With cooler weather just around the corner it’s time to start thinking about layering up. Obviously we’re not talking winter coats just yet but a jacket is always a good idea.

We recommend embracing the sporty, laid-back looks dominating the runway of late and lending your fall-ready ensemble an edge with a varsity jacket, a classic bomber or a baseball-inspired style.

Rolled out by Gucci and Chanel with luxe sequinned twists and cool monogramming and adopted by affordable brands here, there and everywhere in satin, velvet and crepe iterations, a boxy jacket is a guaranteed wardrobe hero.

Browse our pick of the best for men and women – remember a piece like this always looks cool oversized and layered – and shop the edit below…

The ‘80s are back. Or perhaps they never went away, given the strong trend for brightly-coloured, thigh-skimming swimwear and oversized sunnies we’ve seen just about everywhere this summer.

The runway has been awash with styles inspired by the ‘80s aesthetic too with the likes of Fendi, MSGM and Versace all paying homage to the decade’s design sense.

If you fancy trying the trend for yourself, we have a few pointers for you to avoid looking like you’ve rocked up in fancy dress.

Think bright tones but pair them with tailoring. Take the edge off those sleek silhouettes with chunky sneakers or a pop of statement print.

A healthy dose of sporty styling goes a long way so don’t be afraid to opt for neon accents and go-faster stripes, bomber jackets and sports-luxe separates.

Lastly, botanical prints put a twist on the classic Hawaiian shirt – just be sure to mix and match yours with neutrals or simple stripes to avoid overkill.

Want to try the ‘80s throwback look for yourself? Shop our edit below for all the essentials…

I'm sure this photo resembles every shopping with your boyfriend date.  But I'm here to talk about that bomber jacket.  I love a good red accessory or piece to make any neutral outfit pop and that jacket is right up my alley.  Photo Credit: @manrepeller on twitter #fashion #outfit #ootd #coat

Chinese new year starts today and this weekend in London  like in many parts of the world  there will be a slew of series of colourful events in  and around Chinatown. The carnival of parades, martial arts displays and family experiences will celebrate the year of the Dog. The allure of the oriental trend is nothing new but this year designers really embraced the opulence and exoticism of the far east craze.

Jacquard embroidered bomber jackets, oriental prints, Kyoto garden florals and kimonos were all seen on the catwalks. Just in time to celebrate the Chinese New Year! From top designers Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana to your favourite high street brands Ted Baker, PrettyLittleThing and Stradivarius, we are seeing signs of Shanghai nights everywhere. From dramatic oriental prints on silk, to dragons, tigers, floral embroidery and bags garnished with animalia hardware.

The orient trend offers an amazing way to look astonishingly elegant and glamorous. If you don't necessarily want to stop traffic but still like a touch of the Far East go for one statement piece such as a slinky floral dress, a pair of gold earrings or silk kimono robe.

Indulge in our exclusive edit of our must-have orient-inspired pieces below and shop your favourites!

We're always in a rush as soon as the first images of Haute Couture Fashion Week come in, as the perfect inspiration for the months to come. As well as admiring the creations on the runways this is also where the most elaborate styles come alive in the streets of Paris. It's the best place to witness the early 2018 trends into action from luxe designer bags to decorative coats and prom-like tulle dresses.

There are a few items that we absolutely loved that came up from the streets of Paris. Cat Eye Sunnies Just ask Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid. Kaia appeared on Friday, January 19th with an uber cool model-off-duty look, encompassing a pair of cat-eye glasses, jeans, and a white rollneck. A few days later, Bella appeared in a similar style of sunnies that completed her head-to-toe black leather ensemble.

Colourful Faux Fur

An array of fashion influencers appeared in a beautifully cosy faux fur coats in an impressive variety of colours like deep blues, greens, and ultraviolet including Olivia Palermo's choice.

Tailoring

Male-like androgynous dressing is the uniform of the empowered female. Just like Winnie Harlow as the model did in her tapered black trousers, crisp white blouse and a long cape at the Christian Dior Haute Couture SS18, on Monday, January 22nd.

Floral Embroidered Bombers

These jackets have been appearing everywhere lately so it's no surprise they were front and centre at PFW. Olivia Palermo sported a heart embroidered bomber jacket on her way to the Schiaparelli Haute Couture SS18 show on Monday, January 22nd.

Berets

It wouldn't be Paris Fashion Week without berets. Just ask Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell as they embellished their headgear with black leather berets.

This winter season has been one of our best yet simply because it has defied the normality of winter clothing: such as the dab colour palette of the normcore of yesteryear and instead it's invested in optimism, celebration, sparkles and bold colours. Take the floral bomber jacket for example that shows no signs of going away. Actually, it's one of the biggest trends this winter and one of the best pieces for Spring so believe us when we say it will be a great investment!

That silky, embroidered bomber jacket has been extremely popular mainly due to its versatility. It can be incorporated into any athleisure or sports attire, you can wear it with jeans on your morning commute or with your cute party dress on Saturday night. The fashion pack agrees. From eccentric styles at Gucci to high street offerings that would make any girl jealous.

Just head to our gallery for more inspiration and shop your favourite styles from our expert edit below.
