Maximalism is set to be big this autumn and whether you’re revamping your wardrobe, your accessories line-up or your home, the eclectic trend is here to stay.

Now when it comes to interior design nailing the maximalist trend can be tricky and there are a few rules to follow if you want to get it right. Basically, it all comes down to clashing prints…

Power of three

When you’re clashing prints to create an eclectic, maximalist feel in your space, be sure to pick out no more than three strong prints. Whether you use these sparingly or cover an entire wall, be sure to limit your choice to two or three designs to keep things looking chic and considered rather than messy and out of control.

Colour code

Picking out prints from the same colour family – like neutrals, pinks or monochrome – can really help to bring a space to life and character while still sticking to your chosen theme. Try an autumnal palette for the new season or channel 2018’s punk-inspired vibes with clashing animal prints.

Accent and accessorise

Rather than adorning every surface in your home with print, carefully select smaller statement print pieces to make the most of them. Opting for accent pieces and cool accessories will mean you can not only mix and match but this also gives you the option to tone your maximalist interior up or down depending on your mood.

There are few greater pleasures than entertaining friends and family over a home-cooked meal – or a takeaway, if that’s your jam. The warm fuzzy feeling that comes with hosting the perfect dinner party is a hard one to beat, especially when your décor’s on point…

Creating the ideal ambience for a meal with your favourite people is easy, if you stick to a few simple design rules.

Colour scheme

Pick a fresh colour scheme like green and pink or white and navy and throw in metallic accents for an easy yet luxe look to rival the top tables of Pinterest.

Eclectic vibes

Accessorise the table with colourful napkins, ornaments, place card holders and unique glasses. Mix and match your flatware and invest in cool pieces like cutlery in brassy tones or tinted glasses. Turn your table into the main event and have fun with it.

Add foliage

Fresh flowers, succulents, sprigs of eucalyptus – greenery makes everything look better and makes for gorgeous table setting options. Experiment with seasonal plants and flowers for the perfect summer and autumn-inspired aesthetic and garnish your drinks with fresh herbs for a fresh twist on the botanical décor trend.

Light it up

Create a chilled atmosphere with candles and twinkling lights. Opt for a mix of chic candelabras and chunky scented candles for the perfect ambience indoors or al fresco.

Beauty Blogger Camila Coelho is giving us major vacation goals as per usual. Her swimsuit is just stunning and I find really cool that her top and bottom don't match. Mixing bikini pieces is always fun, but always look for tops and bottoms within the same color family as Camila did here. photo credit: @byrdie on twitter #swinsuit #summer #look #style

From Gucci to Marni luxury labels have been gifting us with far-out prints in statement colors for SS18 and beyond. These pieces look gorgeous when paired on a catwalk but what about when it comes to the practicalities of dressing for every day?

Clashing prints is a tricky trend to master, especially if you want to look chic for work, meetings and brunches with friends. There’s a fine line between effortless beauty and bag lady but fret not, we’re here to help.

Whatever your budget, take stock of our Editors’ tips and browse our picks below to look like a bonafide member of the Gucci gang day and night…

Keep it tonal

Keeping your pieces in the same color family, or clashing complementary colors will help to keep the look chic. Don’t go too matchy matchy but always keep your palette in mind.

Scale is everything

Too many oversized print pieces will drown you so remember to balance your silhouette. Team boxy jackets with voluminous skirts and pants and opt for slouchy tops and sweaters with mini skirts and tapered pants.

Mix fabrics

To accentuate the contrast between your prints, opt for clashing fabrics too. Mix silk with jacquards and crepe with denim and beading for a next-level look.

Accessories rules

Less is more with this trend so keep your shoes sleek and opt for simple earrings and rings. A single statement necklace always works well but keep it classic with a gold-toned chain or simple chunky knotted style.

Last week saw the the royal family being involved in many important events. The arrival of Donald and Melania Trump at Windsor Castel for tea with Queen Elizabeth was one of these. Melania wore a Christian Dior tailleur and she seemed not to break the protocol (well, they arrived 12 minutes late). #melaniatrump

Lady Diana would have been 57 today. While we still miss her more than ever, the Diana legacy will keep speaking for itself teaching new generations the values of her charity work through the efforts of William and Harry as representatives of the royal family. #ladydiana

Have you ever been to Paris? I've been yes, but just once. The Disneyland in Paris is the most popular, funniest program to all the family. Btw, I like this girl's style as well. This off shoulder pink top is girly, isn't it? And her hair with that mouse accessory? So cuteeee! Photo credit @fashiogalsz on #instagram #ootd #fashion #havefun #Paris

Too faced have always been known for launching very extravagant and playful collection, so, I was pretty pleased to see that they were launching a more natural one.  As a fan of blush and highlighter this one face palette caught instantly my attention.  I could see myself gravitating to this palette all year around, there are two highlights from the pink family that I would love using for every day, three shades of blushes that could use depending on the seasons and mood and one matte bronzer, because who doesn't need one? photo credit: @toofaced. #beauty #makeup #toofaced

If you're a hopeless romantic with an eye for style, you're probably going to be glued to your screen this Saturday May 19 to see American actress Meghan Markle marry Prince Harry and become British royalty. Speaking of royal wedding dresses, it was Queen Victoria who started the tradition of wearing white on your wedding day.Since then, the wedding dress has adopted a strong sense of symbolism.

For women like Duchess Kate Middleton, Princess Grace Kelly and Princess Diana, the white dress  carried them into the royal family
