We're only just a few days before we celebrate Easter and we have already been witnessing the Easter bunny craze from shops, to restaurants even family homes. There's nothing better than enjoying quality time with family and friends at home during the holidays. It feels even cosier in an environment that has been decked out to embrace the event. It's time to hunt shop and put together amazing decorations that will infuse your home with that holiday spirit.

As an added bonus these DIY Easter ideas are a great way to spend time with loved ones especially if you have children or young relatives or simply are looking for an excuse to do some art & crafts.

SHAVE CREAM EASTER EGGS

Take an ordinary product to decorate a whole array of marbelized Easter eggs. You only need some natural food colouring or some dye to design on a bed of plain shaving cream. Then roll some hard-boiled eggs over the surface to create this cool multi-colour effect. Let the eggs dry and gently clean to remove any extra shaving cream.

WATERCOLOUR EASTER EGGS

A very inexpensive way to decorate Easter eggs is by using watercolour paints. For an amazing marble egg, use a round brush and create a two-tone effect by adding water to the original colour and stamping on the second round of dots.

FRUIT & VEGETABLE EGGS

Take small hard-boiled eggs and dip them to one solid colour. Add details with a permanent marker to make them look like your fave fruit or veggie. Add a personalised message from someone in your family, and make this an extra individual affair.

You probably heard about the controversy surrounding one of H&M’s kids slogan hoodies earlier this month by now. Which got us thinking about the perils of wearing a seemingly innocent slogan without considering the repercussions. Because as that story showed, you might not be offended by the message spelled out but other people who see you in real life and/or on social media in it might be and they could aggressively confront you about it. Swear words (disguised or not) and double entendres are most problematic as you have no idea of knowing what meaning individuals place of different words or phrases. On the other hand, why should you and your clothing be censored? One of fashion’s fundamental principles is freedom of expression and we are lucky enough to live in a country where we can wear what we want. While there are lines that shouldn’t be crossed (nothing discriminatory, racist, homophobic, sexist etc), you should be able to wear your sense of humour or thoughtfully share your opinion should you wish.

As a general rule of thumb, though, we’d say if you’re in doubt, don’t wear it out. Stick to the positive, easy-to-laugh at, empowering and motivational phrases that are sure to spark a smile or provoke conversation. Also be sure that you believe in and stand by what your hoodie says as you will be judged by it. Dior arguably sparked the new wave of slogan clothing with their ‘We should all be feminists’ t-shirt, inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s powerful Ted talk and essay, and printing or embroidering words on a warmer hoodie is a winter-perfect upgrade.

We’ve rounded up our favourite slogan hoodies for women, men and children for you to shop in our edit below.

Three is usually a trend but as the Cambridges released their official Christmas photo this week, and the Kardashian-Jenners have been releasing daily sneak-peeks of their own holiday shot, we’ll make Christmas photos an exception. And by ‘Christmas photos’ we don’t mean family members awkwardly posing for an impromptu snap, we mean coordinated outfits, a professional photographer, the works to capture the moment for prosperity and social media.

Clearly these two famous families have different approaches. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stand smiling broadly at the camera with their adorable children Prince George and Princess Charlotte on a plain light background. Smartly dressed in different shades of blue, they look glossy but pretty normal. Last year they used an outdoor shot from their trip to Canada. In contrast, the Kardashian-Jenners’ pictures could double as a high-fashion shoot with ‘natural’ makeup, poses and denim and t-shirt outfits.

For your own Christmas photo, think about what you’re going to use it for, who’s going to be in it and how authentic you want it to be. Is it going to be tricky to get everyone together and dressed the same? Some families are collectively more into this than others. What’s your budget for the studio (if you’re going that far), a photographer, a makeup artist? You’ve probably missed the boat for printed Christmas cards this year but an e-card to your loved ones will have the same effect. This is a great way to mark your family memories of 2017 and possibly start a new tradition.

Check out our expert edits below to take clothing cues from the Cambridges and the Kardashian-Jenners, and if you'd prefer, shoot the picture yourself.

In case you somehow missed it, tomorrow Friday December 15th we're sporting our Christmas Sweaters with pride. Launched in 2011 the annual celebration of Christmas Sweater Day is not as silly as you may think. Actually there is a reason in wearing that colourful, brash and slightly embarrassing jumper. There is more to wearing those seasonal knits featuring Rudolph, Christmas puddings and Frosty the Snowman. It’s the fundraising event with a serious aim in aid of Save the Children. It’s an umbrella that helps to drive charity funds for organisations that help children on a global scale.

As the trend has being going on for some years many retailers have put a more stylish spin into the historically awkward Christmas sweater. From Boohoo and Forever21, Nasty Gal, Lord & Taylor as well as SAKS Fifth Avenue, you’ll definitely discover a style that doesn’t make you cringe. This year try to style it with a cool leather jacket, a vinyl skirt and ankle boots and blend that overtly Christmas spirit into a more cohesive party outfit! Have a look at our gallery for more inspo on how to wear the Christmas Jumper and shop you’re favourite style from our edit below!

They’re the kind of people who spend hours watching and sharing cute animal videos, and who'd take being described as a ‘cat lady’ (or man) as a massive compliment. Their pets are treated like their children, complete with home-cooked meals and adorable outfits; while the animal lovers that don’t have their own, due to living arrangements and lifestyle, desperately want one. Animal motifs also slide into their wardrobes, although wearing animal skin and prints is a personal preference.

Go the extra mile by gifting them something thoughtful related to their favourite animal. That might mean bespoke treats and cute toys for their pet which will lead to hours of fun, or a novelty costume to create great instagram fodder. A special trip to the zoo or animal handling to visit the more unusual species will live long the memory. And they’ll show off an gorgeous animal embellished top or accessory at every opportunity.

Maybe it’s a clever tactic to simultaneously keep warm and spread a little holiday cheer, or just Save the Children’s genius charity fundraising idea but Christmas jumpers are officially a thing. And as it’s Christmas Jumper day this Friday 15th December, if you see one you like: buy it and put it on asap. All your favourite brands have knitted up some real festive treats from witty puns and slogans, to reindeer and gingerbread motifs, and a sprinkling of stars for those trying to limit the tacky factor. Opt for a tinsel style if you want to take yours into partywear territory. The best thing about a cosy Christmas jumper is that you can wear them everyday over the holidays, no matter your age and size, and the extra room to house an inevitable food baby come Boxing Day is a bonus. To join in properly, Save the Children only asks for a £2 donation in exchange for flaunting your delightful knit.

Shop the Christmas jumpers that get a thumbs up from us below.

We can finally agree that Black Friday is here! And with it a sense of relief that all that relentless begging for new toys, dolls and gadgets may end with a few new Black Friday deal merchandise! Yes, our lovely children whether it's our actual child or our niece have their own specific needs and it's daunting coming up with new ideas that are affordable, practical yet fun but also toys that will enhance the child's cognitive skills and thus make their parents extra happy! And although clothing is a great gift for parents kids will rarely be excited about a pair of new shoes.

This year at Shopcade we selected a range of wonderful toys for Black Friday that will make both the parents and the children happy! From Action Figures and Superhero toys to arts & craft, baby & toddler learning toys, bikes and scooters, and cars trains, pretend play baking ovens, as well as a wide range of dolls and video games!

Happy Black Friday shopping!
