You may be stumped on how to update your look for the season ahead but it’s easier than you might think.A new piece of jewelry is always a safe bet for breathing new life into an old look. Take a quick look in your closet and determine your new-season style; are you more classic or modern?

For a classic look go for minimal stacks of gold and enamel or raw earth-toned touches. For modern twists try maximalist colour, chunky silhouettes, layering and unique design.

Want to know what’s trending for SS18? These are the accessories to invest in...

Statement earrings

Invest in a bunch of pendants to layer, including gold hoops in different sizes, necklaces of different lengths or statement rings that say something about you. The layering and the choice of accessories communicates your individuality so have fun with it.

Matchy matchy

For a black-tie evening or a more formal event, go for a matching necklace and set of earrings or, choose a simple necklace with multiple layers to stay on trend..

Arm party

The bride look of Shanina Shaik is so so stunning.  I really like that the hair and makeup were so natural and romantic, complementing so much her dress. And that hypnotizing diamond necklace makes the perfect touch of bling without overpowering the whole look.  photo credit: @whowhatwear on twitter  #bride #wedding #look #fashion

Pearls have always been a mainstay of chic women. Made famous by Coco Chanel herself, the simple, monochrome touch that a well-placed pearl necklace achieves is timeless.

Pearls are great for playing it safe so until now, they’ve been associated with twin sets and tea dresses than fashion-forward models and bloggers.

Things have changed… pearls are back in business and the bigger the better. We’re seeing pearl accessories everywhere, from the runway to our favourite fashion blogs with minimalist twists and punk accents galore.

It's very common to get stuck in a jewellery routine. As they constitute a very personal and occasionally expensive business it makes sense that we narrow it down to a select few necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings and wear the same every day; unless we restock.

But whether those items are emotionally valuable to you, for example, a ring passed down from your mother or a family heirloom with a great significance, or even just a ring that you purchased to celebrate a momentous occasion they tend to become second nature. We put them on and that habitual thing ends up becoming a very repetitive process that may, in fact, hinder our ability to experiment and evolve our looks.

Actually, jewellery provides many avenues of self-expression through new styling techniques or picking statement earrings that say something about you. A great styling tip is to layer your necklaces and make them stand out just like an individual statement piece would. It sounds very straight-forward but there is a difference between layering charms for example coins, to wearing statement pieces, like primitive jewellery, lettered pieces or experiment with textured items.

The next months finally graces your agenda, and it is about time to make new enjoyable memories, without breaking the bank. So now you've booked the flights, and can't wait to enjoy your newly reserved Airbnb or hotel room. But, before all of that, you need to go through the tedious task of packing.

Choose the right travel buddy

When it comes to picking your suitcase or bag, think resistant, lightweight and durable suitcases. This item should be an investment and will follow, we hope, for many, many holidays.

Be weather ready

Check the weather forecast just before leaving. The sunny getaway might transform into a singin’ in the rain weekend, and you want to be ready for it. Always have the unforgettable duo: sunglasses and umbrella in your bag.

Think outfits

Travelling for 3 days is not the same as for a week. Pick pieces from your day wardrobe that can be dressed up or down with accessories and shoes. The floral beach dress with high heels and gold hoops will be perfect for a dinner in town.

The black turtleneck paired with a nice pair of trousers and a statement necklace will be the star of the mountain chalet. Worst case scenario, if you really forget something, it is unlikely you can not buy it at your destination.

Toiletry essentials

Do not pack full-sized products. Your favorite products are surely available in a travel-size version. If they are not, buy an empty bottle kit that will comply with airline regulations and fill them up with your beloved beauty products.

It's all about memories

Make memories: whether you like drawing, writing or snapping pictures, you can keep your memories in a brand new way. Write a travel journal, sketch the church you like so much, take a polaroid of your love. More than an instant moment, you get the chance to share your holidays with your friends in a very personal way.

Some of my best fashion discoveries have been made on Instagram. Rock n Rose is my newest discovered brand. A flurry of dainty necklaces can be found on their feed. Most of their necklaces are gold and perfect for layering up with two or three more. One of my favourite pieces is definitely the 'feminist' necklace. A subtle statement that can be worn with absolutely anything. Image: Instagram @rocknrosegirls
