Double winner Dua Lipa, Jorja Smith, Maya Jama and Kylie all looked amazing at last night's Brit Awards. But we're now totally on board with the feather trim trend after loving the white feather details of Holly Willoughby,  Rita Ora and Adwoa Aboah’s red carpet looks. Miles away from the feather boas you may have worn to your last 1920s fancy dress party; they function as a whimsical, decadent addition to any style you can think of, fluttering gorgeously with movement. Dress trims, on coat cuffs, flourishing on shoes and bags, even basic tank tops as Miuccia Prada has chicly proved with paintbox bright plumes. Consider them a welcome respite from faux fur as well, more unusual and way less likely to make you the target of a PETA protest (there isn’t the same furore over ostrich feathers).

Obviously Willoughby, Ora and Aboah showcased how to dress these feather trims up, alongside white rose tributes that picked up where The Grammys left off. Add minimal or understated accessories and go is the key styling tip to note, to allow the feathers to be the focal point. The same thing works for during the day as these fancy details will instantly elevate an otherwise ordinary look. We’d also recommend sticking to one plumed piece at a time unless you want to veer into costume territory.

Shop the short sleeved version of Willoughby’s David Koma dress and our edit of buy-now feather pieces below.

SZA makeup on the Grammy´s was so beautiful. I love the lashes with the neutral eyeshadows and the glossy lip. Her makeup artist use a several of glossier products for the look, including the cloud paint in beam to give that gorgeous flush to her cheeks. The shades of the blushes really suit every skin tone. The last look from the Grammys that I think deserves to be shared is Miley Cyrus. We have watched Miley grow up on our screens and in our magazines. Not only that but we've watched her style grow up too. A plethora of hairstyles and a lot of fabulous glitter has brought Miley to where she is today. This look was so simple but so stylish. Miley looks chic in black with a high neckline but fun - the line is chopped in patterns and the nature of the jumpsuit enhances the same feel. This feels like Miley saying she's a little more grown up, sophisticated even, but she's still the same in essence. Image: Vogue

We all love Chrissy Teigen (if you don't, get out). From the time she discovered Channel Four's very British reality TV, namely Naked Attraction and Gogglebox, to her impeccable taste in fashion. Chrissy has, unsurprisingly, smashed it again with the style at this year's Grammys, proving that maternity wear can be glamorous. Chrissy showed off her bump in this insane silver sequinned dress. The waist belt and front slit shouted down the red carpet 'just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you can't dress fabulously.' Image: Elle

When Rihanna stepped on stage at the 60th annual Grammys last Sunday, we gasped as she unveiled her outfit. It was a long vinyl trench coat in deep burgundy, complete with matching gloves and boots; and in true Rihanna fashion, she proved that confidence can be part of your attire. And no wonder: the ‘Wild Thoughts’ songstress’ love of statement coats is well documented and vinyl has been more associated with clothing than records in recent seasons.

The vibrant hue was most surprising as Rihanna put her own spin on the luxe material. Today's coolest trendsetters are adding vinyl pieces to their everyday attire to infuse a much-needed edginess. And as the fetishistic fabric hasn’t completely shaken off its racy connotations, the juxtaposition with other textures and flattering silhouettes is captivating circa 2018. Check out the street style in Paris, London, New York or Milan and you're bound to find plenty of styling tips.

We’d recommend teaming a sleek pair of vinyl trousers with a soft feathered sweater to indulge in the dynamic contrast between the two. Or trying the ever popular long vinyl trench coat over day and night outfits. You could also opt for a black vinyl midi skirt then tone it down by pairing it with a puffer jacket. Finally, go for the ultimate sexy chic combo of the thigh-high vinyl boot.

Awards season is well and truly underway and our eyes are constantly scanning the tabloids, waiting to see who wore what. But it isn't just the celebs' outfits bringing the glam, their make up has been a 'poppin' highlight' of the season too. Lady Gaga looked totally fabulous at the Grammys with a serious smokey eye. Her glittering cat-eye shadow was totally chic and dramatic lashes accentuate this stunning shape even more. As a smokey eye should be Gaga pairs the look with a nude lip. A classic combination that is always an award winner. Image: Elle

The white rose was the number one accessory at the Grammys as seen here with Miley Cyrus, who looked stunning in all black in support of the #TimesUp movement. She wore a Jean Paul Gaultier pantsuit and had her hair styled by stylist Andy Lecompte from The Wall Group. #Grammys #fashionweek #JPGaultier Credit: Instagram

After 15 years on the West coast, the 60th Grammy Awards moved east, in New York City,  at Madison Square Garden on January 28th. Memorable moments from the ceremony include Kesha's #MeToo performance against sexual harassment while Hillary Clinton made a surprise appearance. Bruno Mars was the bigger winner of the night snatching Best Record, Album and Song of the year. Major artists like Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, SZA, Cardi B and Camila Cabello took the Red Carpet and the stage in amazing outfits for music's most mesmerizing night.

Lady Gaga appeared in a long black gown by Armani, sporting also a  huge rock on her finger sparking rumours of an engagement to her beau.

It was a tomato red strapless gown by Vivienne Westwood Couture for former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello. She paired the sleek gown with precious silver jewellery and a tiny diamond-encrusted bag.

SZA showed off her newly toned bod in a naked dress by Atelier Versace and complimented it by adding Chopard jewellery.

A very pregnant Chrissy Teigen showed off her belly proudly in a sparkly silver number and Chopard jewellery paired with strappy heels and a tiny clutch for her bare essentials.

Beyonce looked absolutely flawless at the Grammys. I think the split leg look is stunning and the earrings are absolutely perfect against the all black outfit. Let's also appreciate how suave Jay Z looks! #grammys #blackoutfit #beyonce Credit: Elle UK

Attendees at the Grammys last night took recent red carpet #TimesUp and #Metoo protests to another level by adding a symbolic white rose to their outfits. The move was the brainchild of Meg Harkins, senior vice president of marketing at Roc Nation and Karen Rait, head of rhythm promotions at Interscope/ Geffen/ A&M Records; with the support of other well-known women in the music industry because the flower historically stands for ‘hope, peace, sympathy and resistance.’ It’s worth remembering that the suffragettes adopted the ‘pure’ colour 100 years ago when they fought for and succeeded in winning women the vote.

Whether the white rose was actually carried, pinned/embroidered to a lapel, or even temporarily tattooed onto a décolletage, Lady Gaga, Cardi B et al showed their support and solidarity in bold and brave ways. Many stars wore black on the red carpet anyway, like the Golden Globes dress code, which created a gorgeous monochrome style statement as well. And while Beyonce and others didn’t carry the rose, her daughter Blue Ivy was dressed in head to toe white and performers like Kesha, Cyndi Lauper and Camila Cabello wore the hue on stage.

To stand sartorially with these women and support these important movements, check out how they styled their white roses in their gallery above and then shop our edit of wear-now picks below.
