Every month we compile a list of all the pieces, trends and brands we’re wearing, loving and adding to our wish lists. From everyday essentials that have been keeping us looking fresh for the new season to statement pieces we’re saving our pennies for, here’s everything on the SC radar for October…

Checks, stripes, florals and animal prints – this season is all about print and pattern. We’ve been shopping for checked jackets and cool jacquard trousers, boho floral maxi dresses and leopard-print minis.

Of course, the biker jacket is an October staple and due to this month’s strange and changeable weather, we’ve not left the house without ours. Plus, it’s boot season and there’s not a single pair of autumn boots that doesn’t go with a leather jacket.

When it comes to accessories we’ve been loving tan leather in the form of shoes, bags and belts and layered charm necklaces in warm gold and rose-gold tones.

Simple jumper dresses and men’s shirts in autumnal hues have also been our jam this month – think textural pieces in fine cord, denim and pink chambray.

Want to steal our favourite looks? Simply shop the edit below for our autumnal picks…

Denim has historically been one of the most flattering fabrics for both men and women. Its unique versatility factor puts it front and centre for the high street and the high end. The level of creativity for 2018 is uncompromising and can range from a pile of patches acting as jeans to exaggerated forms that can be styled in completely unexpected ways. Look out for lots of cutouts, embroidery, patches and variety in hemlines in our top picks below!

CUTOUTS
#262626">
#262626">Take your cues from Kendall Jenner by styling a cut-out midi denim skirt with a silk spaghetti strap top. Finish the look with a vintage pair of 90s inspired sunnies and an equally grungy pair of mules for an edgier outfit.

MODEL OFF DUTY JEANS
#262626">
#262626">Super tight skinny jeans have morphed into straight cut styles that are comfier and define the silhouette without being constraining. Gigi Hadid and sister Bella were spotted sporting a more laid-back option: layers of denim. To achieve Gigi’s London Fashion Week off-duty look, the model layered chambray and yellow plaid button-downs with a long, frayed denim vest, then stunned with white and light blue layered, cropped jeans.

STEP HEM

If you really want to nail the 2018 denim look then look no further than the step hem, which shows no signs of stopping since last season. You can thank Vetements for the much needed innovative twist! #262626">If you don't have the Vetements budget, why don't you DIY and give one of your pairs a makeover by staggering the edges.Look below for other affordable options. The great thing about the step hem is that you can style it as you please while showing off your shoe.

TRIPLE DENIM

Canadian tuxedo has many retro connotations that range #262626">from Dolly Parton to Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears circa 2001.Nowadays you can triple or quadruple your denim by wearing contrasting shades or denim thickness. Play with proportions and juxtaposing materials for the most impressive results.

FRINGING

For the past three years, tassels and fringes have been put front and centre everywhere from Zara to Anthropologie, without any signs of abandoning the limelight. #262626">The trend's evolved so you don't have to stick to your frayed jeans necessarily. Pick up a fringed mini skirt with fringes, a distressed denim jacket or opt for a pair of uber cool denim sandals finished with tassels. One of our favourites is a distressed denim blouse with a frayed hem courtesy of Marques’ Almeida.

EMBROIDERED

The obvious option here is springtime florals. From rock n roll roses to funky pineapples even quotes make for a super stylish way to decorate your favourite pair of jeans this summer.

PATCHWORK

You can try clashing similar blue tonal panels or play with different sizing by assembling large squares with minuscule patches on the jeans taking cues from Eva Chen and Kendall Jenner. Experiment with positioning pockets in unexpected places or colours. If DIY is not your calling, don't worry. Just browse through our selected edit of denim items and shop your favourite items now!

Denim has historically been one of the most flattering fabrics for both men and women. It's also surprisingly versatile, adored by the high street and the high end alike. So it came as no surprise that for AW18 denim is super playful unexpected and comfortable. This means no skinny jeans in the horizon, lots of cutouts, embroidery, patches and variety in hemlines. Here are our top picks!

CUTOUTS

Take cues from Kendall Jenner and sport a sexy midi denim skirt with cutouts and style it with a silk spaghetti strapped top with detailing. Finish the look with a vintage pair of 90s inspired sunnies and an equally grungy pair of mules for an extra chic look.

MODEL OFF DUTY JEANS

The days of skinny jeans are thankfully pretty much over for our figures and most of all for optimum blood circulation. Yes, those things were tight. Bella Hadid, Gigi and the entire bunch are sporting a much more comfy solution: boyfriend jeans. For example, Bella opted for a red-hot appeal to a dated Canadian tuxedo while Kendall (going for denim again) wore a sheer bodysuit under a dark wash pant and jacket. Frederikke Sofie went for a polished jumpsuit and layered it on a duster jacket while Imaan Hammam went old school by pairing her baggy overalls with a plaid top.

STEP HEM

If you really want to nail the 2018 denim look then look no further than the step hem. You can thank French designers Vetements for the much needed innovative twist! If you don't have the Vetements budget why not try a little DIY and give them a makeover with staggered edges. Look below for other affordable options. The great thing about the step hem is that you can style it as you please, no rules apply here!

DOUBLE DENIM

Canadian tuxedo has many retro connotations that range from Woodstock, to Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears circa 2001, to Dolly Parton circa forever. But even if the trend seems dated, kitsch or unflattering it actually completely depends on styling. You can go safe, by throwing a chambray shift over your denim dress, instead of going head to toe dungarees and jacket. Try sporting a deconstructed denim shirt over your denim skirt shorts or trousers and it will instantly give a modern look to your outfit.

FRINGING

For the past 3 years, tassels and fringes have been put front and centre and they don't show any signs of abandoning the limelight. The great news about a trend sticking around for more than a few seasons is that it's been given a chance to evolve. So you don't have to stick to your frayed hem jeans, necessarily. Pick up a mini skirt with fringes, a flawless denim jacket or opt for a pair of uber cool denim sandals finished with tassels. One of our favourites is a distressed denim blouse with a frayed hem courtesy of Marcus Almeida. Thank you!

EMBROIDERED

This is the year to go for embroidered. The obvious option here is springtime florals but don't let that hinder you. From rock n roll roses, to funky pineapples even quotes make for a super stylish way to decorate your favourite pair of jeans this summer.

PATCHWORK

If you want to play with dimension design and personality adding uber cool patches is the denim path for you! You can try clashing similar blue tonal panels or play with different sizing by assembling large squares with minuscule patches on the jeans. Experiment with positioning pockets in unexpected places or colours. If DIY is not your calling don't worry! Just browse through our selected edit of denim items and shop your favourite items now!

Denim has historically been one of the most flattering fabrics for both men and women. It's also surprisingly versatile, adored by the high street and the high-end alike. So it comes as no surprise that for SS17, denim is refreshingly playful, eclectic and comfortable. This means no skinny jeans on the horizon, but a variety of cutouts, embroidery, patches and hemlines instead. Denim is one of the classic symbols of the American West, representing a culture and a history of style. That's precisely why this Black Friday, Saks, the most prominent department store in the US, is offering a massive deal on denim!

Take cues from Kendall Jenner and sport a sexy denim midi skirt with cutouts, styling it with a silk spaghetti strapped top with exquisite detailing. Finish the look with a vintage pair of 90s-inspired sunnies and a grungy pair of mules for an extra chic summer look. The days of skinny jeans are *thankfully* over, so you can finally give your self-conscious minds a break and stop worrying whether or not your pair of jeans is cutting off your blood flow.

Bella Hadid, Gigi and the entire bunch are sporting a cooler and comfier solution, the boyfriend jeans. Bella opted for a red-hot appeal to a dated Canadian tuxedo, while Kendall (going for denim again) wore a sheer bodysuit under a dark wash pant and jacket. They say the primordial rule of fashion is to avoid pairing the same fabric together, particularly when it comes to denim. The denim on denim look, fondly called the Canadian suit, is very easy to mess up. However, the mess can be avoided with just a little bit of care and our styling tips below! Here's what you need to do -

1) Don't match your denims
If you plan to wear a denim shirt or jacket with your jeans, then make sure that they are of different weights and washes. For instance, wear your favourite black distressed skinny jeans with a denim chambray shirt. This way, your denims don't clash, and your outfit still has different textures to it. Take your time to get into the double shades of blue, once you think you can handle it.

2) Rip them up
Distressed denim can be a good friend to you when pairing blue and blue denim together. It cuts through the denim and adds a grunge vibe to your look. So pair your favourite ripped denim cutoffs with a plain tee, sneakers, and a denim jacket for that perfect summery look!

3) Chic it up
Don't be afraid to add glamour to your denim look, with the help of some accessories! Try a statement red lip, or add a stunning pair of black pumps and a messy topknot to your look for a casually chic vibe.

However glamorous, life of a blogger can be crazy busy and exhausting if you're looking to build networks and continuous collaborate. Every day, we head out with our head up high, but return home tired and completely drained of energy, so much that it shows on our faces! It's why we asked fashion blogger Pallavi of Moda Ninja for a few tips, because no matter when we see her, there's always a refreshing glow on her face!

Read on for a few beauty tips from her and also to know a little bit about her life.

Shopcade HQ (SHQ): What do you do?
Pallavi (P): I am a part time fashion blogger, part-time fashion consultant and sustainable development consultant.

SHQ: How do you best describe your style
P: My style is a mix of boho chic and androgyny.

SHQ: Your fail-safe outfit/product
P: Shirt dress in bright colours like red or yellow, can easily dress it up with heels and jewellery or dress down with a chambray shirt and oxfords or casual with wedges and some neck piece!

SHQ: One trend you are loving at the moment
P: I have ligament tear in both my ankles so I love the 'sneakers with everything' trend.

SHQ: One trend/product you would never wear, if any
P: *smirks* Crocs!

SHQ: Long fashion week days - what are your tips?
P:
1. Wash and blow-dry hair first day so you save time for next 3 days.
2. Wear comfortable shoes
3. Carry battery back up, body spray and mint!

SHQ: Things you can't leave without when heading to an event?
P: Battery backup, credit card, body spray, lip balm, mint, notebook pen and visiting cards.

SHQ: With this fast paced lifestyle, any tips for skincare?
P:
1. Hydrate your body, drink lots of water with a slice of lemon and mint to keep up with socialising at parties and oily food!
2. Take off your makeup, however tired you are after the Diwali parties. I apply aloe vera gel fresh from plant with honey on my face, it is loaded with antioxidants and is good for sensitive skin and sunburns.

Does this make your life easier? Well, it definitely helped us a lot!

Because really, you can never have enough denim! Double denim is an eye catching style trick that has been around for ages, but the trick to pulling off a high fashion version is incorporating the latest pieces.

This season, try including denim items like cropped jeans, raw-edged flared culottes, and lighter chambray tops. Boxy denim jackets and any embroidered denim will also work to update your look!

Kate Bosworth stepped out in one of the cutest outfits for Spring that I’ve seen thus far. It’s edgy, casual and it mixed light colors with darker colors.

An outfit that IS perfection. What makes this outfit perfection you ask? Well it could be the seamless black going from her thigh high boots up to her skin tight jeans.

It could be the way she layered one light color on top of the other for a tonal look. It could also be the way that she added amazing accessories to the look like oversized square sunglasses, a western belt and backpack.

Any of these reasons are a good reason for why I think this outfit is THE go-to look for Spring.

Black pants, black coat and white sneakers is the perfect base for any outfit. You can interchange your shirt and accessories making this THE go-to look of the winter.

Jessica Alba is known for her amazing style and the boss lady showed us no different in this look. She could have worn a regular sweater or tshirt under her coat or she could have thrown her hair up in a simple pony tail, which would be great, but clichè.

Instead, Jessicawore a blue fedora (chic!) and a chambray top (super chic!). Her layering styles are perfection and we can all take cues from this look.

Bodysuits are a versatile basic that can be dressed up or down to suit all occasions. Learn how to nail the latter look with our tips below:

Turtleneck bodysuits
Turtleneck bodysuits keep you warm without the risk of experiencing that icy blast on your back each time you sit down. For the perfect casual look, opt for boyfriend jeans, clogs or sneakers and a faux fur coat to keep you warm.

Plunge-neck bodysuits
Skirts are a great option for plunge-neck bodysuits, particularly when placed just above the navel. Whether you choose a mini or midi skirt, opt for a structured style to create a sassy silhouette. Accessorise with lace-up booties and a delicate choker.

Off-the-shoulder bodysuits
Overalls create the ultimate casual-chic style when paired with off-the-shoulder bodysuits. Whether your overalls are made of soft cotton, corduroy or denim, pair your outfit with slip-on loafers and a cross-body bag.

Striped bodysuits
Striped crew neck bodysuits go great with slouchy chambray pants. Roughly roll up the hem of your pants to enhance the casual feel, and pair with a leather jacket and jewelry that make a statement - large rings and ear cuffs are great choices.

Sleeveless and cut-out bodysuits
If your bodysuit is sleeveless or has cut-outs, go for printed trousers to create an interesting contrast. Top it off with a rustic sherpa coat and bangles for a minimalist look.
