London is known for being the most experimental of all of the Fashion Week cities – with so many up-and-coming designers on the schedule, there’s always a collection to suit every style. Now that autumn is upon us, we’ve rounded up the top trends we spotted at LFW that you’re about to see everywhere...

Corduroy

Meet the most unexpected trend of the season: Roland Mouret, Erdem and Emilia Wickstead gave corduroy a whole new look with pretty shades and feminine silhouettes – try a midi skirt or flared trousers to take it into the evening.

Sequins

Sequinned pieces for party season may not sound groundbreaking, but the LFW runways were awash with shimmering designs. Look to Temperley London, Halpern and Toga for inspiration, and try an ‘80s-inspired shape to tick off two trends in one.

Tartan

Checks were all over the AW18 runways, but London’s had a punk feel to them. Simone Rocha and House of Holland both showed head-to-toe tartan looks, and we predict you’re about to see a whole lot more of them on your favourite influencers.

Rainbow stripes

Christopher Bailey’s final collection for Burberry was a tribute to PRIDE, but it wasn’t the only show that was dominated by rainbow hues – Ashish and Osman also presented bold multicolored pieces, from striped trousers to embellished dresses.

Blanket coats

Perhaps the most practical trend for autumn, blanket dressing was a key theme throughout the London shows. From Rokanda’s checked wraps to Delpozo’s furry asymmetric styles, these cosy cover-ups will be the coolest way to stay warm this winter.

Finally, the wait is over. After months of excitement, this Saturday May 19, the most talked about couple of the year will tie the knot at St George's Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle. As far as we know, they've chosen a carriage and arranged luxurious catering for 600 guests including Sir Elton John and the Spice Girls. Meghan Markle will have no adult bridesmaids as she's unable to choose between her friends and will instead be surrounded page boys, bridesmaids and flower girls.

However, just like the rest of the world, what the team at SHOPCADE is mostly excited about is the dress. All bets are off when it comes to the designer though Ralph & Russo and Erdem are among the rumoured but whoever it is, the designer will go down in history.

Our Editors have a few ideas for the perfect royal wedding guest outfit, so you can join in on the fun, even if your invite got lost in the mail.

A polka dot dress would definitely make the cut, it's classic and elegant. Pair it with strappy heels and a simple clutch for a play-it-safe look. Next up, an edgier look with flats and a long-sleeved silk dress. And finally, a statement look by way of a Victorian-inspired ruffled top with flattering pants and mules. Chic and royal-wedding ready.

Florence Welch recently made headlines all over the world as she sang tracks from her new album High as Hope at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Once again, Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine proved her skill not only in song and stage presence, but with her signature theatrical boho style – something we’ve always loved about her.

During the Chanel AW2015 show she conquered the red carpet in a blush-pink pantsuit with eclectic accessories and a huge black fedora hat. While at Erdem she appeared in an emerald-green feather coat, complementing a pair of dark-wash jeans.

A gal truly inspired by the '70s, Florence isn’t afraid of bold print and rocks anything from psychedelic swirls to chintzy florals. Sporting gowns with billowing capes – like that gorgeous custom Gucci column gown she donned for Chime for Change – this singer always wows us with her maximalist style. F

or accessories, Flo seems to love a fringed bag or teeny, tiny clutches. She's a fan of silk scarves, unique headpieces and of course, dangling bohemian earrings.

Erdem was one of the most talked about designers this year after his H&M collaboration. The designer is not stopping and has a new collaboration with 24 Sevres. Inspired by the British Ballet Dancer Margot Fonteyn, the designer continues to paint the world in florals. Although last season designers were trading the New York catwalks for British and Parisian shows, this year it seems that London has followed New York's example. Most notably, Topshop abandoned the runway for its traditional Unique show while Emporio Armani and  Tommy Hilfiger also forewent the shows as they were a big departure from London's experimental design team. However, LFW is all about fresh designers, innovative thinking unexpected garments, and bold statements.

THE NEWCOMERS

AV Robertson who designed for Marc Jacobs and Presented at Fashion East is one of the emerging designers to watch. Matty Bovan is a press favourite already as she made the cut of The Kids Are Alright in British Vogue's January issue. After earning the Emerging Womenswear Designer award at the Fashion Awards in September, Michael Halpern is constructing an ambitious production and a much-anticipated collection.

THE VETS

We'll witness the departure of Christopher Bailey from Burberry on Saturday after 17 years with the House. Johny Coca from Mulberry will be back on the London stage after a small detour to Paris in September, while Delpozo is bringing ball gowns to London in the place of Ralph & Russo. We're really excited to see JW Anderson whose missed the usual Men's show but is putting on his first co-ed collection.

THE REGULARS

Even though we may be missing a few names from the list, we can still count on Roksanda, Erdem and Christopher Kane to impress at LFW. Newcomer Michael Halpern will throw a soiree with Brows while Gareth Pugh is hosting a decadent party of his own. Sunday is all about Edward Enninful's British Vogue BAFTA party that will follow after the ceremony.Ready for a taste of London Fashion Week? Scroll down below and shop everything British!

The lust for velvet continues to capture our imagination with Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid sporting the trend that has pervaded the wardrobes of trendsetters and celebrities proving to be a red-carpet staple for Winter months - especially during Award season. From Amy Adams and Rita Ora in a lavish Tom Ford, Lady Gaga and Lily Donaldson in pure black and Nicole Kidman in a plunging velvet Armani Privé dress at this year’s BAFTAs.

Here’s why we’re still craving for that velvet touch.

Velvet massively took off in 2017 and is still going strong this season. This time the look is more elevated - less studio 54 and more uptown-chic. Think tailored suits, swinging dresses and grandiose skirts courtesy of Prada, Koche and Erdem.

You can go completely head to toe in sumptuous rolls of velvet, or select some velvet accessories for a touch of glamour: From quilted cross body bags to velvet embellished platforms, block heels and slingback shoes available both from designers like Prada and Rochas but also more affordable retailers like ASOS and Forever 21.

Velvet’s main characteristics are that elaborate look due to its complex and luxurious texture. However some hues on velvet can have an undesirable effect. When it comes to colour palette opt for shades of burgundy, teal, mustard, and crimson that dominate the Winter 2018 season.

Be the first to sport the velvet trend by selecting your favourite items from our exclusive edit below!

Kudos to Kylie Jenner for one-upping the Super Bowl by announcing the birth of her daughter. The youngest member of the reality TV clan released a youtube video tribute to her newborn on Sunday revealing previously unseen footage of her pregnancy, intimate moments with her family and the birth. What struck us was how Jenner stayed true to her style even as her body changed- sticking to mostly oversized t-shirts and sweats that comfortably hid the bump while she was keeping the news under wraps. But when she wanted to show it off among her friends and family: it was body-con dresses all the way- mini, maxi whatever. Now as Jenner is just 20, you may think that her age played a role in her decision not to adopt traditional maternity wear and keep an eye on the trends, but other pregnant women with enviable wardrobes have done the same. (Side note: did you see her daughter’s wardrobe? North West’s got serious competition as Kris Jenner’s best dressed granddaughter).

We did a double take when we saw the Duchess of Cambridge in that head-turning Erdem gown during her royal visit to Sweden. Wow. Yellow, florals, ruffled detail, that’s at least three enduring trends tick tick ticked. She looked stunning and arguably the best we’ve seen her look since she entered the spotlight as William’s girlfriend. The dress skimmed delightfully over her neat bump without making her look bulky, proving that more fitted silhouettes aren’t out of the question for eveningwear if they fit properly. Get a tailor if needed. In fact the whole trip threw up some great looks- the red and white houndstooth coat (similar to Princess Diana’s) and another floral Erdem dress- in blue velvet the second time.

But what about if you’re more tomboyish or you have your own distinctive look? Enter streetstyle star Veronika Heilbrunner who announced her pregnancy last month and hasn’t changed her style one jot. She still showing off her endless legs (in tights as it’s winter), wearing mini or clingy dresses with chunky boots and bold bags. The only discerning change is maybe she’s wearing less trousers than usual but time will tell and she’s got months and fashion weeks of pregnancy to go. It will be interesting to see how and if her sartorial taste changes. Katherine Ormerod is another fashionable women lauded for her outfits. In her own words and judging by her instagram feed, she’s actually kept on wearing her pre-pregnancy pieces with clever layering. It seems she was fond of oversized silhouettes anyway which have been able to accommodate her bump.

All in all, these four women demonstrate four different-but-successful approaches to pregnancy dressing. Pick your favourite and shop their looks in our edits below.
