If you haven't been living under a rock recently you must have caught this trend of the ten step Korean skin care routine. We know that ten steps seem like a lot of work, but it's total exaggeration we hear! You don't have to barge in this ten step commitment straight away. Keep the basics and opt for a 5 step regimen to start with. If you want to follow this routine to a T and acquire the enviable skin of a Korean princess here are the ten steps you need to follow:

Step 1: Oil Cleanser

Apply this to dry skin in order to remove makeup and any other oil-based product remainders. You might need proper make up remover for heavy makeup though.

Step 2: Foam Cleanser

As you might have guessed an oil-cleanser is not enough. You need a foam water-based cleanser in order to remove impurities. Make sure you cleanse it twice for a squeaky clean skin surface.

Step 3: Exfoliator

Exfoliation is a vital part of the process as it thoroughly cleans clogged pores that you wouldn't be able to reach differently. It's also a great way to get rid of dead skin. This step is not recommended for daily use, especially if you have sensitive skin. But if you a have a tougher complexion you can try exfoliating up to 3 times per week.

Step 4: Toner

After you have cleansed and scrubbed the skin thoroughly it will be cleaner but quite fragile and in desperate need of ample hydration. The best way to prepare the skin before applying any sort of hydrating cream is to apply a toner so that it'll absorb it better.

Step 5: Essence

The essence is truly what the Korean skin care is all about. It's the element of the routine that really differentiates it from any other skin care routine. The inherently Korean essence is basically very similar to a serum, booster of ampoules but it contains a greater percentage of water and as such it looks and feels a lot like a toner.

Step 6: Serums & Boosters

These oil-based treatments are not necessary if you deal with brown spots or pigmentation often. If you have normal or dry skin you can try these methods for a bonus layer of hydration. Believe us, your skin will thank you for it!

Step 7: Sheet Mask

The great thing about masks is that there is no 'one mask fits all'. You can try a hydrating mask if you have dry skin or a Vitamin C packed one to brighten it. You don't need to do this step every night. It's actually more beneficial for you if you only do it twice a week.

Step 8: Eye Cream

Again with eye cream, you can target the areas that are most important to you. You could focus on fine lines or dark circles.

Step 9: Face Cream

This is one of the vital parts of the routine even if you leave out a couple of other steps. Skin hydration is the key to soft, younger looking skin at all times. Try to wear a lighter day cream and a full nourishing night cream.

Step10: SPF

The most important step of the Korean regimen is the SPF. You must have heard of women swearing by their SPF since the slightest exposure to sunlight can speed up the ageing process of the skin. SPF needs to be applied daily even if you don't live in a city that is necessarily sunny.

There you have it! The Complete Guide to Korean Morning Routine. Need help with picking the right products? Have a look below at our top picks for every single step and say hello to brighter younger-looking skin!

The London Marathon took place last Sunday and there’s something about it that makes us feel inspired… Could this be the moment we finally take up running?

Whether it’s because your friend who was always last in gym class managed to finish the race, or because your cousin raised over a thousand pounds or even because you heard about the 23 year-old club runner who finished first of all British runners and automatically qualified for the 2017 World Championships, there’s probably a part of you that wishes you had done it as well.

Of course, we don’t expect you to sign up for a marathon immediately, but here are a few tips on how to take up running:

Start with walking. This is mostly to avoid any injuries if your body isn’t used to running. If you start doing too much too soon, chances are you’ll get shin splints or knee injuries and then you’ll have to take a break from running which would kind of defeat the purpose, wouldn’t it? Experts usually recommend starting with a fixed ratio, like running 2min for every 5min walked, so find the one for you and stick to it.

Listen to your body. When you take up running, you should definitely feel some muscle pain, because your body isn’t used to it. But it’s important that you don’t ignore more severe pains and adjust your running accordingly.

Stay hydrated. It might be a good idea to bring a water bottle the first few times you go out on a run because it’s very important to stay hydrated.

Eat more. Your body is going to work harder than usual so you should make sure you increase your food intake. Eat carbohydrates to give your body more energy, and get some protein to help your body recover after the effort.

Get appropriate running gear. Not only will having a nice outfit motivate you to get out there, you will also run better if you have the right clothes. Some accessories are also worth investing in like a running watch if you’re not running outdoors so you can keep track of your pace and the distance you’ve run.

Make a good playlist. There is nothing more motivating than a good song, and with the right playlist you will probably end up surprising yourself.

Find the right route. Unless you’re running on a treadmill, a great part of running is that you can explore the outdoors. Try finding a park nearby so you don’t have to constantly wait at crossings or bump into people, and try switching up your routes to keep it interesting! Now all you need to do is start…

The majority of us mere mortals can't compare our faces to the poreless picture perfect models in magazines or even social media - not without the right Instagram filter anyway. To keep your skin in tip top condition, look like you've just had a spa day with our tips on how to fake a facial...

- Cleanse, tone and moisturise on a daily basis but avoid using industrial strength scrubs too often. Limit use of potentially harsh, drying scrubs to just once or twice a week to avoid leaving the home red faced (literally). Elemis' Skin Buff and Green People's Age Defy Soft Buff Skin Exfoliator clears away pack rejuvenating properties without stripping the skin's natural oils.

- Flush out gunk from your pores every once and awhile by steaming your face with a bowl of warm water or create a homemade mask using ingredients such as banana, honey, avocado or even aloe vera and leave on for 15 minutes. If you're short on time, resort to our edit below to search for the perfect mask for your skin type!

- Moisturise! After treating your skin to a home facial, give your face the hydration it needs via a spritz of Clinique's Moisture Surge Spray, patting on Caudalie Divine Oil or Decleor Hydra Floral Multi-Protection Rich Cream.

You may have these in your bag as we speak, but are you sure you know exactly why you need a serum for your skin? The benefits of a serum are seldom clear and because this is top priority among us women, we have chalked up a few benefits of the product and why you need to choose which serum to buy wisely.

Serums Vs. Face Creams

While other face creams contain only about 10 per cent of active ingredients, a face serum is known to provide you with a full 70 per cent! Not only do these serums help with hydration of skin but also increase nourishment, brighten the skin, help prevent acne and strengthen skin cells. Trust us, it’s never to late to start using a skin serum!

Anti-aging!

Because this super potent product can help fight long-term damage to the skin, you will be left with a healthier and firmer skin if used on daily basis. However, do remember more is not always better! Face serums work as best an anti-aging formula and sooner you start using them, the better.

Choose your serum well

Choosing a serum can be tricky and you’d be required to fully understand your skin type before buying one. Look for ingredients such as vitamin C, retinol, zinc and salicylic acid for an acne prone skin. To cure dryness, a serum with vitamin E, niacinamide, glycolic acid or hyaluronic acid can do the trick.

Other essentials antioxidants and ingredients such as green tea extracts, resveratrol and ferulic acid help increase effectiveness of sunscreens by day and promote cellular repair by night.

Once you start using serums, we know for sure they’d become your best friend in no time. So why not stop talking already and start buying the right kind for you from down below?

Short of questing to find the Fountain of Youth there's not much in the way of turning back time for smooth, baby soft skin. Eating clean and sweat sessions are only part of what'll keep us looking like Baba Yaga. However, incorporating the right serum for your primary skin concern into your daily routine can be a total game changer...

Anti-Ageing & Firming: Whether it's a reduction in fine lines, plumpness, firmer skin or all three you're after, nothing beats a serum packing potent hydrating and botanical properties. Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate is an intensive 99% natural remedy while Nuxe Nuxuriance addresses skin weakened by hormonal fluctuations.

Oily & Acne Prone Skin: Those plagued with oily and acne prone skin with large pores will be tired of reading about not stripping the face if its natural oils. There is the constant fear of not wanting to agitate the skin further so when choosing a serum, pick one that's nourishing as well as antibacterial. If your skin is also extremely reactive, La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+ is also paraben free and non-comedogenic.

Dry & Sensitive Skin: Suffer from hyper sensitive skin that's dry to the point of crusty or flaky? Opt for French pharmaceutical brand Bioderma's Hydrabio Serum Moisturising Concentrate to stimulate the skin's natural water channels and give an instant hydration effect. Additionally, Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum is known for its deep hydration properties thanks to its thermal water composition.

Redness & Dark Circles: Overpower your face's ability to reveal what you've been up to the night/s before - whether its partying or pigging out - and choose Darphin Dark Circles Relief and De-Puffing eye serum and/or Stila One Step Correct!
