COS has long been a style set staple – from Bauhaus-inspired accessories to impossibly soft cashmere essentials and ultra-cool oversized silhouettes, the brand’s designs always hit the sweet spot between effortless cool and minimalist elegance.

There’s a lot to be said for the COS approach to gendered dressing too. It’s styles are androgynous, oversized or tailored to perfection – ideal for back to school season and lazy girl office attire.

Now that fall has arrived we’ve been keeping our eyes peeled for simple staples to make layering up that little bit easier. Naturally, COS is our go-to for this.

The brand’s Fall/Winter18 collection blends cool neutral tones with textural wool, felt and leather while sticking to those modernist silhouettes we all know and love.

Drawing inspiration from the shapes found where architecture meets the forest and sea, the collection was shot by photographer VIVIANE SASSEN. Textural contrasts give the impression of rough industrial surfaces juxtaposed with fluid natural lines.

Black silk is the hero of the collection with dresses, pants, blouses and jackets taking centre stage. The beauty of these pieces is of course that they can be layered with just about anything for work, the weekend and beyond.

We’re filling our closets for the cooler season to come and we’ve also created an edit of our favourite COS pieces.

When we’re on the lookout for new-season pieces from cutting-edge brands there’s usually one store that springs to mind. W Concept is our go-to for anything from high-end streetwear to IT-bags and to our delight, their new-season lines have just dropped...

Suiting is huge for fall – you only need to check the coverage from this month’s Fashion Week Events to see that – so naturally, we’ve got our eye on the Drama Collection by FRONTROW, a tailored line-up crafted using innovative tech fabric.

The label has applied its flair for garment technology to a collection of cool, androgynous pieces for season ahead – think sleek pants, statement blazers and block-color separates as seen all over the style set’s Instagram feeds.

The Drama Collection is all about boyfriend styles so expect ultra-flattering cuts in lightweight stretch-fabric that hang perfectly on the body. No bunching, no draping, just cool oversized jackets and a choice of slim, flared or voluminous pants.

Classic gray and black, rust-toned brick and autumnal camel tap into this season’s biggest color trends, meaning it’s easy to mix and match these simple separates to turn your look up or down.

There’s nothing cooler than a woman in a well-fitting suit, so we’re taking cues from cool ‘70s layering and androgynous ‘80s styling to raise our game this season.

Véronique Forge-Karibian Founder of the French platform for female entrepreneurs, Business O Feminin, lets us in on her secrets to a healthy work/life balance, her go-to brands and how to succeed as a woman in business...

Why did you create Business O Feminin?

I had the chance to work on a show about women called Women of Exception for several years in which I interviewed women with like Christine Lagarde and Simone Veil but also business minds like Mathilde Thomas of Caudalie and artists like Dee Bridgewater.

What fascinates me about all these women is their path in life, their thread and the entanglement of the circumstances that helped them find their way. Through Businessofeminin.com, I wanted to give all women the ability to fulfil their professional potential and develop their full personal potential.

How do you juggle your personal life and your career?

I am fortunate to have help with my two children who are still young. I also try to spare some time for myself – I lived in London for nine years and in that time I started playing a lot of sports, which I still love to do. In the mornings I have my rituals and begin the day by using the Calm app to meditate. It’s a great little app that helps teach a life-changing practice.

What are the pieces in your wardrobe that make you feel most confident?

I like to feel comfortable in my clothes and not be too overdressed. I'm pretty keen on suede jackets, especially from the brand Van Palma. I wear them with jeans by Closed or leather pants by Fête Impérial. I’m also a hat person and I love Estrée for these.

What essentials do you always carry with you?

I always carry a pouch that turns into an evening bag in my handbag and in terms of other essentials I really like Clio Goldbrenner's new chic and practical collection. As for beauty, I carry a survival kit comprised of Mademoiselle Saint Germain's eye cream with cucumber, Glossier's pink blush and my favourite, By Terry's rose balm for my lips.

Long days at the office can take its toll on your skin. Tell us about your skincare routine…

Always remove make up before bed, apply a mask twice a week and stay hydrated. This season I’ve been road testing a cream by Raw Material and a pomegranate serum from Wisdom Cares. I also do a deep skin cleanse every month to maintain a healthy glow.

Who inspires you?

I have a lot of admiration for Arianna Huffington, the founder of the Huffington Post, whom I had the chance to meet in London. She is extremely intelligent, cultured and visionary and the proof is in her new project, Thrive Global, a media platform geared towards personal development. She has drawn on her own experiences of burn out in order to help people take a step back and enjoy the multiple aspects of their lives.

What would you say is the secret recipe for becoming an accomplished businessperson?

Finding a balance between personal and professional life and always saving a little time for yourself. Before you start, meet other entrepreneurs to exchange experiences, ideas and insights and join existing communities, like the Business O Feminine Club. We organise monthly meetings with entrepreneurs, coaches and leaders to share knowledge and give women the tools they need to succeed.

What is your favourite motivational quote?

I have two… "They did not know it was impossible, so they did it" – Mark Twain. "Well behaved women rarely make history." – Eleonor Roosevelt.

It’s official: corduroy is cool again. First seen on the Fall ‘18 runway, we’re now spotting the trend on some of our favorite influencers. Here’s how to work the trend into your seasonal wardrobe.

If you’re looking to try this season’s ‘70s trend, this is the perfect way to do it. Try wide-leg pants in tan or camel and keep the look modern with a simple gray sweater or a silk shirt.

Show-goers at Fashion Week were snapped wearing cord head to toe, which looked especially cool in fresh, bright hues. Try an an oversized jacket and a skirt for a contemporary feel and finish the look with a simple white T-shirt.

If in doubt, keep it simple. A classic corduroy jacket will look effortlessly cool with a pair of jeans. Any shape goes: blazers, trench coats and quilted styles were all spotted on the runway, so take your pick.

The army jacket is back and it's cooler than ever. An off-duty staple made essential by the likes of Kate Moss, Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung, the olive-toned military jacket is a fall must-have once again.

Cool, grungy and incredibly versatile, team yours with anything from distressed denim and boots to a belted midi dress and spike heels. Take cues from Anine Bing and rock yours with skinny leather pants and a neckerchief or opt for a simple Breton tee and pleated skirt combo.

Perfect layered over a cozy sweater or thrown over a shift dress, the styling possibilities are endless. Plus, when the weather gets colder, simply team yours with knitted accessories and biker boots.

Ready to shop for the new season but overwhelmed by all the trends? Don’t worry – we’ve rounded up the best looks from London Fashion Week, along with our favourite AW18 pieces.
Modern military

It’s not unusual for military pieces to appear on the AW runway, but Belstaff’s collection was a fresh take on the trend. We loved the printed hoodies worn with double-breasted coats and zipped cargo pants.

Reworked classics

For AW18, Burberry gave its iconic pieces a contemporary update: see the oversized trench coats, rainbow logo-embroidered sweatshirts and checked baseball caps.

Tonal tailoring

Loved for its pared-back minimalism, Joseph’s autumn collection did not disappoint. A standout look consisted of clean brown tailoring worn with a sharp camel coat.

Utility cool

JW Anderson’s show combined menswear and womenswear, but each had an effortless utilitarian feel. We predict the graphic knit sweaters and relaxed khaki pants will be an instant hit.

Industrial outerwear

Not only were the coats and jackets at Christopher Raeburn incredibly cool, they were also constructed from recycled materials. Look out for the checked wool pieces made from Russian navy blankets.

Asymmetric shapes

Chalayan’s deconstructed designs made ordinary wardrobe staples feel completely unique – check out the cut-out trousers and cleverly folded coats in the line-up.

Heritage checks

You can always count on Margaret Howell to deliver timeless pieces that will transcend seasons – for example, the checked shirts and Prince of Wales tailoring seen on the runway.

Retro refresh

‘70s references could be spotted throughout Oliver Spencer’s show, but in the most understated way: see the corduroy and velvet trousers and shearling jackets.

Sports luxe

Sportswear has become a fixture on the runway, and it’s not going anywhere fast. Band of Outsiders mixed retro tracksuits with smart tailoring for a fresh take on the trend.

Go graphic

Bold logo prints are still dominating the street style circuit, and it looks like they’re sticking around for another season. Cottweiler’s final look was an oversized T-shirt embroidered with the Natural History Museum’s name – also the location of the label's show.

Now that September's here and New York Fashion Week has graced us once again, it’s time to reflect on the trends we saw on the runways and get excited about wearing them in real life. Here’s our round-up of the top ten trends we loved at NYFW and the ones you'll be seeing everywhere...

Animal print

Already spotted on our favorite street style stars, animal prints ruled the New York runways. Tom Ford’s came in every shape and color you could imagine, but classic leopard patterns still dominate – see Victoria Beckham’s timeless coats.

Western boots

From slouchy over-the-knee shapes to classic cowboy styles, plenty of Western boots were worn on the runway this season. Whichever you choose, show them off with cropped denim or maximalist dresses.

Checks

They may be nothing new, but checks are about to have a major moment. Michael Kors and Calvin Klein 205W39NYC both showed punk-inspired tartan coats – we’ll be wearing them with denim and chunky boots.

Logomania

Logo prints have ruled the street style circuit for several seasons now, and they’re not going anywhere – Alexander Wang’s embellished tracksuits and Tom Ford’s sequined sweatshirts are proof if proof were ever needed.

Neon

Already championed by Kim Kardashian, neon brights popped up everywhere. We loved Calvin Klein’s industrial-style jackets and Tibi’s fluorescent sweaters teamed with low-key camel tailoring.

‘70s brown

Coach and Self-Portrait both showed plenty of ‘70s-inspired brown hues, proving the trend has serious staying power. Try a belted coat or midi dress for a timeless feel.

Colorful suiting

Navy and black will no longer do – suits this season came in every color possible. From candy pinks to pastel blues, any shade goes as long as you’re wearing it from head to toe.

‘80s maximalism

Tom Ford proved the ‘80s are here to stay for another season with purple leopard-print leggings, sequins and shoulder pads.

Modern sports

Sportswear is now a staple on the runway, and this season it came in sleek silhouettes with industrial details – think quilted nylon midi skirts and oversized drawstring pants.

The new utility

Military-inspired pieces make their way onto the catwalk every fall, and with good reason: a classic double-breasted coat or khaki jacket will never go out of style.

A recent Instagram post of Kim Kardashian already has over three million likes (and counting) – while that may be to do with the fact she looks great, we think the neon-pink dress she’s wearing definitely helps.

Blame Balenciaga – the label kicked off the trend on the Paris runway – but everyone is rocking this look right now. Kim K has since been spotted in a series of more neon looks, along with her sister Kylie Jenner, Bella Hadid and Blake Lively. Convinced yet?

This micro trend is part of the ‘80s theme seen across plenty of Fall ‘18 collections, and it’s the perfect way to refresh your fall wardrobe – an antidote to a usually understated season of gray, black and navy.

So, want to know how to wear neon satin now? It’s easier than you think. For Monday to Friday, take your styling cues from the Balenciaga runway and try a fluorescent top under a tailored jacket for a subtle flash of color.

When it comes to the weekend, try neon-striped track pants or high-vis sneakers for an instant off-duty refresh. At night, anything goes: a neon satin clutch, a pair of pumps or a figure-hugging dress is all you need to make an impact.

Plaid is always a trend when it’s Autumn. The season of going back to school calls all preppy styles in and plaid is a major one. This season especially plaid pants are a huge deal and I love it! You can either go bold like me with yellow plaid pants or go for more subtle colours to get the ultimate preppy vibes. #plaid #print #trend #preppy #school #fashion #streetstyle
