The ‘80s are back. Or perhaps they never went away, given the strong trend for brightly-coloured, thigh-skimming swimwear and oversized sunnies we’ve seen just about everywhere this summer.

The runway has been awash with styles inspired by the ‘80s aesthetic too with the likes of Fendi, MSGM and Versace all paying homage to the decade’s design sense.

If you fancy trying the trend for yourself, we have a few pointers for you to avoid looking like you’ve rocked up in fancy dress.

Think bright tones but pair them with tailoring. Take the edge off those sleek silhouettes with chunky sneakers or a pop of statement print.

A healthy dose of sporty styling goes a long way so don’t be afraid to opt for neon accents and go-faster stripes, bomber jackets and sports-luxe separates.

Lastly, botanical prints put a twist on the classic Hawaiian shirt – just be sure to mix and match yours with neutrals or simple stripes to avoid overkill.

Korean products have been dominating the beauty scene in the UK in recent years but for all the winning formulas and anti-ageing serums on the market, what you really need to know is how and when to use these products. Enter our ten-step guide to nailing your own K-beauty routine…

1. Start with an oil-based cleanser. This is your heavy-duty starting point – oil helps to penetrate dirt and make up on the surface of your skin and give you a fresh base.

2. Next opt for a foam-based cleanser. This second cleanse will ensure that your face is really clean so you can get to work on the next steps.

3. Using an exfoliator more than two or three times per week can be a little intense for your skin so be sure to give your skin a break from this step every other day or so.

4. Next realign your skin’s pH balance and calm any inflammation with a gentle toner.

5. Then apply essence – a K-beauty essential. Essence is a concentrated formula that promotes cell regeneration helping to prevent the signs of ageing.

6. For your next step you’ll want to apply your serum. Gently pat over your face.

7. Follow with a collagen-boosting sheet mask for 20 to 30 minutes.

8. Next apply a light eye cream to combat those lines and dark circles.

9. Your penultimate step is a healthy slick of hydrating Korean moisturiser.

10. And finally, who could forget sunscreen? Apply your SPF and you’re good to go.

A vacation means no worries, zero commitments and a break from the daily grind. However, there are some things you probably shouldn’t let slide while you’re away from home, skincare and haircare being two of them.

Excessive exposure to UV rays can really dry and damage hair so if you’re enjoying a week of relaxation in the sun, you’ll want to at least make a low-key effort to protect your hair. We’ve compiled a few ways to help keep your locks healthy all summer long...

Quick spritz

Just like your skin, when hair is exposed to the sun it becomes dry and damaged. The best way to protect it is by applying a UV protectant spray before you leave the house. Spritz through damp hair before you air or blow dry or apply liberally to dry hair – especially around your part and hairline.

Bandana babe

Keep your head, hair and skin protected from the sun with on-trend headgear. Simply wrap a cool bandana or silk scarf around your tresses, secure your ponytail with printed fabrics or go for a full head wrap in a knotted or turban style.

Serum smooth

Your after-sun routine should feature a moisturizing serum that you can apply from the roots to the end of the hair. Keep it in your hair for at least ten minutes and rinse thoroughly. Consider switching between a serum and a hair mask for damaged hair every four days.

Braid it

Another easy hack to keep your hair safe from the sun’s rays is braiding it when wet. Braids lock in moisture and are great for keeping your hair in place and ensuring you stay cool in the heat. Plus, you can channel those mermaid vibes when you take the braids out later.

Feeling tired, sluggish and not particularly summer ready? It could be your diet. We looked to our panel of health and beauty experts for a few simple hacks to help you feel healthier, happier and ready to get your glow on this summer…

Hydrate daily

Staying hydrated during the warmer months is so essential but often, we forget that we should be drinking a little more. To make sure you’re getting your daily H2O, invest in a cool bottle or fill a jug with water and keep it on your desk.

TIP: Add lemon slices for a refreshing alkaline, electrolyte boost and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper for better digestion and to stem your cravings for sugar.

Boost yourself

Drink green tea to refresh your body – matcha is great but if that’s a little intense, try a caffeine-free detox tea to reset your body and help flush out nasties.

Watch your portion sizes

Use small bowls and measure out your snacks too. Weighing bits and pieces out into little containers to eat on the go always makes life easier too, especially if you find yourself feeling hangry in the afternoons.

Cook with recipes

Follow health-giving recipes exactly, don’t add more or less of anything and invest in a few cookbooks with easy, filling and nourishing recipes you can come back to time and time again.

Keep a journal

This isn’t an excuse to obsess over food so don’t be hard on yourself, just try being mindful and record what you’re eating, how you’re feeling and whether you’ve had much sleep, exercised that day and so on. This will help you to find a balance and set realistic goals for yourself.

Use coconut oil

Not only great for your skin, this is a healthy fat that’s great for cooking with. Swap your vegetable oil for a dollop of coconut when you cook.

Get your greens

If this is a challenge for you try adding a sprinkle of spirulina to your foods, make green smoothies and juices to enjoy in the mornings or at lunchtime. You can also take supplements to keep your body balanced and stave off cravings.

The World Cup has officially begun and we’re already speculating over which teams are likely to make it through the first few rounds. Come on, who doesn’t love cheering their team on?

Though we enjoy a little healthy competition, we must admit, a football shirt and jeans isn’t exactly our go-to look. As for face-paint and themed accessories, forget it. Sure, we’ll be rooting for our home team but we’d rather show our support without making any sartorial compromises.

To ensure we’re looking on-point for every match, we’ve given the term ‘sports luxe’ a whole new meaning and put together an edit of our favourite pieces from the coolest high-end retailers to match our beloved teams’ football strips.

From luxe leather jackets to statement dresses and day-to-night boots, whether you’re cheering for England, France, Serbia or Brazil, you’ll be nailing your outfit game and certainly won’t look out of place in the stands.

Bleach blonde hair looks amazing but it's also a lot of hard work. Unless you want your ends to split, your lengths to be frizzy and dry or your color turning yellow, you need to follow a few rules for healthy-looking hair.  We looked to our panel of beauty experts to find out the best ways to look after blonde hair and how to repair it too.

Here's how to care for your bleach blonde hair...

No rush

You can't rush the process of going bottle blonde. If you have dark hair especially previously dyed hair you’ll need to take your time and gradually work towards a lighter shade. At least three to four appointments are needed to reach your blonde hair goals. Don’t go all in or you’ll end up damaging your hair and definitely won’t achieve your desired shade.

Perfect salon

Do your research, consult Instagram, ask friends and be sure of the best way to fulfil your blonde ambition. Take a thorough look at the previous work of stylists and salons you like. Then  be prepared to drop some serious cash to know you’re getting the best for your hair.

No DIY

At least not the first time. Home bleaching can be extremely damaging to the hair if overused or if you've never done it before. At least speak to a colorist for a consultation before attempting it.

Proper haircare products

There's no easy way to lighten your hair because bleaching damages the hair, plain and simple. But you can lessen the damage by ensuring you're using the right products. Use a selection of moisturizing products to strengthen the bonds within the hair and prevent breakage or damage.

Now that summer’s here, it’s time to give your warm-weather wardrobe an overhaul. There are a few rules stylish men swear by when it comes to building a half-decent summer capsule and they are as follows…

Go tonal

Shades of blue will always complement one another and the same goes for bright summer tones like red, pink and yellow too. With a few options at your disposal, there’ll always be an opportunity to switch up your look with minimal fuss.

Statement piece

Every summer line-up should boast a healthy dose of print. Opt for cool patterned shorts and a few printed shirts and pair both with pared-down pieces in complementary tones.

Double up

A classic white tee or light shirt is the foundation of a holiday wardrobe, and they come in pretty handy when the sun decides to shine at home too. Invest in a few identical styles to mix and match with your tonal and statement pieces and you’ll always be prepared for a sunny day.

Cool off

Swap your leather shoes for a pair of breezy canvas trainers – ideal for kicking it on a city break, roaming the wilderness or just straight chilling. Our go-to is Superga, who offer up a ton of cotton canvas styles that were basically invented for summer.

Elevate it

Lend your look a little polish with a tan leather belt, low-key sunnies and a statement watch – just make sure it’s waterproof before you hit the pool.

Now that summer’s here, we’re investing in breezy warm-weather ensembles to see in the new season in style. Vacay-ready dresses and denim shorts in summer hues call for bronzed limbs but we’re not about to risk sun damage by hitting the poolside sans SPF. Instead, we’ll be opting for a quality self tan to achieve that healthy summer glow without exposing skin to harmful UV rays.

Want to get the glow? Just follow our simple tips for achieving the perfect summer tan without compromising on your skin’s health…

Choose wisely

Opting for a dark self tan might seem like a quick fix, but your glow is far more likely to look natural if you invest in a subtler shade. Make sure your skin tone matches whatever you pick and opt for something similar to a product you already enjoy using

For example, if lotion is your jam then a tanning cream could be for you. If you prefer something more lightweight on your skin, go for a spray or mousse. Work with whatever feels comfortable for you.

Exfoliate

Be sure to prep your skin before applying your self tan. Use a quality exfoliating scrub in the shower to brush away dry skin and get your skin feeling clean, fresh and ready for application. Using bronzing products after exfoliating means your glow will last much longer.

Layer it

Avoid the temptation to pile on the product and instead, apply a light layer a day at a time to build up a natural-looking colour. This way, you can exfoliate any dry patches and moisturise in between applications to keep your skin soft, supple and happy.

Glow up

Finish off your tanning routine with a shimmering bronzer – we love a gold-toned powder or simple contouring kit to highlight that golden glow. Add a little definition to your cheekbones and décolletage and you’ll be ready to rock that summer dress in no time.

Ever wonder what is it that people with healthy hair do to get their tresses so on point? Sometimes it's about more than just using the right shampoo. We looked to a few haircare experts to find out what to do to achieve that natural bounce, strength and shine...

Get haircuts on the regular

If your ends are splitting, be sure to book in for regular trims curb that breakage. Make your hair appointments every 6-8 weeks.

Go au naturel

Everyone needs a rest from time to time and the same goes for your hair. Let your hair dry without heated styling products if you can and take a rest from too much product. Let it all hang loose and avoid scrunching it up too.

Hair care also means scalp care

If you're itchy and constantly scratching your head that might be a sign. Dry hair, too much product and regular pulling or scratching can  traumatize your scalp. Try products that will enhance the health of the scalp and be kind to your hair.

Add protein to your diet

Hair is keratinized protein so adding it to your everyday meals will practically mean building more hair. Add some iron while you're at it, as iron deficiency has been linked to female hair loss. And for vegans there are a lot of yummy ways to add it too.

Condition your hair

You should incorporate a deep conditioner into your weekly hair care routine for extra hydration. There are many deep-conditioning hair masks that you can apply once a week for extra shine and healthy locks. We’ve listed a few we love below.

With summer vacations approaching we’re hitting the gym more often than usual. If that's the case for you too, you're also probably suffering from some post-workout aches. No pain, no gain, right? Wrong what you do after a workout can be just as important as what you do during so we’ve rounded up our favourite relaxing rituals to  help restore your muscles after exercise...

Eat a tasty protein treat

After a workout replenish your energy with a protein bar or a smoothie with some added protein powder. Add a handful of your favorite fruits like blueberries and bananas to make it more appetizing, an avocado for healthy fat and some granola or oats for fiber. Nuts and seeds are also great for protein and if you’re craving something bigger, go for poached eggs, grilled chicken or sushi.

Soak it off

When you hit the showers or run a bath, opt for an invigorating shower gel or cream made with ginger, lemon or grapefruit. Try essential oils like lavender that will relieve aching muscles and if you're not in a hurry, treat yourself to a long relaxing bath with magnesium salts at home. Throw on a face mask or hair treatment for the full pampering experience and detox your post-gym skin.

Sauna and jacuzzi time

If you're a member of a gym, you'll most likely have access to a sauna or jacuzzi. The warm temperature will increase pulse rate and circulation without straining your muscles and will help with relaxation. Take a cold shower after your session using a revitalizing shower gel to tighten pores, refresh skin and leave you feeling ready to take on the world.

Harsh weather, fumes and the stress of city life can weaken our defences and dry up the skin so protecting it is key. Luckily, anti-pollution beauty has arrived. So, for all you city dwellers, we've prepared a list of hacks and products to save your complexion, fight free radicals and get that much-desired glow. Anti-pollution beauty consists of purifying the skin and then  reviving it with great skincare and nutrition...

Begin your routine with a great cleanser. Wash your face and then exfoliate to slough away dry, dead skin; you can use an AHA for this or a gentle scrub two or three times a week.

Follow this with a charcoal mask charcoal is great at purifying the skin and ridding your face of city grime and dirt. Next, apply defence-boosting oils and glow-activating serums for that extra luminous effect.

Finally, make sure you invest in a quality SPF and a daily moisturiser that will protect your skin against damaging UVA and UVB rays. Make-up containing an SPF is great for an extra barrier against sun damage too.

Boost your inner beauty by indulging in a diet full of antioxidants like citrus fruit and berries, nuts and delicious avocados for Vitamin E. Vitamin E is great for fighting free radicals and promoting healthy cell reproduction.

Be sure to incorporate lots of Omega 3 and fatty acids into your diet to help with this too. These are typically found in salmon, tuna and other oily fish. These vitamins and minerals are great for boosting your collagen production, giving you that healthy glow.
