The days of men leaving bags to women are long gone. Brands and designers have really upped their game by delivering every shape, colour and size you could wish for, from tactile totes to on-point rucksacks. Plus you just can’t beat their functionality as you might need more than a pocket-full of essentials when you’re out and about. Over-stuffing is a big no-no. So with so many styles to choose from, how do you distinguish the best from the merely good? Quality of material for one, then hone in on the details and craftsmanship. Of course this totally depends on your existing collection and what you’re planning on using your bag for but the best ones excel in that situation as well.

We’ll take “earspiration” from anywhere at this point as the statement earring’s fashion renaissance is only getting bigger and better. The best source we’ve seen, and our current Instacrush, is @earafterear by DVF’s Senior Content Director Tilly Macalister-Smith (final picture above). The captivating feed the now New York based ex British Vogue staffer expertly curates features beautiful images of the world’s most creative and covetable earrings from jewellers past and present. Exquisite chandlers, jagged shards of metal, artsy hoops- it’s a sight to behold and very bad news for your credit card.

What’s clear is that size doesn’t really matter when it comes to earrings; even the smallest ones can have the wow-factor if visible and there's so much admirable craftsmanship. The must-follow account also spotlights the lobes and the jewellery collections of some of your favourite editors and streetstyle stars like Pandora Sykes and The Sunday Times Fashion Director Jane McFarland; while bringing incredible finds to your attention as Macalister-Smith’s discovers them.

Judging by the Ear After Ear website linked in the bio, an e-store is on the horizon but in the meantime, shop our exciting earring edit below to create your own ear party!

Dressing chic in winter can be quite a conundrum. So investing in key pieces for winter is essential to maintaining a fashionable and functional winter wardrobe. Case in point: The striped sweater. Ever since French Capri dressing became a vital way of dressing thanks to Coco Chanel the popularity of the striped Bardot shoulder top rose to the top. It's the perfect piece of clothing that you can strategise your winter wardrobe around because it's elegant and very versatile. Here are three ways you can sport it this winter:

Even though Pantone's 2017 color of choice was " Greenery", a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade symbolising new beginnings the truth of the matter is, the year felt like it was dedicated to millenial pink. Actually there's never been a year so chromatically in sync with Elle Woods wardrobe - Ever. But, as all Barbie things come to an end, Pantone's 2018 Color of the Year will be "Ultra Violet, a "spiritual, cosmic" purple that "communicates originality ingenuity and visionary thinking that point us toward the future".

Maybe ultra violet is a mature shade of millenial pink? This shade of purple is very reminiscent of late icon Prince and Purple Rain although Pantone's hue is much more brighter and mysterious.

Are you ready to immerse yourself in head-to-toe Ultra Violet? Scroll down below and shop your favourite styles from our edit!

As of late there's a new addition to the already ever growing corduroy pants trend craze. The fabric that we ‘ve mostly associated with muted earthy tones such as chocolate brown, khaki green, off white and maybe midnight blue is now getting a bold makeover. (We could even say Barbie). Celine was the first to feature floor-skimming rose coloured cords for AW17. Then the high street quickly followed. Mango released a version of pink high-waisted cords as one of their key items for 2017.

So it came as no surprise when influencers from coast to coast from Lisa Aiken to Camille Charriere and Irina Lakicevic were seen sporting them. And though we completely get the appeal of the $65 price point, Isabel Marant and Acne studios have also shown wonderfully poppy versions of the flared corduroy pants.

Ready to add them to your wardrobe? Take your pick from our exclusive edit below!

So pointy. So sexy! ‘Buy them immediately’ was our instant reaction to the vampy mule. And by ‘vampy’, we mean the sensibly heeled mules’ latest makeover- a V-shaped slit in the vamp, mirroring the sharp toe. Some of them even allow a tantalising flash of toe cleavage. They are streetstyle stars turned designers Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio’s signature shoe don’t you know, for their contemporary party-perfect Italian brand Attico. Available in a range of materials and finishes, these trendsetters style them with a rainbow of chic ankle buckles.

Vampy mules aren’t completely new, though, because Balenciaga’s knife point satin mules- bowed and in Quality Street wrapper shades- were the streetstyle hit of the summer, with editors waxing lyrical about their polarising-but-amazing qualities. Then Finery London released their Cudworth style in patent black which might just be the ultimate 18 hour shoe. If you’ve been looking for a pair of heels to take you from desk to disco, without packing flats in your bag for the journey home, these are they. Use them to add an enticing edge to dresses, tailoring and off-duty dressing and let the compliments roll in.

All you’ll be able to fit into a teeny tiny bag are some coins, a key, a credit card and a lipstick if you’re lucky. If you can squeeze in your iPhone- say 6 and up- then it may be too big. And an umbrella, notebook and/or snack is out of the question. But doesn’t that defeat the purpose of a bag- to carry everything we need? Yes it does but these doll-sized accessories are just too adorable not to tote.

Case in point: Rihanna in Barbados last week when she attended her street-naming ceremony. As bright as the superstar’s head-to-toe yellow outfit was, the teeny, tiny bag from Jacquemus (a French brand known for it’s quirky proportion play) was the ladylike touch that made a much bigger statement. Downsizing to these levels was previously reserved for parties and yet the streetstyle set have been showing off shrunken cult styles from Chloé, Fendi, Chanel and more for a few seasons now. If you’ve ever said you weren’t attached your material possessions, here’s a stylish way to prove it.

If you’re wondering what the coolest girls are wearing this party season, look no further than the velvet suit. ‘Why?!’ We hear you cry. Because as tactile and as luxe as this tailored two-piece is, and yet another winning '70s throwback, it never looks too try-hard. Quite unlike a dress or cleverly co-ordinated separates. That’s the key point and Alexa Chung and Poppy Delevingne have both rocked this look in the past.

To (velvet) suit up yourself: Mango is great place to start with its unexpected colour palette and tasteful cuts. Plus you’ll get even more dressing inspo from the brand's own gaggle of cool-girl ambassadors, Camille Charrière included. If you’re going down the designer route, try Racil, Haider Ackermann (a velvet suit specialist) and Saint Laurent (Yves Saint Laurent did create the iconic Le Smoking suit after all) for stunning suiting that will last a lifetime. Underneath add a wisp of a camisole or nothing but a spritz of perfume.

Selena Gomez stunned in this black, almost Grease-inspired look at the awards which celebrates upcoming female leaders in music. She was awarded with the 'Woman of the Year' award, and we can clearly see why. Her style is always on point! Her makeup is super natural but super sleek with the nude lipstick complimenting her skin tone and outfit. The belt makes it all the more eye-catching and is a perfect accessory to her look! #selenagomez #womeninmusic Credit: fashion_week Instagram
