It’s easy to see why the teddy coat has become the cover-up of choice for influencers and editors alike – not only is it incredibly warm, it also looks effortlessly cool with anything.   So, when the temperature drops below freezing and you don’t want to sacrifice your style, you know exactly what piece to invest in. Here’s how to wear autumn’s cosiest coat like a street style star.

Maxi

Spotted on the runway at Giambattista Valli and Max Mara, long teddy coats are the ultimate way to beat the cold – and look super chic while doing it. These styles look best worn with skinny jeans and flat loafers, à la Giorgia Tordini.

Supersized

Hailey Baldwin and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have both been snapped in oversized teddy coats, and we can’t think of a better way to stay warm when the winter weather hits. Layer yours over leather leggings or give it a sporty spin with this season’s chunky sneakers.

Cropped

Shorter styles are just as cosy – influencers Camille Charrière and Jessie Bush are both fans. Choose a camel hue and try pairing yours with high-rise black trousers (extra points for patent styles) and ankle boots.

The underwear as outerwear trend certainly isn’t new. In fact, it’s been around since the ‘80s – see Madonna, Grace Jones et all – however, with temperatures soaring this summer, the lingerie by day trend is starting to sound a whole lot more appealing…

Now, exercise judgement with this one because it may or may not be office appropriate, depending on the vibe in your workplace. Then again, it can definitely be rocked tastefully.

Teaming a lacy camisole or slip dress with a crisp white shirt is a recipe for success and you can dress it up or down with luxe jewelry, smart shoes and cool wide-leg pants.

Alternatively, pair a bralette with a boxy blazer or come the weekend, opt for a slip skirt and a simple logo tee. Our favourite take on this look? The bra over everything. Simply rock your go-to T-shirts and tops and add a cute crop top – opt for a slim-fitting top to avoid bunching.

The lingerie as outerwear trend is certainly nothing new, but there’s one trend that seems to roll back around every single summer. The slinky slip dress is always on-trend and the likes of Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez always seem to be rocking the sexy throwback look.

The great thing about a slip dress is just how versatile it can be. An ivory-toned floor-length slip can make for a wondrous wedding dress, a red slip dress can look amazing on a night out while a black slip worn with a white tee and a pair of sneakers is your ultimate daywear go-to.

When it comes to styling, layering a plain white t-shirt, blouse or statement shirt is not only chic but very practical too. Ideal from the office to the bar or just for brunch with friends, a slip-style dress over cool contemporary layers is an effortless look.

Simply team your slip with a pair of mules, a messy bun and an IT-bag and whatever the occasion, you’re good to go.

If there's one trend that should never go out of style that is comfortable looks. It's essential to any outfit to feel that it moves along with the body and facilitates our lives instead of being constricting and well... a burden. Which is why when pyjamas became an official outerwear trend there must have been a universal sigh of relief heard across the world of women tired of their binding and uncomfortable clothing.

Loungewear worn as everyday clothing became a massive trend including the very popular slip dress, the bralette and corset. But there's something innately brilliant about sporting pyjamas as an outfit because in a way it resembles a more relaxed version of a business suit. Inspired by the 20's and Coco Chanel this trend shows no signs of slowing down and we're completely on board. Opt for a cover-up or a kimono for starters as an outerwear and then don a full head-to-toe pyjama look taking cues from Olivia Palermo, Rihanna, and Gigi Hadid to name a few.

Browse through our gallery for pyjama-specific inspiration and then shop your favourite looks in our exclusive edit below!

Even though we're well into Spring, tweed is still hailing as a grand trend. A few brands have embellished the fabric in lighter hues making it warm-weather appropriate. The rough fabric us especially relevant today April 3rd, as we're celebrating National Tweed Day.

Tweed is naturally waterproof and woollen perfect for that country house attire. But it's much more than traditional countryside style staples, it has evolved into an item of everyday attire. Blended with long paisley dresses or chunky knits, tweed is your go-to item that combines British heritage and modern flair.

The Harris Tweed coat by Adam Lippes referencing Scotland is having a major moment. He crafted a series of beautiful grey tweed finished with an overlay of lace.

It was tweed in general that made its way across New York Fashion Week. Alexander Wang utilised a blush pink teddy bear material. Raf Simons at  Calvin Klein focused on oversized dreary old man tweed coats worn over floor-skimming dresses. The Olsen twins referenced a school-girl look cut in long pleated skirts and matching long jackets.

Tweed is not meant solely for the Autumn/ Winter period. The tweed jacket is the perfect transitional piece for Spring. The season that bridges the gap between two temperatures presents some sartorial challenges especially when it comes to outerwear. Pair your tweed jacket with equally adept to traditional weather clothing such as a leather skirt, leather boots, or a cardigan knit. Wear your tweed coat with a long flowy dress and a pair of boots. The breathable material allows you to stay as warm or breezy as you like according to the weather's tantrums.

Finally, sport your tweed trousers with a cropped top and a leather jacket to keep the warm/ chilly equilibrium to the desired status. Are you ready to incorporate tweed into your everyday attire?

Transitional weather periods require transitional wardrobe. And one of the transitional weather absolute favourite staples is the trench coat. From royal, Kate Middleton to reality star Kim Kardashian West and blogger/ journalist Pandora Sykes (you are seeing the expansion of the fashion spectrum here, right?) are opting for multiple variations of the trench coat. Whether you choose the Bottega Veneta one that Lauren Bacall wore in the SS18 show or the uber trendy winter floral print at Michael Kors, this piece is bound to add more than a few points of elegance to your look.

There's great variety in form but most importantly in the fabric. High gloss details or full on shiny leather trenches. Tightly cinched or left in a looser silhouette. One of the most spot on colours for trench coats this season is khaki, but get ready for some impressive numbers in red, off-white, camel and baby blue.

The allure of wearing lingerie as outerwear is nothing new, but as we transcend into Spring the most popular trend of last season is emerging yet again: the Spring slip dress. Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez welcomed the sexy throwback trend from the 90s without fail. Likewise, in the 1990’s Andy McDowell, Rachel from Friends and pretty much every starlette of the time sported this very easy to incorporate trend. Its popularity stems from its versatile nature.

An ivory floor length slip can make for a wondrous wedding dress, a red slip dress can look amazing on a night out while a black slip worn with a white tee and a pair of sneakers is your ultimate daywear go-to!

When it comes to styling layering a piece of fabric (plain white t-shirt, blouse, shirt) is not only chic but very practical too. It's one thing having a strap fall when worn as lingerie at home it's quite another if that happens while working or commuting crammed in the tube. That multitasking white t-shirt lets the slip stay in place whilst providing cover.

For that extra piece of layer wear it over a slogan hoodie that will elevate your style know-how while keeping you warm at the same time.

Have a look at out exclusive edit of all the slip styles you need to own this season!

Nanushka was born in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, more than a decade ago, but is finally getting under the spotlight. If you spend your days cruising on Instagram, you definitely saw the brand's design: maybe a dress, a coat... fashionistas love it! From Song of Style to NYC Bambi, without forgetting the French it-girl Caroline de Maigret, they all wear Nanushka.

It's hard not to fall for its amazing outerwear, their famous lilac wrap dress.

We had the chance to meet Sandra Sandor, the designer behind the brand, during Paris Fashion Week, for an exclusive interview, to chat about the story of the brand and what we should expect in the future.

Shopcade: What brought you to fashion ?

Sandra: Actually, it was a given way for me because my mother was a children's wear designer in the 70s prior to the fall of the Iron Curtain. Dressing was always a very important self-expression form for me. I wasn't sure that I wanted to become a designer until the age of 17. Then, I thought that I really want to try to study fashion design and it was very interesting because you know, in Hungary, there is no history in fashion and there aren't many fashion schools. I really wanted to study fashion somewhere where it was very relevant.

After studying in the London College of Fashion, I went back to Budapest were Nanushka began, back in 2006.

How do you define Nanushka's style?

S: We usually think of ourselves as a bridge between intuitive and functional design. The clothes that we will keep loving and will become our wardrobe staples are those in which we really feel comfortable in as well. So, we try to execute this also in the design from the choice of fabric. We try to make everything washable. Nothing gets very wrinkly. It's comfortable wear for every season and good for both seasons. Of course, we do have fur coats for winter, but it has a soft feel.

I don't think trends are ad-hoc things they reflect our surroundings and the people around us. Nanushka, from a design perspective is trying to be relevant for the era we live in.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

S: My main source of inspiration as a designer it to try to create harmony, while mixing very distant cultural references, like Western with Oriental or Far Eastern. Actually, these two have been permeating through our collections. Sometimes even for three seasons, we kind of have a theme that carries over and we maybe add an extra inspiration. As a designer, I don't want to jump in too quickly.

The next season is already coming, but I like to keep the inspiration flowing for longer. Mixing the Wild Western boots with Far Eastern culture has been going since Resort 18, carried over to our SS18. For Pre-Fall 18/19, we added 90s Berlin colors and silhouettes, as well as vegan leathers.

Also, as a general inspiration, the traveling state of mind really inspires me. When you travel, you're very receptive, very open and almost like a child state of mind, and comfort becomes essential.

How do you want women to feel when they wear your clothes?

S: I really want them to feel confident, easy, effortless.

Called the label to watch by fashionistas, how do you feel about social media ?

S: Social media really helped us grow. We kind of think of ourselves as a lifestyle brand. We try to make our social media platform a moodboard of our brand and also a source of inspiration. Influencers is our secret in a way. We never pay for partnerships, but we work with influencers who represent our brand values. I think it's important for a brand to give to the right people, no with the biggest followers, because their followers are similar to ours.

What's your favorite piece from the current collection ?

S: From the SS18, our tiger-inspired print made with watercolor painting, and digitally printed on fabric fabric is my favorite. We made a pair of long pants from it called Nevada pants, inspired by pyjama pants from Coco Chanel in the 30s or 40s. She was the first woman to wear pyjama pants as a daily wear I think.

What should we expect for the future collections ?

S: The values and clashing cultures as a source of inspiration will definitely remain, I think it's important to highlight where I come from. Hungary has always been an intersection of East and West. The German Empire had a big effect on us, as well as Turkish culture and the Parisian Belle Epoque.

At the turn of the century, travel was open for everyone. Hungarians and artists came to Paris to get some inspiration and change their values etc. So, when you come to Budapest, you'll find a Turkish bath on one side of the street, next to Brutalist buildings on the other side. So it's a mix of cultures.

But going back to how I imagine my future collections, I think we're going to develop, while our core brand values and sources of inspiration remain. And spice it up with the season's trends. A good balance.

If you had to pick only one piece you created, which one would it be?

S: Hard question! But I love outerwear and our brand is really known for that. So I would probably pick a coat, specifically a robe coat.

What are your do's and don'ts when it comes to fashion ?

S: I don't really believe in do's and don'ts. I think you can get away with anything if you put it in the right context.

What is the must-have of every outfit?

S: The right pair of shoes, they define the whole outfit in the end. But I could also say that a good pair of jeans is a must.
