As temperatures rise and days become longer we crave a little more time outdoors - and that includes our workout routine. Thankfully for our mood and budget most classes from yoga, to Zumba, pilates even martial arts can be taught in an open-air park. 


Working out outdoors has amazing health benefits both physical but also mental that arise from spending time in nature. We are all glued (and most people will admit- addicted) to our phones, whether we like it or not most of use are dependant on our devices. Email, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat or Instragram, we are constantly looking for a sense of gratification on social media. But why not try switching off now and again and trying some new hobbies.#000000"> Switch off and relax. Switching off from social media is a great way to relax stop our brains going into overdrive. Why not try things the old fashioned way and channel our energy into spending quality time with  friends and family, doing activities.


Meditation and relaxation can be a great way to really relax and spend time with your thoughts.Try a new hobby- there are plenty of new ways to enjoy time away from a screen. Madeline Shaw, the health and fitness author switched off from social media after having her first child to spend time with her newborn away from the pressures of posting. She found there were some great benefits and admitted she saved hours of time instead of wasting it searching through other peoples accounts. Pandora Sykes also switched off from the fans post fashion week to enjoy some relaxation after a hectic fashion month and quality time with her husband.#000000"> 

It's a challenge but try it for a day and see if you can resist the temptation- go for some meditation or treat yourself to your favourite activity! Here's what to do instead: Yoga, read a book, try a new sport, do something creative, go to the theatre, host a photo-free dinner party, its time to use our imaginations! Whether its for a day or weeks, go cold turkey and try switching off, its great for some headspace!

So you have just signed up for many workout classes that are located at a convenient distance from your flat or office. Thankfully, workouts have evolved into a fun experience far from the tedious repetition of the coventional gym. From a zumba class, to ballet and barrecore, HIIT training or Hot Yoga, there's definitely a class for you. 


If you're making the effort to join your nearest gym or dance class you may as well look stylish while breaking a sweat. After figuring out your special athletic gear, including your sports bra leggings and trainers it's time for gym bag research. In this case, you will want to invest in a bag that is both chic and practical. Focus on styles with different compartments for shoes, makeup kit, fresh change of clothes and valuables. Multiple straps are also great if you want to carry your bag on your shoulder or by hand. And a little tip before you sign up for every single workout class close to your apartment or office why not prioritise the workouts that actually make you happy and that you're more likely to follow all year long? 

Moving from office to the gym and bag means that you have to do it in style. And though a tiny bag might be appealing (thank you Kendall Jenner!) might not be practical for you. If you have a locker at the gym feel free to sport a fanny pack or tiny bag. It will actually save you the trouble of carrying your bag from the office or at least you can sport it to after gym drinks with ease. On the other hand, you can also go for a more classic choice of an oversized duffle bag where you can store your energy drink, protein bar, towels and a clean set of clothes. There, you're all workout ready!

Providing the right accoutrement for each workout can have a significant impact to our experience from a sartorial and practical perspective. Scroll down below and equip yourself only with the right stuff. 


SOUL CYCLE 

When it comes to a physically demanding class like soul cycle it’s important to opt for breathable separates. For example a quality sports bra paired with matching leggings can relieve some of the burden of excessive sweating. For socks, try sweat absorbing material which will motivate you to finish the class minus any unwelcome distractions. After the workout, wear a hoodie to allow the muscles to cool down gradually. 

MARATHON GIRL 

More than any other athletic leisure activity, running requires some deal of wardrobe preparation. As with any other outdoor workout you need to equip with an all-weather zip up that you can don over your tank top. Try a technical long-sleeve top that can easily be removed during cool down. For leggings, choose a pair with compression past the ankles for a speed run or a longer marathon. 

HOT YOGA 

In a class like hot yoga you know you’re going to sweat a ton so it’s important to wear breathable clothing like soul cycle but also loose enough that will allow you to strengthen, and unwind. Start with a tank and leggings and throw on a loose t-shirt on top that you can take off when it starts to get too hot for comfort. 

DANCE CLASS

Whether it’s Zumba, Barrecore or a fun hip-hop infused class weight-shifting movements that put the core to work demand a particular set of clothing. For example a leotard with built-in support and the sense of freedom to move as you please. For bottoms a pair of leggings, ballerina tights and sweats will do the trick. Remember to dance barefoot, with rubber soled socks or trainers to avoid slippery floors.

Valentine’s day is very much geared towards women don’t you think?
