Struggling to sleep in the summer heat? You’re not the only one. Seems like everyone’s circadian patterns are being disrupted by these warm summer nights but don’t fret, help is on the way…

A decent night’s sleep is essential for our physical and mental health so eight hours of undisturbed shut-eye is a must. If the summer weather is keeping you up, try these tips to rest a little better and wake up feeling fresh.

Breathe

Deep breathing is the easiest way to relax so invest in essential oils, diffusers or pillow sprays and practice deep breathing for ten minutes while you settle down to sleep. You’ll find this helps you drift off quickly and that your heartbeat stays regular, helping you to sleep deeply and calmly.

Lighten up

Opt for light layers made from natural fabrics like cotton, silk and linen. A pair of silk and lace pyjama shorts with a strappy camisole will feel cool and gentle against your skin, whereas an oversized cotton shirt will help your skin breathe in the heat.

Go natural

Choosing natural bed linen will also help to regulate your temperature while you sleep so consider investing in pure cotton and linen sheets and pillowcases.

Cover up

No, we don’t mean cover your skin – just your eyes. Using a soft silk or cotton eye mask will encourage a deeper sleep. A gentle weight across the brow bones can help with relaxation and as sleep experts will tell you, the darker your surroundings are, the better you’ll sleep.

Want to try these tips for yourself and get your sleep game back on point? Browse and shop our edit of summer sleep essentials below…

If there’s one thing our favourite influencers do well, it’s looking effortlessly cool. The secret to this is of course, feeling confident and comfortable in whatever you’re wearing, so it’s no surprise to spot the fash pack rocking nightwear as daywear in chic silk pyjamas.

The brand bloggers and fashion editors far and wide are turning to for their silken fix? Yolke. Perfect for lazy days, luxurious weekends in and ideal for trips and travels, Yolke make sumptuously soft cotton and silk pyjamas intended to be worn anywhere and everywhere.

The pyjama trend has become a hit in recent years and we love this brand for its versatile pieces and cool designs. Choose from classic stripes, boho florals and ultra-modern prints in button-down, camisole and wide-legged styles.

Team your jeans or smart trousers with a silk pyjama top for work, opt for cotton bottoms on holiday, lounge at home in a vintage-style set or rock silk stripes and heels for cocktails with the girls.

We’re pretty partial to wearing our sets on long-haul flights too – just add a matching silk eye mask to perfect that effortless luxury traveller look.

Cross-brand collaborations have become one of the most anticipated events in the fashion industry, giving us a new look at the labels we love, offering insight into the visual and cultural exchange of creative processes.

Virgil Abloh, man-of-the-moment and newly appointed artistic director of menswear for Louis Vuitton, famously married street culture with luxury, proving to the fashion scene that streetwear could and should be taken seriously.

Founded in London, Browns Fashion is a world-renowned boutique, famous for discovering designers from Alexander McQueen to Simone Rocha. Now, Virgil Abloh, the man behind Off-White™, has teamed up with Browns to design an exclusive collection.

Off-White™ x Browns is a capsule of 21 pieces for men and women. The collection features some of the brand’s most iconic styles reinvented and reworked in fresh silhouettes, new colours and with unique twists that celebrate the idiosyncrasies of each brand.

Delicate hand-drawn floral patterns meet tough jackets and pyjama sets, bags get an update in shades of blue and military green and of course, Abloh's signature “X” adorns many of the pieces.

Described as 'a mix of street and chic sensibilities wrapped in one expression', this exclusive capsule is guaranteed to raise your fashion game and turn heads wherever you go.

If there's one trend that should never go out of style that is comfortable looks. It's essential to any outfit to feel that it moves along with the body and facilitates our lives instead of being constricting and well... a burden. Which is why when pyjamas became an official outerwear trend there must have been a universal sigh of relief heard across the world of women tired of their binding and uncomfortable clothing.

Loungewear worn as everyday clothing became a massive trend including the very popular slip dress, the bralette and corset. But there's something innately brilliant about sporting pyjamas as an outfit because in a way it resembles a more relaxed version of a business suit. Inspired by the 20's and Coco Chanel this trend shows no signs of slowing down and we're completely on board. Opt for a cover-up or a kimono for starters as an outerwear and then don a full head-to-toe pyjama look taking cues from Olivia Palermo, Rihanna, and Gigi Hadid to name a few.

Browse through our gallery for pyjama-specific inspiration and then shop your favourite looks in our exclusive edit below!

Nanushka was born in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, more than a decade ago, but is finally getting under the spotlight. If you spend your days cruising on Instagram, you definitely saw the brand's design: maybe a dress, a coat... fashionistas love it! From Song of Style to NYC Bambi, without forgetting the French it-girl Caroline de Maigret, they all wear Nanushka.

It's hard not to fall for its amazing outerwear, their famous lilac wrap dress.

We had the chance to meet Sandra Sandor, the designer behind the brand, during Paris Fashion Week, for an exclusive interview, to chat about the story of the brand and what we should expect in the future.

Shopcade: What brought you to fashion ?

Sandra: Actually, it was a given way for me because my mother was a children's wear designer in the 70s prior to the fall of the Iron Curtain. Dressing was always a very important self-expression form for me. I wasn't sure that I wanted to become a designer until the age of 17. Then, I thought that I really want to try to study fashion design and it was very interesting because you know, in Hungary, there is no history in fashion and there aren't many fashion schools. I really wanted to study fashion somewhere where it was very relevant.

After studying in the London College of Fashion, I went back to Budapest were Nanushka began, back in 2006.

How do you define Nanushka's style?

S: We usually think of ourselves as a bridge between intuitive and functional design. The clothes that we will keep loving and will become our wardrobe staples are those in which we really feel comfortable in as well. So, we try to execute this also in the design from the choice of fabric. We try to make everything washable. Nothing gets very wrinkly. It's comfortable wear for every season and good for both seasons. Of course, we do have fur coats for winter, but it has a soft feel.

I don't think trends are ad-hoc things they reflect our surroundings and the people around us. Nanushka, from a design perspective is trying to be relevant for the era we live in.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

S: My main source of inspiration as a designer it to try to create harmony, while mixing very distant cultural references, like Western with Oriental or Far Eastern. Actually, these two have been permeating through our collections. Sometimes even for three seasons, we kind of have a theme that carries over and we maybe add an extra inspiration. As a designer, I don't want to jump in too quickly.

The next season is already coming, but I like to keep the inspiration flowing for longer. Mixing the Wild Western boots with Far Eastern culture has been going since Resort 18, carried over to our SS18. For Pre-Fall 18/19, we added 90s Berlin colors and silhouettes, as well as vegan leathers.

Also, as a general inspiration, the traveling state of mind really inspires me. When you travel, you're very receptive, very open and almost like a child state of mind, and comfort becomes essential.

How do you want women to feel when they wear your clothes?

S: I really want them to feel confident, easy, effortless.

Called the label to watch by fashionistas, how do you feel about social media ?

S: Social media really helped us grow. We kind of think of ourselves as a lifestyle brand. We try to make our social media platform a moodboard of our brand and also a source of inspiration. Influencers is our secret in a way. We never pay for partnerships, but we work with influencers who represent our brand values. I think it's important for a brand to give to the right people, no with the biggest followers, because their followers are similar to ours.

What's your favorite piece from the current collection ?

S: From the SS18, our tiger-inspired print made with watercolor painting, and digitally printed on fabric fabric is my favorite. We made a pair of long pants from it called Nevada pants, inspired by pyjama pants from Coco Chanel in the 30s or 40s. She was the first woman to wear pyjama pants as a daily wear I think.

What should we expect for the future collections ?

S: The values and clashing cultures as a source of inspiration will definitely remain, I think it's important to highlight where I come from. Hungary has always been an intersection of East and West. The German Empire had a big effect on us, as well as Turkish culture and the Parisian Belle Epoque.

At the turn of the century, travel was open for everyone. Hungarians and artists came to Paris to get some inspiration and change their values etc. So, when you come to Budapest, you'll find a Turkish bath on one side of the street, next to Brutalist buildings on the other side. So it's a mix of cultures.

But going back to how I imagine my future collections, I think we're going to develop, while our core brand values and sources of inspiration remain. And spice it up with the season's trends. A good balance.

If you had to pick only one piece you created, which one would it be?

S: Hard question! But I love outerwear and our brand is really known for that. So I would probably pick a coat, specifically a robe coat.

What are your do's and don'ts when it comes to fashion ?

S: I don't really believe in do's and don'ts. I think you can get away with anything if you put it in the right context.

What is the must-have of every outfit?

S: The right pair of shoes, they define the whole outfit in the end. But I could also say that a good pair of jeans is a must.

Inspired by the louche loungewear of the twenties, the street style trend of the silk pyjamas emerged a few seasons ago and is still making noise across the fashion world. The allure of silk got designers excited to offer a larger offering the last few seasons. Silk converts include Victoria Beckham, Etro, Valentino and Roksada.

One of the main reasons why this trend shows no signs of waning down is the fact that it strikes the elusive combo: style & utter comfort. You probably were one of the first initiators of the trend, that day, a long time ago, when you attempted to go to school in your pyjamas, but your mother stopped you just in time. Well, now you can sport those pyjamas with pride.

STYLE TIPS

If the thought of wearing silk pyjamas in broad daylight is giving you nightmares then, start slow. Pick a lace camisole and wear it with your dressed up jeans, following in the footsteps of Emily Ratajkovski

Take it a step further by sporting a silk robe as a jacket. When you've surpassed this level, you can wear heels with a matching set and a clutch embellished with pearls. Voila! You' re ready to rock your first silk pyjama set with confidence.

After the recent fashion week shows in Paris, we noticed a trend happening in street style that relieves the burdens of a stressful week. What was it? Silk robe coats! What’s more, these luxe pieces were more often than not being paired with a T-shirt and jeans—and it was incredibly cool. This trend follows in the path paved by bralettes, corsets and of course the slip dress being worn out of the bedroom and into broad daylight.

This underwear as outerwear trend or more specifically this private-wear goes public fixation has been taking place for quite a while now. From Madonna's cone bras and corsets to Rihanna's robe or pyjama look. Since now the mere mortals have caught on this seductive trend more designers are producing robes meant both for indoors and at a glamorous party.

From Etro to a plethora of vibrant prints and colours at Roberto Cavalli to botanical garden inspiration at Alberta Ferretti or pure Americana vibes at Elie Saab. Then again you can never go wrong with a Coachella staple: The kimono.

Whatever your style this season have a look at our exclusive edit below and you'll find the perfect cover-up for you!

I didn't even know what to title this look - hence I have simply gone for the woman herself, Selena. Selena stunned us all in New York recently going out for dinner with some girl friends. I can't imagine anyone rocking up to supper looking quite so chic. Her silk dress whispers of the pyjama as evening wear trend but the leg slit adds even more drama. I love that Selena has paired such a delicate yet statement dress with a patchwork faux fur. The pink and almond hues blend surprisingly well with the dress' sheen. A totally dramatic dinner getup I can't get enough of. Image: Elle

I´ve always been a fan of burgundy in any fashion piece. So this pyjama set by colrovie caught my attention very easily. I adore how t looks to be the perfect mix of comfort and sexiness. And that is very hard to find in a nightwear piece. I could be wearing this a whole day in my house in a Netflix and chill vibe, I would know that I will still look good if any hot neighbor comes by. Hands up if you haven’t changed out of your pyjamas since Christmas day? Us neither and there’s no need to change even if you’re heading out, provided you’ve upgraded your nightwear. Pyjama dressing for women, as in wearing patterned, matching button up tops and trousers, slinky slips and robes, is still a major trend and over the course of the year, plenty of exciting brands have popped up. Asceno, Morpho + Luna and more are all delivering vibrant styles with elevated fits and fabrics that you’ll want to show off well beyond the bedroom. It’s comfortable fashion at it’s very best and definitely dressy- just add heels for a night out or denim to create a killer smart-casual day look. Trainers are a fashionable foil for a slip.
