Whether you experience fleeting patches or have endured acne for years, you're likely to have a few battle scars to prove it! Here are a few tips and tricks on how to manage acne and acne scarring...

- The skin is the body's largest organ and therefore it's important to try and treat acne from its source. Scroll through our gallery to view a facial map showing what type of spots pop up where and what issues they're likely a result of.

- It's important to maintain a balanced, healthy diet! Include plenty of fresh vegetables in your daily meals and avoid overdoing it on the junk food front, particularly with food and drinks that are high in sugar such as pop, sweets, chocolate and even fruit juices (always opt for fresh fruit juices with no added sugar).

- DON'T squeeze spots, avoid touching your face for no reason and see what happens when you cool it with the DIY acne treatments. For example, lemon juice helps dry spots but it can also cause irritation and inflammation which may lead to scarring. Depending on the DIY treatment, some individuals have experienced chemical burns.

- Choose a dedicated SPF for your face; Clinique's SPF 35 Targeted Protection Stick and City Block SPF 25 will protect you from sun damage and are suitable for sensitive skin. Additionally, The Body Shop's Aloe Soothing Moisture Lotion SPF 15 and Seaweed Mattifying Moisture Lotion SPF15 boast cooling, anti-inflammatory properties.

- Visibly reducing acne scars without chemical peels, lasers or even subscision takes time and patience, so treat your skin kindly and try over-the-counter treatments like a fading cream. In the meantime, boosting your confidence with gentle corrective make-up never hurts! Just make sure to choose products without harmful additives.

Freckles have been a big beauty trend this year, which has been great because now more products are out there that show off those beautiful dots of concentrated melanin. I mean, faux freckles have been drawn on models on the catwalk this season!

Kylie Jenner is a fan, sharing photo's of her freckles after her birthday trip away. Regardless of whether you like Kylie or not, you can't say that she isn't rocking this beauty look...

What do you do when you want to show of your freckles but hide blemishes? It's a catch 22, but it doesn't have to be anymore. Go for the 'second skin' look, rather than full coverage.

See the edit below for our top products and tips to help you showcase your freckles...

Like it or not, we all need to slather ourselves with a bit of sunscreen to protect against skin cancer. But which SPF is right for you?

If you're very pale, or have family history of skin cancer, you need to grab SPF 50 or above.

If you're prone to acne, look for a gel sunscreen instead of cream, which can exacerbate breakouts.

If you're dark-skinned you're lucky, because melanin provides a little sun protection (SPF 15) so look for 20 or above.

Look for SPF chapstick, shampoo & concealers too in my edit below...

If you're lucky enough to be enjoying a jetset lifestyle for work and/or play, stepping into the cold light of day after a long haul flight can be daunting. With our edits below featuring skincare, haircare and make-up essentials, you needn't disembark with an oversized hoodie or scarf around your face again!

Long Haul Beauty Hacks to master...

1) This won't be the first or last time you hear this but it's imperative to keep hydrated while flying. We're not just talking about stocking up on miniature whisky bottles here or downing as much Evian as you can get your hands on. Use Yes to Cucumbers' Facial Travel Toilettes to clean any muck from your face and dowse your face in Clinique's Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief or the overnight mask from the same range.

2) Unless you're incredibly fortunate, there is little to no chance you'll be showering or washing your hair on board. Keeping your hair in a top knot while flying is ideal as you're less likely to play with your hair/fringe and make it greasy faster. Before disembarking, use Balmain Paris' Dry Shampoo with a touch of its Silk Perfume spray.

3) As for applying make-up, you might wanna get in queue for the lavatory PRIOR to descent when the fasten seatbelt signs flash red! Brighten up your skin with This Works' In Transit Camera Close-Up and apply Clinique's CC or BB cream for all-in-one base coverage. Then proceed to apply YSL's Touche Eclat, some blusher, lipstick and eye make-up.

With the soaring temperatures, fashion is probably taking a backseat. Don’t falter just yet. Here’s a list of skin essentials you ABSOLUTELY shouldn’t step out without. Get your skin game on and fashion shall follow!

1) Load up the SPFs
This one is a no-brainer. Get a good sunscreen, with a super high SPF and preferably a matte finish. Plus, it's the perfect base for whatever needs to go on your face later.

2) Prime Time
Before you put anything—seriously, anything on your face—make sure to use a primer. This closes your pores to any extra damage and gives your skin room to breathe, even with multiple layers of make-up on.

3) Compact Look
Keep your look minimal. Loud colours and darker shades give a warmer touch and definitely tend to cake more. A nice, skin blended compact will keep the sweat at bay and make you seem more put together.

4) Lip Colour
Choose a nice glossy lipstick for your summer look. Nude and light pink shades work best in the sun. Avoid matte shades, because you need some sunshine even on your lips!
