Fall is here, which means shorter days and colder weather but could it also be changing our moods? We've all heard of Seasonal Affective Disorder, and people throw it around casually, but it would help if we actually knew the scientific truth behind it and other old wives tales regarding the weather. For example, does the moon really change women's menstrual cycles?

A lack of sunlight

A lack of sunlight can make you sad, the mood disorder SAD usually affects people from October until April. Which is literally half the year, fab. The lack of sunlight means you produce more melatonin, which makes you feel sleepy, this sleepiness causes your serotonin levels to dip- basically making you sad. All sounding pretty gloomy rn, but there are steps you can take to combat SAD! Buying a UV light therapy box, or setting your lights to a timer so they come on before you wake up (mimicking sunrise).

Rainy days

Rainy days make you eat more according to Judith Wurtman the co-author of The Serotonin Power Diet. Carbs give you an instant serotonin peak, but this spike doesn't last- they advise reaching for starchy vegetables not the family size chocolate bar. But, let's be honest, now it's scientifically justified, we're gunna use rainy days as an excuse to eat...

A full moon

Nah, you're not going to turn into a werewolf. But is the moon related to our menstrual cycles? Well, apparently not, according to a 2013 study no correlation between the menstrual cycle and moon phases occurred. However, a 1990 study did find that a bright light at night can help regulate periods, so maybe before electricity the moon's phases did have an impact. Anyway, f*ck that, we're going to continue to blame the moon for our mood swings, what does science know...

Sunlight

Sunny weather typically makes us happier, as the SAD side effects explained above don't occur. Studies have found that when the sun in shining people are more helpful and more romantic, however there are negatives. Sunny days make you spend more because we feel positive, and then consequently go a little spending mad.

The famous Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has been around since the 90s, and continues to be hugely popular today, and with good reason!

It's captivating to watch some of the best supermodels in show biz, luxurious lingerie, with all the interesting colours, lights, and music that accompany the show.

Ahead of the 2016 edition, here is a guide to all you need to know about this year's show!

The Fantasy Bra
The Fantasy Bra is the crown jewel of the VS show every year, and the model who gets chosen to wear it knows that it is a huge honour! This year, the Bra is worth $3 million, took around 700 hours to make, and is made up of nearly 9000 precious gemstones. Crazy, isn't it? This year, the lucky model who has been chosen to wear the Fantasy Bra is Jasmine Tookes, who became an official Angel in 2015.

Bella Hadid joins the show
It is no secret that Bella Hadid is one of the hottest names on the supermodel circuit right now. Plus, since her sister Gigi Hadid and close friend Kendall Jenner already made their VS debuts in 2015, it was only a matter of time before Bella got recruited too! We even came across an adorable video of Bella auditioning for the part, and nervously expressing that she thinks she did well and hoping she gets selected.

What's new this year?
Besides Bella, another new addition to the VS show is supermodel Irina Shayk. This is also the first year that the show will happen in Paris.

When does it happen?
The show will take place on 5th December 2016!

10.30 am: We start our day in a strip club - Soho's "Sunset Strip" on Dean Steet - to catch Dilara Findikoglu's SS17 presentation, discovering it's never too early to descend a narrow metal staircase lit by neon lights. Models don the Turkish designer's new collection and pose up a storm between two stripper poles on a candle adorned stage. We're plopped down in cinema-like seating before the stage, taking in a visual feast consisting of smudged lipstick, fishnet tights, corsetry, puffed sleeve metallic tops, and thigh high PVC boots.

11.00 am: Shopcade's Salome is viewing the Paula Knorr presentation at the ICA. The exhibit, All of Me, is immersive and guests mill about a screen showing interviews from Knorr's time studying at the RCA. The collection itself features flared silk trousers, skintight long-sleeve tops, and plenty of illustrated prints.

11.30 am: Editorial maven Chloe Law heads over to the Topshop Showspace at Old Spitalfields Market for Faustine Steinmetz's "Blue Denim." The collection is the result of an exploration and experimentation of denim in which Steinmetz revisits once garish finishings such as crystal embellishment, over washing, and logo monograms.

12.30 pm: Our French content team and I are seated at Freemasons' Hall for the SABINNA runway show. This is the first LFW show we've been to this season without a full house (the third and fourth rows remain relatively empty) and I think how disappointing it is that the collection, probably one of the most translatable we've seen so far, doesn't receive the welcome it deserves from press and buyers.

1.00 pm: Chloe arrives at the Markus Lupfer SS17 presentation and wanders amidst a garden themed maze throughout which models toting the new collection are scattered. Eschewing the signature Markus Lupfer lip print - save for the monochrome tote as part of its goodie bag! - in favour of flowers and fruit, the collection boasts hand-drawn artistry, beaded embroidery, dark denim, and plenty of stripes.

1.30 pm: We enter the On|Off LFW venue's alternate entrance at Phonica Records on Poland Street for Milo Maria and Asli Polat. Milo Maria's static presentation takes us on a space odyssey with looks featuring loose tailoring with an athleisure twist. Asli Polat is down the hall and is also a static presentation in which models flaunting the new collection stand before a silver wall hanging. The collection itself could be easily worn straight from the rails and feature all the usual spring/summer crowd pleasers; an off-the-shoulder peasant top, floral dresses, satin finish pastel blouses etc.

3.00 pm: Ianthe Rose takes over our Instagram and Snapchat to capture the goings on of the Ashley Isham show backstage before the collection's debut. Models are still in hair and make-up by the time we're backstage at Freemasons' Hall. A small Chihuahua is resting on the lap of one of the model's mums (we later see the well behaved dog starring in the catwalk show). Male models are stripping left, right, and centre as they get oiled up for looks in which a shirt is not required and as we leave the room, rails with the clothing for the show are being wheeled out into the hallway where a stylist shouts desperately for the "pool party boys" to come forward pronto.

The collection itself is comprehensive indeed and with the show set to a soundtrack of '70s disco hits - think Earth Wind & Fire's September and Boogie Wonderland, Donna Summer's I Feel Love etc. - the crowd excitedly snaps each and every look as it comes down the runway. The new season signature Ashley Isham floral print is set on a yellow backdrop which graces looks for both men and women. There's swimwear, casual wear, occasion wear, and even a bridal dress which emits gasps from the bloggers, celebutantes, press, buyers, and photograpers.

Post-show, our social media editor Sahar is approached by the designer himself who asks what her favourite part of the show is. In her excitement, she panics and responds "the music." #awkward

4.30 pm: Chloe and I head back to On|Off to meet Judy Wu at her SS17 presentation while Salome and Sirina take in Han Wen at Freemasons' Hall. Her collection, Curve, boasts a crisp, clean palette of perforated skirts and dresses with a structural emphasis on, you've guessed it, curves. Standout materials from the collection are sheer organza, neoprene, and twill jersey.

At Freemason's Hall, our summer intern Sirina grabs a backstage interview with Han Wen, the SS17 Merit Award winner. (Watch this space!)

5.00 pm: Ianthe continues with the Shopcade Snapchat takeover at palmer//harding over at Mary Ward House. The collection's neutral colour scheme and exploration of modern day power dressing is an immediate win for the CSM design duo Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding.

6.00 pm: Back at Freemason's Hall for our last shows of the day, Salome and France Editor Charlotte Bailly take in Portuguese designer Morecco's Turkish inspired SS17 collection.

AW marks a shift in interiors, the once vibrant, sheer and minimal pieces become less prominent, in favour of home decor that induces feelings of comfort and warmth. Reds, sheepskin, festive scents and glowing lights all help create an atmosphere we crave in autumn and winter- homeliness!

When the weather gets colder all we want to do is stay indoors and wrap ourselves in cosy fabrics, can't you just see it now- lying on a sheepskin rug, in front of a fire with a hot chocolate. See, AW isn't all bad!
