Ahh block heels! My favourite kind of heels… Not comfortable as flats but not painful as stiletto heels. Block heels are the perfect shoe for any summer party or event. Think about all the times you tried to save your pointy heels from the grass during a party. Or the times you wanted to throw away your heels and walk barefoot. Well if you were wearing block heels you would’ve never had this kind of problem. Especially in mid-heels, this style looks great with anything. Want to spice up your day look? Add some block heels without being scared. Want to wear cute heels to a summer party? Add some block heels and you’re ready to go! #heels #blockheels #style #party #summer #trend #fashion

A cute little pair of heels is a staple in every closet. But there's a first step to every journey, and if you're the girl that needs a little help with working her heels, we got your back. Use these tips and tricks to perfect your strut!

Find the perfect shoe:
The kind of high heels you wear can definitely impact your walk. Start off with a pair of wedges, as those are the easiest on the foot and are less likely to hurt!

You can then slowly graduate to platforms, chunky heels, and stilettos when you're comfortable.

Fix your posture:
Ever noticed how runway models walk with one foot directly in front of the other, and are usually with their backs straight and their hips out? These aren't just moves for show, they're actually tricks used to avoid injury! Try it, you'll instantly see a difference.

Prep yourself:
As with all new shoes, heels take time to break in as well. But you can speed up this process by rubbing a little petroleum jelly on the inner rim of your shoe before putting them on. As you walk, your shoes will begin to loosen up and adapt to your feet. This trick also avoids friction burn and shoe bite.

Practice makes perfect:
We are well aware that the perfect walk doesn't come easy. So the only way to combat this is to work them heels as much as possible! Try wearing your heels around the house on lazy days, and practice walking around your room in front of the mirror. You'll be a pro catwalker in no time!

We believe footwear can really complete an outfit but often times we choose to wear the same day after day for various reasons. Sometimes it's because you're running late and sometimes it's because you can't match different footwear with different outfits. As a result, you end up being a Plain Jane and if a friend makes plans for an evening out, you say no, thinking you're not dressed well enough.

This is where we come in. We believe a gorgeous pair of shoes, if styled properly, can serve as a day and night wear any given day! It doesn't matter what you choose to wear, there's always a pair to go along with. For example, if you want to wear heels but they are too painful, you can choose to wear boots instead! Find some options below that you can invest in so as to not have a boring shoe day everyday.

Boots
Like we said, these are a perfect alternative to heels any given day. You can wear these with skirts, dresses or our fave, distressed denims and crop top for a chic and stylish look. They are quite loved in office too!

Sneakers
If you're think white boring shoes when we say sneakers then you're mistaken. We love our white classic sneakers but what's even better is a modified version of those. Printed, coloured sneakers work best as an alternative to them and are just as comfortable. You can also choose to don platform sneakers if you're going to somewhere fancy tonight!

Brogues
The most comfortable of them are all brogues. Wear them under anything and you'll look stylish and glamourous. What's amazing about these is they also look great with traditional wear!

Sandals
Sandals are as formal as they are stylish. A sandal with platform heels can save you from being plain and provide you with an added oomph factor. They go perfectly well with any kind of outfit including kurtas and salwar kameez. All you need to do is pick your fave from out edit below!

The ladies from the 50's continue to be a huge inspiration to the ladies at the Shopcade HQ. Sure, we love our mini dresses and bell-bottomed trousers, but there's nothing quite as elegant and chic as a dress that covers more than it reveals.

The era saw midis in its heydays, worn both in the form of dresses and skirts paired with sophisticated blouses. Not to mention those fabulous block heels. Well fashion, as you know, goes full circle, and this trend seems to be the word on every fashionista's lip.

We picked out our faces so you can sport midis too!

It is a universal truth that no girl's wardrobe is complete without a couple of pairs of heels, amirite? As they say: give a girl a great pair of heels, and she can conquer the world. But if you're a beginner on the heel scene, it can be a little confusing and overwhelming to pick out a pair to start with. And that's where Shopcade comes in—we're here to tell you about the basic different types of heels out there, so you can pick the perfect pair for yourself from our lists below this article!

Wedges
These are the perfect type of heels for beginners, as they don't require much in the way of balancing yourself. Plus, these usually look pretty casual, so you won't draw much attention to yourself if you're still a little conscious about walking in shoes that aren't flat.

Block heels
Like wedges, these are good for beginners as well, and look super chic. Our favourite kinda block heels are the ones that come with tassels or ruffles!

Stilettos
Stilettos are a classic that never goes out of fashion. Thought challenging to wear, they add an instant oomph factor to any outfit, and make your derriere look sexy AF. Try this kind once you're more comfortable with the idea of wearing heels!

Starring in the June-July 2016 issue of W magazine, model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne can next be seen as the Enchantress in Suicide Squad this August. Speaking to W about getting the role, Cara tells of an unconventional method she used to prepare for her scenes...

"There still wasn't a script, but David asked me to go and try and find a forest and, if it was a full moon, get naked and walk around through the woods with my feet in the mud, which I did," she said. "There wasn't a full moon, but I howled like a wolf. It would have been really funny if someone had seen me."

Styled by Edward Enninful, the W shoot sees Cara modelling AW16 looks by designers such as Balenciaga, Dior, Prada and more. Scroll through our gallery to see the entirety of the shoot and shop below for colourful heels to rock this season!

Block heels haven’t seen the light of day since the ‘60s and they’re back in a big way.

A silhouette that is very bold and unique hasn’t found the right timing to come back but there’s no time like the present. With boyfriend jeans, cropped pants and a-line skirts being huge trends at the moment, why WOULDN’T block heels make a comeback.

Aside from the design factor, I love that there is a comfortable option to dress up a look without injuring your feet. The patent leather, bold prints and play on trims all are what make block heels so amazing. Oh yah, and the block heels of course. Perfect to rock this NYFW, style mix in with comfort, less chance of getting caught slipping, sliding or tripping on the streets- what else can you ask for?

Check out our NYFW worthy block heels selection below!

Wearing nothin' but a pair of Stuart Weitzman heels, Gigi Hadid poses nude with fellow models Lily Aldridge and Joan Smalls in the designer's latest campaign shot by Mario Testino.

The campaign features more of the fashion industry's famous faces stripping off before the lens- this time to show off the "Nearlynude" heeled sandals, the block heeled counterpart to Stuart Weitzman's "Nudist" heels.
