If there's one trend that should never go out of style that is comfortable looks. It's essential to any outfit to feel that it moves along with the body and facilitates our lives instead of being constricting and well... a burden. Which is why when pyjamas became an official outerwear trend there must have been a universal sigh of relief heard across the world of women tired of their binding and uncomfortable clothing.

Loungewear worn as everyday clothing became a massive trend including the very popular slip dress, the bralette and corset. But there's something innately brilliant about sporting pyjamas as an outfit because in a way it resembles a more relaxed version of a business suit. Inspired by the 20's and Coco Chanel this trend shows no signs of slowing down and we're completely on board. Opt for a cover-up or a kimono for starters as an outerwear and then don a full head-to-toe pyjama look taking cues from Olivia Palermo, Rihanna, and Gigi Hadid to name a few.

There's definitely something about the allure of the corset. They bring to mind burlesque, Victoriana and the lace-up body-con styles made famous by the Kardashian/Jenner clan. In any case, a little goes a long way and a corset lends even the most casual looks poise and definition. Coincidentally, the classic corset is one of the strongest trends of the season. In fact, the style set were rocking corsets last season too; cinching their jackets, dresses and shirts with lace-up accessories.

For SS18, designers have revisited the trend and paired impressive corsets with contemporary dresses and T-shirts. Take Isabel Marant, who took casual double denim to new heights with a white corset and infused monochrome looks with pops of color via corset belts. Over at Balenciaga, Demna Gvasalia juxtaposed bold, over the top shoulder silhouettes with cinched waists. While Loewe showcased one of the best selling corsets adopted by editors and influencers from London to Paris.

How to style a corset?

For an understated look, try pairing a simple white tee with a cool corset or lace-up belt, or cinch your coat or blazer at the waist for a twist on spring layering – a classic trench works wonders for this. Or for something to take you from day to night with ease, team a corset with a dress or button-down shirt and your favorite jeans. Feeling more glam? Transform a blazer into a dress by adding a corset and add just add heels.

The incredible costumes in 'Black Panther' exceeded our wildest expectations, and so has Lupita Nyong’o 's style in her most recent appearances. Yet again. Because the Kenyan-Mexican actress, who plays Nakia in the groundbreaking movie, first marked herself out as a red carpet fashion superstar on her way to winning her Best Supporting Actress Oscar for ’12 Years A Slave.’ And to promote her most high profile film since, she’s wowed at every turn. There was the floaty purple gown anchored with a jewelled harness she twirled in at the New York premiere; the low cut, high slitted black gown dusted in silver that she wore for the London one; and our favourite look of the lot? The brown Dolce & Gabbana dress she wore at a New York screening of the film earlier this week. This was Nyong’o’s take on nude and she looked like a dream- with the corset bodice and all-over ruching defining her curves. Shimmering metallic earrings, heels and a clutch were the finishing touches. The actress has been flexing her sartorial muscles off the red carpet as well by rocking a on-point blue pencil skirt look at the AW18 Calvin Klein show; and also made the case for double patent by wearing a shiny black trench and matching trousers together on the street. Massive props to her stylist Micaela Erlanger as well.

We don’t think we’re exaggerating to say that Nyong’o’s gorgeous make-up and head-turning hairstyles take her already stunning outfits to another level. Seemingly picking up where the film’s hair department head Camilla Friend left off, the actress has teased her natural hair into a towering twisted top knot, a fluffy high ponytail, sculptural puffs and more in recent works. What wonderful expressions of black beauty! We can't wait to see what she wears next.

Check out Nyong'o's amazing recent looks in the gallery above and then shop our expert fashion and beauty edits below.

We’re just as excited to discover the runaway and  streetstyle trends when Fashion Month rolls around and New York Fashion Week AW18 hasn’t disappointed so far. We spotted inspired ways to style boxy tailoring, daytime sequins, plastic raincoats, look-at-me colour and more so far from Susie Bubble, Camille Charriere et al, but we’re most taken with how ubiquitous a belted waist is. Almost, if not, every day we’ve spied a belted coat (trenches are trending), or a statement strap pulling an otherwise ordinary outfit together with polish. And if you thought we’d reach peak belt bag, think again. Only sporty bum bags have been replaced with ladylike purses.

The best thing about this easy streetstyle trick is that you probably have a belt or belt bag in your wardrobe already that you can use. Don’t be afraid to clash tones and textures, the more unexpected the better to really get in on the action; and a corset belt will give your outerwear a dramatic new dimension. Let your belt bag whittle your waist, rather than buckling it on the hip or over one shoulder, as you’ll leave your hands free and create the illusion of an hourglass figure. That's flattering on everyone.

Shop our edits of the best belts, belt bags and belted coats below so you can trial the trend now.

Lingerie has been one of designers favourite items for the past few seasons. 2017 was really the year of the lingerie worn as outerwear. The rise of the bralette during Coachella and the summer months, while wearing slip dresses over white t-shirts became the norm (thank you 90's throwback), corsets were trending like crazy as well as slip dresses worn as the new best party dress of the season.

Now during last Paris Fashion Week, Gigi Hadid appeared in a plunging naked dress while sister Bella appeared in Dior showing off her black strap bra. It seems like the best way to sport the visible underwear trend is by opting for big black knickers just like Bridget Jones would do! Singer Dua Lipa is all about wearing a bra, cropped top or bralette as an actual top.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we wanted to dig up the best trends in lingerie worn in their original fashion too!

Scroll down below and find out what you'll be buying this season:

Any trend that doesn’t really require ironing gets an extra thumbs up from us. Enter ruching (ruche), defined by Oxford Dictionary as a decorative frill or pleat of fabric, which sometimes has a drawstring attached so you can control and adapt it. You’ll remember the horizontal pleats (creases?) and fabric gatherings that took centre stage on the most memorable dresses in Pretty Women and your favourite ‘80s films. And for good reason because they showed off the wearer’s figure to mouth-opening effect, creating covetable curves. Ruching is one of Dolce & Gabbana’s bombshell signatures, while Kim Kardashian-West wore a sheer ruched minidress to the 2016 VMAs which spawned countless copycats. Balenciaga’s Creative Director Demna Gvasalia has given the technique a revamp, and most importably for our wardrobes, real daytime appeal by using it in his recent collections.

We’re most taken with ruched dresses, rather than tops, because they are winning one-and-done outfits. They’ll help you flaunt the fabulous figure you’ve been honing at the gym in a more notable, fashion-y way than a basic body-con dress. Whether the decorative detail is confined to the bust, employed to whittle your waist like an infinitely more comfortable corset, or all over: modern styles come in all lengths, shapes and colours with barely a whiff of the ‘80s. You can cover up or go sheer (visible underwear is another key micro trend, by the way, that Bella Hadid is owning) and the silhouette created will wow. Perfect, then, for any Valentine’s day dates you'll have coming up; during the day or after dark.

You know that in fashion everything comes back and this year, the corset joins the most important trends. Coco Chanel in the early twentieth century freed women from the ties of this garment, but this season, fashion has wanted to pay tribute; although it is true that they have nothing to do with the massive structures that were fastened to the maximum to highlight the waist of women centuries ago. Have a look at our gallery for more inspiration! Credits: Pinterest

So I have recently purchased this little beauty and as simple as it may look, the corset makes it a killer style! There has been an increase in popularity over corsets and now behold the corset dress. It adds that little bit extra to an oversized tee and the best part is you can wear the corset with other clothes. You may have a plain top that you find a little boring now, but just add the corset and it changes the whole style. I recommend that this is a definite must-buy and you can find it on Asos! #asos #corset
