Happy Friday! We introduce you to a new instalment at Shopcade. Every week we will present an influencer, content creator or fashion muse that we find inspiring. #222222">This week we sat down with blogger and creator of Hues of White, Santina Harisson to talk about creating a blog in 2017, inspiration, morning routines and how to style denim!

#222222">
#222222">What compelled you to start a blog?

I founded huesofwhite.com in October 2016 as a way to express my love of Art, Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle. You will find chronicles of my daily musings and personal styling on huesofwhite.com. I also want to make people feel beautiful, confident in what they are wearing and inspire my readers through visual content and affordable clothing. My blog for me, represents who I am, a colourful, fun, likes to try anything kind of girl!
#222222">
#222222">What's your relationship with fashion? How did it start and what motivates you to keep at it?

I’ve always admired fashion from a young age and use to really enjoy trying on my mum’s vintage clothing and putting a little of her Chanel red lipstick on and thinking just how much I loved clothes! As I’ve always been interested in fashion and interior, I wanted to create an outlet where I could express my love for this industry. So whilst talking to my friend in PR early last year, the concept of Hues of White came about and I haven’t looked back since!
#222222">
#222222">How would you define your personal style? Do you have any icons people accounts that you follow?

My personal style is always evolving and the older I’m getting the better my decisions! I love to admire street styles and take note from these kind of girls. For me styling is all about working with what you currently have in your wardrobe whilst pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. My icons for inspiration are Lucy Williams, Aimee Song and Alexandra Spencer (she’s created the eclectic brand Realisation Par). Three different styles, three different takes on fashion but they wear things that identify to their personality!

You have an affinity for denim. What makes it special? And what do you look for in a quality denim purchase?

It’s no secret that I am a super huge fan of denim and they form an important piece to my wardrobe - I basically live in them if I’m honest! But what I think makes denim so special is that you can constantly find new ways to wear them. They are super versatile so I can wear the same pair in the day for a casual relaxed look and then completely transform them for an evening look, like these PAIGE jeans I am wearing from TRILOGY store, in London. I genuinely haven’t been able to take them off! The straight cut with raw hem is perfect for the AW17 trend and the quality of these are super sturdy so they don’t lose their fit. Which for me is the most important thing I look for when I purchase any kind of denim.
#222222">
#222222">Can you give us 3 ways to style denim?

To me, denim is the perfect base with which to pair anything that shows a little more or pushes you out of your comfort zone.

Going to work? Pair your jeans with a railroad-striped blazer and a T-shirt. It’s the perfect outfit equation for starting your day off right like I have here in my Paige Jeans from Trilogy Store.

For a casual look, try pairing bold accessories like a red scarf or bag, plus a printed top. It’s a sure fire way to make your jeans feel fresh.

Date Night? Slip on a pair of your statement heels teamed with either your favourite skinny or boyfriend style jeans, a lace top and you’re ready to start the night off right!
#222222">
#222222">What's the biggest misconception about having your own blog?

That it’s the easiest job in the world, because it’s far from that- it requires a lot of creative work and hours!
#222222">
#222222">What's your morning routine like?

Mornings at home are my favourite, and I love that I get to start the day how I want (it’s the only part of the day where I can slow down and enjoy my time!) My morning ritual normally includes playing a little music to get the day started off positively and I love making my own breakfast which tends to be a super bowl of ACAI in some form, mixed with fruit and granola (which my kids love!) whilst sipping a cup or two of coffee! I don’t wear a lot of makeup, and always try to keep it to a minimum but my morning routine is generally made up of tried-and-true look of natural makeup and gently waved hair and prepping my skin with REN’s gentle cleansing gel and supplement moisturising cream. I can’t live without these and pop them along in my bag wherever I go.
#222222">
#222222">What projects are you working on now?

Every time I get approached for a collaboration or get offered a job, I feel like it's a stamp of approval because it means my opinion matters so the products I have been working on mean the world to me. I have just finished working with Trilogy Stores on the perfect pair of Denim Pants for AW17 (here) but I am currently working with DUNE London to show you three ways to wear this season’s hottest boot trend and three ways to dress up sneakers! I am also currently working on something super special with REN and Olivia Rubin. So watch this space!

Hoorah! The summer holidays are fast approaching while packing for warmer climates and exotic sceneries is already on the agenda. After picking a swimsuit, summer dresses and a floppy hat deciding on kaftans and sunnies the attention quickly turns to summer beauty essentials. From bronzer to Day Cream with SPF here is your complete checklist of the best beauty products to pack this summer.

GETTING THERE

We don't know exactly where you're off to but we'd like to imagine it's somewhere exotic and plane travel is involved. So your beauty emergency travel kit should always be at hand. Face mask, ear plugs, day cream and lip balm will get you a long way when you're traveling. Also, a water- based face mist will leave your skin rejuvenated and awake even on the longest flight.

YOUR SUN PROTECTION KIT

There's no need to stress the harmful consequences of UV rays and the importance of investing in quality products for sun protection. That being said summer is about having fun so keep a small see through bag with your SPF essentials and enjoy yourself. Your plastic bag should include a face sunscreen with 30 minimum SPF and body sunscreen. You can start at a 25 SPF and lower as you feel more comfortable under the sun. Your lips also will need a boost so make sure you carry a fresh and moisturising lip balm, while a sun protective hair spray will do wonders for your locks that can be damaged from pool chlorine or sea water.

AT THE HOTEL

So you've enjoyed a full day at the beach and assuming that body gel and shampoo are provided at the hotel you should have a good after sun face and body moisturiser. For an extra hydrating and soothing effect splurge on body oil to show off that beautiful tan. When it comes to hair if you're tired of the straight hair dried look, pack your curler and salt spray. With only a few touches you can nail a very nonchalant beach tousled look.

YOUR MAKE UP

Your make up bag should consist of a tinted moisturizer, a slightly darker concealer and a highlighter or bronzer. No matter what your skin tone is, we all have to go a few tones darker when opting for makeup in the summer. There's nothing worst than reverse panda eyes due to a light concealer. You can keep the rest of your products the same as you use in the winter i.e. mascara, eye liner, eyebrow pencil and blush. You can also go for brighter bolder colours for your lipstick such as ginger, red, or flirty pink as they beautifully compliment sun kissed skin.

Summer is the time of bare skin exposed to the warm rays of sunshine that can be amazing for our mood (as we produce more serotonin - a mood-boosting hormone) but also very harsh for our skin and hair. Summer skincare is an entirely different chapter in beauty than our normal everyday beauty routine during winter. Excessive sun exposure can cause anything from pigmentation to skin dehydration, sunburn and premature ageing, but not with a proper summer skincare routine.

Here's what you'll need:

TONER
You wouldn't necessarily associate dry skin with summer but that's a myth. Sweating, in particular, can cause our skin pores to open up and that's when the toner is really helpful. Use your favourite toner after you've cleaned your skin thoroughly to help close the pores. Don't forget to moisturise and follow these simple basic steps every day to avoid premature ageing and wrinkles.

NO SCRUB(S)
Although it's important to cleanse the skin during the summer months it's not advisable to scrub it, especially after long-term sun exposure. Scraping off the dead layer of skin may leave you with a brighter complexion but it can also make your skin more sensitive to the sun. If you still want to exfoliate, try limiting it to two times a week and make sure you moisturise after. Because of extra sweat-clogged pores can end up in pimples so keep up with your exfoliating and splash your face with water 3-4 times per day.

DAY CREAM with SPF
An oil-free and fragrance-free cream day cream with SPF 30 would be ideal for summer. Thick creams are only good for dry areas of the body like the feet, knees and elbows. For summer you need a lighter lotion and serum. You should apply a minimum SPF of 30 at least 20-30 minutes before sun exposure. If you have oily prone skin (you still have to wear an SPF!) try a gel-based sunscreen. If you have a mixed or dry skin try a sunscreen with a matte finish.

CC CREAM
If you want just a bit of coverage you can sport a CC Cream in addition to your SPF. Most of the CC's include a SPF and are also colour-correcting, act as a lightweight makeup, and hydrate the skin. But their SPF is sometimes as little as 15 so ALWAYS wear it on top of your normal face sunscreen.

ULTRA HYDRATING MASK
Chlorine from the swimming pool and sea water in combination with sun exposure can severely dehydrate and damage the skin. This season think about investing in a hydrating mask and we swear it will feel just like splashing your face into the water after taking that first summer dip.

LIGHTWEIGHT NIGHT CREAM
Night cream is a tad excessive during the summer months, just like that sweater you packed and never worn on your holidays- you just don't need it. You don't necessarily need it in humid conditions. But due to sun exposure and dry environments (especially with air-conditioning) you should aim for a lightweight night cream or serum depending on your skin type.

EYES & LIPS
The sun rays are most harmful between 12 and 4 pm. It's important to wear a pair of UV-protected sunnies and an eye cream for extra sun protection. Chapped lips are common during the summer months as well so make sure you carry an extra lip balm with sun protection and coconut oil for extra moisturising in your bag. If the sun really hurts your eyes sit down in the shade and apply potato juice or peeled potatoes underneath your eyes for a super soothing effect.

Easter just ended and most of us have had just a little too much chocolate these past few days… So, if you feel like the excess is starting to make your skin break out, we have the substances you should look for in products for a full skin detox!

The first obvious ingredients that you should look for in beauty products are antioxidants which play a huge role in detoxing.

Then, if you’re looking for thick make we recommend charcoal, which works by drawing out all the dirt out of the pores. Soft clay also works in the same way with the added benefit of containing moisturising botanical oils which hydrate the skin.

Finally, algae based products are great at protecting the skin by stimulating blood flow, and also contain many very healthy and detoxifying minerals!

Acne can really be a put off, not just for other people but for yourself too. But when it start erupting on your back. Not only is bacne (back acne!) prone skin terribly difficult to care for, but also really tricky as using just any product can trigger more breakouts. If you're constantly worried about your bacne and don't quite know how to tackle it, following are some tips from us to you.

Cleanse Gently
Deeply cleansing oily skin sounds like a great strategy but harsh cleansers can strip skin of it's protective barrier, leaving it vulnerable to more bacteria. Try using a balancing body wash to tackle your bacne-prone skin but not too much as to make it very dry and itchy. Then you can use a cleansing gel to soothe the inflamed skin.

Skip exfoliation
Scrubbing seems like the perfect way to cleanse and purify, but for most bacne prone skin, anything more than as teensy bit of scrub is way too much. Use hands to massage skin gently and avoid abrasive ingredients. Pat skin dry afterwards with a soft cloth.

Choose skincare products wisely
When your skin is acting up, reaching for any skin-care product you can is a bad, bad idea!. Consider switching to mineral-based powders and moisturising creams which are gentle on your skin. Buy creams that won't clog pores. Trust us, you don't want that!

Avoid dairy products
Many skin experts have found a connection between dairy products and acne and have agreed that the components of milk related to testosterone hormones may stimulate oil glands, creating a breeding ground for bacne. We're not saying cut off from these, but definitely reduce your intake of dairy for better results.

Still suffering from a winter hair slump that you just can't seem to get out of? Check out our tips below for 5 ways to beat dry hair!

1) Just as washing your face with very hot water can damage your skin, washing your hair with the hot tap only on a regular basis can cause breakage and weaken hair roots! Use cool water to give your hair shine, clean your scalp and improve its circulation.

2) This tip may seem obvious but MOISTURISE! Balmain Hair's moisturising shampoo and conditioner duo guarantees hydration for your hair every step of the washing process and beyond.

3) Make time for hair masks. With products such as Balmain Hair's paraben free repair and revitalising masks, it's never been easier to attain soft nourished hair!

4) Use a leave-in conditioner. Not only will doing so smooth your hair cuticles but one such as Balmain Hair's offers UV protection to see you through summer.

5) Use argan oil products to repair dry damaged tresses such as Balmain Hair's Silk Spray and Argan Moisturising Elixer which also leave hair sleek and shiny!

No matter what profession you’re in, it’s a known fact that purses are women’s best friend. Small or big, there are always a few essentials that you just can’t and shouldn’t do without. Wondering what those are? Read on:

Wallets
Obvious, right? Yes. But what kind of wallets is the question! If you’re a hoarder of cards – credit, debit, discount cards or even business cards, you should consider keeping a long wallet with many card slots. If you are a cash person and don’t like chunky things, then stick to men’s wallet that allow you to store cash and only the necessary business cards.

Hand sanitiser
Why? You touch a million things every day from your shoes, car handles, money (yes!) to shaking people’s hands. It’s only wise to always be prepared and carry a sanitiser which can help protect you from germs.

Face wash and moisturizing cream
Rain or shine, long working hours or short ones, the weather in Mumbai can sometimes leave your skin dry and itchy. In times like these, you need all you need is a soothing fase wash, some water and a cooling moisturising crease depending on your skin type to complete the cleansing process.

Compact powder
Sometimes you need this more for the mirror than the powder itself! But imagine having to go to a dinner after work and your face looks tired? That’s when you’d need to touch up your long done makeup and put on some fresh lipstick (which is completely optional BTW!!) If you agree with us and know these things are important as well, find a few essentials listed below that you can shop for.

This beauty trend first arrived a few months back from South Korea, and since then big brands have caught on. But what exactly is a cushion compact? The best way to describe it is thinking of it as a BB cream in compact form, the sponge that comes with it soaks up the formula for easy application.

These Cushion compacts usually have beauty skincare benefits, like anti-ageing serums, SPF or moisturiser, meaning it has all the benefits of a BB cream but with an easier application and fuller coverage. The cushion itself allows you to get a more natural coverage that you can build up, something that using a brush or your fingers often can't achieve.

It is the perfect product for someone wanting more coverage than a BB cream but less than your usual foundation, for blemishes a concealer is still probably needed but it does eliminate some steps in your regime- like moisturising before you apply.

Short of questing to find the Fountain of Youth there's not much in the way of turning back time for smooth, baby soft skin. Eating clean and sweat sessions are only part of what'll keep us looking like Baba Yaga. However, incorporating the right serum for your primary skin concern into your daily routine can be a total game changer...

Anti-Ageing & Firming: Whether it's a reduction in fine lines, plumpness, firmer skin or all three you're after, nothing beats a serum packing potent hydrating and botanical properties. Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate is an intensive 99% natural remedy while Nuxe Nuxuriance addresses skin weakened by hormonal fluctuations.

Oily & Acne Prone Skin: Those plagued with oily and acne prone skin with large pores will be tired of reading about not stripping the face if its natural oils. There is the constant fear of not wanting to agitate the skin further so when choosing a serum, pick one that's nourishing as well as antibacterial. If your skin is also extremely reactive, La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+ is also paraben free and non-comedogenic.

Dry & Sensitive Skin: Suffer from hyper sensitive skin that's dry to the point of crusty or flaky? Opt for French pharmaceutical brand Bioderma's Hydrabio Serum Moisturising Concentrate to stimulate the skin's natural water channels and give an instant hydration effect. Additionally, Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum is known for its deep hydration properties thanks to its thermal water composition.

Redness & Dark Circles: Overpower your face's ability to reveal what you've been up to the night/s before - whether its partying or pigging out - and choose Darphin Dark Circles Relief and De-Puffing eye serum and/or Stila One Step Correct!
