Véronique Forge-Karibian Founder of the French platform for female entrepreneurs, Business O Feminin, lets us in on her secrets to a healthy work/life balance, her go-to brands and how to succeed as a woman in business... 

Why did you create Business O Feminin? 

I had the chance to work on a show about women called Women of Exception for several years in which I interviewed women with like Christine Lagarde and Simone Veil but also business minds like Mathilde Thomas of Caudalie and artists like Dee Bridgewater. 

What fascinates me about all these women is their path in life, their thread and the entanglement of the circumstances that helped them find their way. Through Businessofeminin.com, I wanted to give all women the ability to fulfil their professional potential and develop their full personal potential. 

How do you juggle your personal life and your career? 

I am fortunate to have help with my two children who are still young. I also try to spare some time for myself – I lived in London for nine years and in that time I started playing a lot of sports, which I still love to do. In the mornings I have my rituals and begin the day by using the Calm app to meditate. It’s a great little app that helps teach a life-changing practice. 

What are the pieces in your wardrobe that make you feel most confident? 

I like to feel comfortable in my clothes and not be too overdressed. I'm pretty keen on suede jackets, especially from the brand Van Palma. I wear them with jeans by Closed or leather pants by Fête Impérial. I’m also a hat person and I love Estrée for these. 

What essentials do you always carry with you? 

I always carry a pouch that turns into an evening bag in my handbag and in terms of other essentials I really like Clio Goldbrenner's new chic and practical collection. As for beauty, I carry a survival kit comprised of Mademoiselle Saint Germain's eye cream with cucumber, Glossier's pink blush and my favourite, By Terry's rose balm for my lips. 

Long days at the office can take its toll on your skin. Tell us about your skincare routine…

Always remove make up before bed, apply a mask twice a week and stay hydrated. This season I’ve been road testing a cream by Raw Material and a pomegranate serum from Wisdom Cares. I also do a deep skin cleanse every month to maintain a healthy glow. 

Who inspires you? 

I have a lot of admiration for Arianna Huffington, the founder of the Huffington Post, whom I had the chance to meet in London. She is extremely intelligent, cultured and visionary and the proof is in her new project, Thrive Global, a media platform geared towards personal development. She has drawn on her own experiences of burn out in order to help people take a step back and enjoy the multiple aspects of their lives. 

What would you say is the secret recipe for becoming an accomplished businessperson? 
 
Finding a balance between personal and professional life and always saving a little time for yourself. Before you start, meet other entrepreneurs to exchange experiences, ideas and insights and join existing communities, like the Business O Feminine Club. We organise monthly meetings with entrepreneurs, coaches and leaders to share knowledge and give women the tools they need to succeed. 

What is your favourite motivational quote? 

I have two… "They did not know it was impossible, so they did it" – Mark Twain. "Well behaved women rarely make history." – Eleonor Roosevelt.

COS has long been a style set staple – from Bauhaus-inspired accessories to impossibly soft cashmere essentials and ultra-cool oversized silhouettes, the brand’s designs always hit the sweet spot between effortless cool and minimalist elegance.   


There’s a lot to be said for the COS approach to gendered dressing too. It’s styles are androgynous, oversized or tailored to perfection – ideal for back to school season and lazy girl office attire.   

Now that fall has arrived we’ve been keeping our eyes peeled for simple staples to make layering up that little bit easier. Naturally, COS is our go-to for this.   

The brand’s Fall/Winter18 collection blends cool neutral tones with textural wool, felt and leather while sticking to those modernist silhouettes we all know and love.   

Drawing inspiration from the shapes found where architecture meets the forest and sea, the collection was shot by photographer VIVIANE SASSEN. Textural contrasts give the impression of rough industrial surfaces juxtaposed with fluid natural lines.    

Black silk is the hero of the collection with dresses, pants, blouses and jackets taking centre stage. The beauty of these pieces is of course that they can be layered with just about anything for work, the weekend and beyond.

The UK’s favourite cult beauty brand has just dropped a range of new products for AW18 and we’ve got the low-down on every product you need to know about…  


The newly-launched collection includes the long-awaited and ever-iconic Charlotte Tilbury Advent Calendar. This year’s is as glitzy as they come, embellished with sparkles and packed with beauty treats.   

Priced as last year’s was at £150, the Charlotte’s Beauty Universe Advent Calendar is a beauty buff’s dream and well worth the spend with 12 full-size products inside its beautiful doors and drawers.   

The biggest surprise, however, is the new Stars In Your Eyes palette comprised of 12 shimmering tones created to complement any and all skin tones that range from ‘happy eyes’ to ‘power eyes’.

It’s not often we get to honour a design legend in his lifetime but this year attendees at New York Fashion week witnessed a huge anniversary show celebrating 50 years of Ralph Lauren.   


Since 1967 Ralph Lauren has shaped the fashion landscape with its all-American aesthetic and relatable collections for women, men, children and home. Ralph Lauren fragrances have become a staple synonymous with no-frills luxury and the iconic Polo collection is instantly recognisable the world over.    

A star-studded audience with attendees including Oprah paid homage to the great designer at the NYFW show. “Ralph is the holy grail.” Said Alexander Wang. “Whether he’s selling a suit, a paint colour, or a hamburger, he is always designing a dream.”  

Commemorative coffee table books containing never-before-seen photographs and the story of the Ralph Lauren brand as told by the designer himself have been released and we’re celebrating 50 years of an icon with our favourite picks from the Ralph Lauren collections.

London is known for being the most experimental of all of the Fashion Week cities – with so many up-and-coming designers on the schedule, there’s always a collection to suit every style. Now that autumn is upon us, we’ve rounded up the top trends we spotted at LFW that you’re about to see everywhere...  


Corduroy   

Meet the most unexpected trend of the season: Roland Mouret, Erdem and Emilia Wickstead gave corduroy a whole new look with pretty shades and feminine silhouettes – try a midi skirt or flared trousers to take it into the evening. 

Sequins   

Sequinned pieces for party season may not sound groundbreaking, but the LFW runways were awash with shimmering designs. Look to Temperley London, Halpern and Toga for inspiration, and try an ‘80s-inspired shape to tick off two trends in one.   

Tartan

Checks were all over the AW18 runways, but London’s had a punk feel to them. Simone Rocha and House of Holland both showed head-to-toe tartan looks, and we predict you’re about to see a whole lot more of them on your favourite influencers.   

Rainbow stripes   

Christopher Bailey’s final collection for Burberry was a tribute to PRIDE, but it wasn’t the only show that was dominated by rainbow hues – Ashish and Osman also presented bold multicolored pieces, from striped trousers to embellished dresses.   

Blanket coats

Perhaps the most practical trend for autumn, blanket dressing was a key theme throughout the London shows. From Rokanda’s checked wraps to Delpozo’s furry asymmetric styles, these cosy cover-ups will be the coolest way to stay warm this winter.
