Leopard print: the undeniable hero of the summer. We saw it everywhere from skirts and sneakers to art prints and luxe lingerie…

A bold, unapologetic staple with its roots in fancy ‘50s skirt suits, disco flares, statement ‘80s style and the grunge aesthetic of the ‘90s, animal print is back with a bang.

What’s more it doesn’t look to be departing any time soon. Zebra prints, faux snakeskin, cheetah spots and tiger-inspired stripes are the order of autumn.

If ever there were an impulse buy to get on board with, it’s this collection of statement prints so we’ve rounded up the best pieces to invest in, whatever your budget.

There’s no doubt that sneakers have ruled the runway and the street for several seasons now – and thankfully, they’re not going anywhere. From the ‘dad’ sneaker trend kicked off by Balenciaga to minimalist styles and iconic ‘90s classics, every influencer has traded in their heels for a super comfy pair.

Need proof? All you need to do is check Instagram. This year, sneakers dominated our feeds more than ever before: search for #yeezy350 or #airmax90 and you’ll be met with millions of posts. Here are the most popular sneakers to add to your collection.

The throwbacks

If you prefer your sneakers with an old-school feel, the Nike Air Max 97 is your best bet. Loved by everyone from Bella Hadid to Drake, they’ll add a ‘90s edge to any look. The Adidas Superstar is another retro favorite that will only get cooler with time.

Supersize soles

Balenciaga’s Speed sneakers took over the street style circuit last season, and now its chunky Triple S style is selling out fast. But don’t worry – almost every label has platform-soled sneakers to choose from.

Skate icons

J.W. Anderson’s collaboration with Converse has reaffirmed everyone’s love for Chuck Taylors, and Vans Old Skools are still the go-to option for laid-back LA style. Trust us, you’ll wear them forever.

If you’re the sort of person who’d rather rock a pared-down tote and tee than an IT-bag and a sweater with logos plastered all over it, just hear us out…

While we’re not making a case for logo overkill, there are some pretty chic ways to rock a designer logo – see ‘90s-inspired Calvin Klein tees and iconic Gucci bags.

Plus, plenty of our favourite brands have put a contemporary twist on the trend too – see Off-WhiteTM and Moschino.

The phrase ‘less is more’ is a good one to bear in mind here so consider pairing your bold logo-adorned pieces with neutral separates for the weekend and smart tailoring for on-duty.

Want to try the effortlessly cool logo look for yourself? Browse our edit below and shop our favourite pieces from the likes of Balenciaga, Karl Lagerfeld and Givenchy…

Carrie Bradshaw called it ugly. Fashion called it ugly… Until now! After Alexander Wang’s fashion show last season, scunchies have made a comback from the 80s and 90s. If you’re looking for new hair accessories try out your childhood favourite; scrunchies. #scrunchies #style #fashion #retro #trend

We have it on good authority that the ninties never went out of style. In fact, everyone from Bella Hadid to our favourite fashion bloggers has rocked a classic pair of adidas trainers or an oversized sporty tee with mini frames of late.

One of the easiest ‘90s trends to channel, the sports luxe look pays homage to the likes of TLC, sporty spice and the off-duty style of powerhouses like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

Enduringly cool, comfortable and surprisingly sleek, here’s how to work the look while still looking chic and polished…

Balance it

Unless it’s freezing out and you’ve got a killer handbag, avoid the full tracksuit. Instead opt for a pair of relaxed joggers and a cropped T-shirt or a zip-down jacket with vintage-style logo detailing with cool shorts or a mini skirt.

Accessorise

This look is all about accessories so whether you go for tinted shades, hoop earrings or a statement belt bag, forget the less is more rule and layer up – otherwise you might be mistaken for somebody on their way to the gym.

Outside the box

Make the trend your own by teaming sporty trainers with a logo tee and a denim jacket or team a cute sports bra with a blazer. Knot your T-shirt, opt for statement socks and have a little fun with mixing and matching.

The belt bag is one of those trends that shouldn’t work but really does. Those infamous styles by Gucci and Miu Miu dominated Instagram last year and put hands-free accessories back on the map…

The ‘90s feels quickly took over the street style game with designers including Versace, Pucci, JW Anderson and Marc Jacobs creating iterations of the fanny pack and soon enough, luxe-looking affordable options were out in force too.

We decided to road test both designer and affordable belt bags to find out whether a Gucci bag is really worth the investment, or whether it’s better to save…

SPEND

Belt bags are not going anywhere so this will be an investment you'll enjoy for many years to come. Whether it's winter, fall or in the middle of summer you know you can wear this bag with anything in closet. The versatility is strong with this one.

Furthermore, an investment piece from the likes of Gucci or Prada is always a good idea because these babies last forever. The quality of a designer handbag is what makes it so timeless.

Our final reason for loving the high-end options? They’re all a little different. A Gucci Marmot is a Gucci Marmot but there so many iterations to choose from. Opt for embellished styles, a touch or velvet or classic quilting to match your wardrobe and your personality. There’s just something so great about feeling original.

SAVE

No matter how amazing the product is, it’s great to have options. Plus, with this accessory fixed to your waist, other people are far less likely to notice its lack of designer logo. This is an excuse to double up and opt for a few different colors and styles.

Why choose one bag when you can invest in three or four? Go for a heart-shaped version for date night, a boxy style for the weekend and a cool embellished piece for festival season and your summer vacations.

Sure these pieces might not stand the test of time in the same way as a designer belt bag, but you can be certain you’ll have a style for every occasion and no one will be any the wiser.

Another example of the '90s are infiltrating fashion: wide-leg jeans or raver pants are reappearing. They are still not as giant as those used in the '90s but are wide enough to present themselves as a significant change from the skinny jeans. Credits: Pinterest.

This season leopard print has become more day-to-day than statement. The days of wearing it with frugality are long gone. This year, maximalism reigns...

Leopard print has been associated with Christian Dior in the ‘50s rockstar glam in the ‘60s and a ‘70s and ‘80s staple with David Bowie and Debbie Harry making it an essential element of their trademark looks. In the ‘90s grunge Kurt Cobain Courtney Love and Kate Moss reinstated its killer style value. How to wear animal print? Take a few tips from the style aficionados and rock leopard print day or night.

Leandra Medine of Man Repeller goes for a double leopard-print number,  juxtaposed with red strappy heels. Olivia Palermo clashes leopard and check while Alexa Chung keeps it sweet by adding just a few leopard print accessories here and there; from a cross-body chain bag and sandals to a headband.

Street style has also gifted us many variations on the leopard trend: from pochettes to mules, jackets, shirts or leggings, animal print has proven itself as one of the most fun ways to be fashionable this season.

Need more proof? Check out the street style snaps in our gallery and keep scrolling for our Editors' picks of pieces to shop now...

In case you missed it, the madness for the logos is more significant than ever, guided by the same logos that we liked in the '90s and early' 00s. Credits: Pinterest
