bed now sleep in it" springs to mind- because this climate he's created and egged on, where "white supremacists throw out Nazi salutes in Washington meeting halls for their President-elect" is now his mess to run.

Scherer finishes with this line "It's an America of renewed hope and paralysing fear, a country few expected less than a year ago. Because of Donald John Trump, whatever happens next, it will never be like it was before".

On the surface this piece makes me angry, but when you reach the end it feels comforting- Trump is our person of the year, whether we like it or not, because he's the new president-elect of America. This is the truth, no matter how uncomfortable.

Time Magazine naming Trump their 'Person of the Year' is apt. It's sensationalised, click-bait and misleading- just like Trump's political tactics.

Warning, the image above was used ironically. It's the perfect example of this "Tumblr culture" that is glamourising mental illness.

"Cute but psycho, but cute". Sorry to be blunt, but there's nothing cute about being a psychopath. The dictionary definition of this is "a person suffering from chronic mental disorder with abnormal or violent social behaviour". It's an illness, and not one that should be glorified or turned into a slogan.

It's a debate we've all heard before- the extent to which words like anxiety, OCD and depression have become trivialised. We're all guilty of misusing these terms, claiming "this weather is making me depressed" or quips of a similar nature. Ignorance is excusable to an extent, but most people know better than this. We know mental illness is serious, we know it affects 1 in 3 people and that suicide is the biggest cause of death for men between 20 and 49.

These kind of statistics have been increasingly promoted and shared in the media, thanks to the work of brilliant charities who are pushing for them to become common knowledge. But we are all still colloquially using terms that shouldn't be thrown around. You don't hear people compare a cold to cancer, just as we shouldn't compare being sad to being depressed. One is chronic and often terminal, there is a difference and it's insensitive to not recognise this.

It's a difficult subject, because most people don't mean it maliciously when they compare their trivial daily problems to mental illnesses, but it still needs to be challenged. Why? Because saying "I'm so depressed" when you mean sad isn't dangerous, it's ignorant and offensive, but not dangerous per say. What is dangerous is this teen culture emerging where young people think things like self-harm are cool. The fact that they are glamourising depression as something romantic or poetic on sites like Tumblr is worrying, and older generations should be concerned.

A perfect example of this glamorisation is the widespread reaction of teenagers to the film Suicide Squad. A quick look on Tumblr or weheartit and the feed is flooded with images of Harley Quinn and the Joker. Quotes like "she wouldn't die for him, that was too easy. Instead she was willing to live through the misery life brings, all for him" and others are extremely popular. The film is at no fault for this, because after seeing it I don't think it was glamourising  mental health- quite the opposite. But the reaction to it is worrying.

That quote is not a love young people should be aspiring to experience, its purpose is to show what an abusive relationship looks like. But society's constant trivialisation of mental illness has meant that younger generations aren't equipped to properly distinguish between what is healthy and what isn't. How can we blame them? How are they realistically going to be able to identify anxiety from nerves when the adults around them constantly confuse the two. How are they going to distinguish between a healthy relationship and an abusive one if they think being "psycho" is "cute"?

We all need to make a conscious effort to, firstly, challenge the way we use mental illnesses as descriptive terms, and secondly to educate ourselves so that we can educate the younger generations over the realities of mental illness.

If you feel like you need support, or to find out more about mental health, visit Mind.org for information.
