Sometimes the simplest trends are the best ones. Let’s be honest, on those days when you’ve ‘nothing to wear’ you can’t do much better than black jeans, a white shirt and a blazer. Sometimes less is more and that’s certainly the case with this summer’s hottest footwear trend…

Pool slides hit the runway a few seasons back and now they’re everywhere. We’ve seen classic monochrome iterations from Givenchy, studded slides from Chloé and our bejewelled designs in colourful satin by Miu Miu.

The high street also has an impressive line-up on offer – from Zara and Topshop to Mango, you’ll find pool slides at every turn. Now, the slide silhouette is simple and ridiculously easy to wear, meaning you can amp things up a little with the design.

We love knotted and embellished styles, metallics to give those all-white summer looks a lift and neon for summer festival ensembles with denim cut-offs and glitter. Try satin, faux shearling or gingham for a cool textural look, or go super simple in a vacay-ready rubber pair.

Having great style doesn’t necessarily mean you should be decked out head to toe in labels. In fact, women with great style rarely opt for conspicuous logos. Mixing high street and designer is an art and so is knowing when to splurge and when to save.

Looking amazing doesn’t cost the earth and our Editors are big fans of affordable brands, especially when they roll out a decent designer dupe or two. We asked them for their tips on how to elevate an outfit, the best designer pieces to invest in and how they make their line-ups look that little bit more polished…

Never underestimate the power of accessories

Can’t afford a designer handbag but can justify that silk scarf? Let’s not forget bag charms and clip-on shoulder straps by the likes of Coach, Fendi, Valentino and Prada. Maximalise your tote’s power to shine with a few high-end additions here and there.

The same goes for your outfit. Tie that silk scarf around your neck, rock a Chanel brooch on your high-street denim jacket and rock expensive jewellery with every look. Jewellery is one of the things worth investing in – you’ll never grow out of it and higher quality pieces will last forever. Plus, most styles are timeless.

Sunglasses are your best friend when trying to achieve that super-polished look and most frames look pretty high-end whether they’re marked with a logo or not.

Do look for convincing designer dupes

From Mango to Zara and even online exclusive brands like Chi Chi, a ton of affordable labels offer great designer dupes. So, if you can’t splash out on runway-fresh styles, rest assured you’ll be able to find a convincing imitation that suits your budget.

We love floral maxi dresses for summer days, chunky buckle belts for off duty, guipure lace for all our big events and cool boxy and boho bags; there are so to choose from this season and all at a pretty reasonable price point.

Buy clothes that fit – tailoring is everything

The most important thing to remember when trying to look chic is that you should be wearing your clothes, they shouldn’t be wearing you. The cut of an outfit makes all the difference so invest in pieces that fit you perfectly and get the ones you really care about tailored. Every woman should have at least one well-fitting jacket, dress and pair of trousers in her line-up.

Dare we say it? We love a high street wedding dress, especially as there’s no longer any shame in buying one. The high street has stepped up its game in recent years and offers a wide array of incredibly chic wedding dresses. That's one thing you can cross of your wedding prep list. Believe it or not, celebs are also jumping on the high street bandwagon.

Take Emily Ratakowski's bold mustard jumpsuit by Zara for example. So many affordable brands are stocking amazing wedding dresses to suit every silhouette and style and ASOS is one of our favourite places to look. With a curated selection of gowns starting at $55, their stellar bridal collection followed on the success of the cult bridesmaid selection.

Browse and discover beautifully-crafted gowns from Needle & Thread, TFNC and the ASOS own brand. Choose from silk, detailed lace, one shoulder, strapless or backless styles. You’ll find body-con and boho options and a departure from traditional white with baby blue, to lilac and soft mint on offer.

For a more traditional approach, why not head to Dorothy Perkins for subtly shimmering lace details? The new bridal collection offers figure-skimming cuts and fluted skirts that exude elegance.

The scrunchie bag. First, we saw this trend with the Circle Bag of The Row and, shortly after, other brands like Zara, Staud and Loewe did the same. His name comes from his entertaining style, concentrated in the centre and retro airs.Credits: Pinterest

Pastel power suits are the latest IT-trend to emerge from the streets. This unpredictable Miami Vice-inspired craze started during Fashion Month and quickly spread into our everyday wardrobes.

Pale greens, tender blues, dainty violets and sweet lemon are contesting traditional black and grey suits. Pastel hues, are taking over this spring both on the high street – think Mango and Zara but also the high end, with some incredible offerings from Tibi and Vetements.

How to wear a pastel suit?

Ice-cream chic tones can be paired with monochrome or clashed with other pastel shades in an array of styles; pinstripes, corduroy or knits, just take your pick.

A pastel suit also looks striking when styled with white accessories. Add a pair of white booties, an oversized white tote or a white jacket and elevate your mint power suit. Or why not go bolder and pair a lemon overcoat with a lilac suit and white sneakers.

Take Janette Madsen's Scandi-chic approach and mix tailored pastel pieces – imagine a lemon-yellow pants with a blush-pink sweater and blazer, pastel perfection.

Editor’s Tip: Don't be afraid to mix your pastel-hued wardrobe with shimmering metallics for a stand-out evening look.

Are you ready to rock the pastel power suit this season? Head to our gallery for inspiration and shop your favourite looks from our edit below…

There are always several bags on my wish list, I'm sure this comes as no surprise, and ASOS is always top of my list - maybe just after Zara. I spotted this whilst scrolling through ASOS's new in pieces today and I have to have it. This is the perfect summer bag. I wear a lot of white and pastel colours in summer so white is an ideal colour to throw on with any outfit. I love the boxy shape and the chain is a great statement addition. Image: ASOS

With Spring finally gracing us with some appropriate temperatures it's time to bring out one of our favourite 2018 footwear trends: the mules. Even though a few street stylers have been donning the trend even during the winter months paired with socks or fishnet stockings now it's the time for the more hesitant of the bunch to sport it sans socks too.

The high end such as Saint Laurent Mansur Gavriel, Chloé, Saks, Bloomingdale's and Balenciaga are offering beautiful creations in an array of silhouettes and colour hues. However, there are many high street brands serving equally eye-pleasing styles from Zara, to Topshop, Nasty Gal and Boohoo that your pocket will thank you for.

If this is your first attempt into sporting mules opt for the sock free option and style it with a pair of cropped jeans, that will show off your shoe choice and elongate your legs at the same time. Finish your look with a rainbow-patterned tee (very on trend for this Spring/ Summer season) a light denim jacket and a plastic accessory such as a handbag or hat.

For an evening look pair your mules with a frilly long spring dress, a discreet clutch and a blanket scarf. Put your hair up in a messy bun add a bold lip and add long chandelier earrings to accentuate your look.

Whatever your choice, mules are extremely versatile so you can style them with ease with items that are already hanging in your closet.

Breathing life into Spring the suiting trend is evolving and blooming to fit our needs and feed our street style inspiration. Alexa Chung, Leandra Medine and Pandora Sykes have been sporting the horse-embroidered suit from Natasha Ramsay Levi's SS18 collection for Chloe.Stella McCartney to Victoria Beckham have also been adopting the suiting trend that was already cemented last season.

Inspired by power women especially Hillary Rodham Clinton the pantsuit has made a serious comeback which is now more evident than ever. Cate Blanchett, Diane Keaton and Chloe Sevigny are among the stars donning the power suit on a regular basis. But they aren't alone. Top models, fashion editors, street stylers and influencers are heralding this international uniform. We absolutely love how this suit trend can be translated into many variations.

From checks to black sleek suits on Helena Christensen and Candice Swanepoel to the ultimate classic Annie Hall on Diane Keaton and her major influence on the Ralph Lauren brand. Emily Ratakojwski was married in a mustard pantsuit from Zara while Meghan Markle's white version turned many heads.

Want to adopt the pantsuit look this Spring? Browse through our exclusive suit edit below!

Despite the fact that it is still forecast to snow it is nearly April which means I am ready to buy my spring wardrobe, literally come rain or shine. ASOS has always been my first go to along with the likes of Zara and Mango. As always I need a new bag and I've had my eye on this Aldo cross body bag for a while. Happy Mother's Day! To celebrate the day, we recently caught up with new mummy and fashion blogger Vaida. She is the author of the blog Fashion Addicted and the Instagram account @fashionbyvaida, where she documents her adventures in fashion, beauty travelling and of course parenting. Read her interview below and find out the best Mother's Day gifts she suggests on her exclusive list below.

What compelled you to start your own fashion & lifestyle blog?

I started my fashion career as a model but it just wasn’t for me.  Despite that I still was into fashion very much. After constantly being approached by girls and asked where I bought one or another item I decided to create fashion blog and share all my outfit details there.

What do you enjoy most about the creative process?

Even it’s hard work I enjoy every bit of it. From creating an outfit to posting it on the blog/Instagram and all the bits in between: looking for beautiful spots to shoot, posing or creating a flatlay, taking pictures, editing them. And the most enjoyable thing is to get positive reactions from my readers.

What are the challenges and also the benefits of being a freelance content creator and influencer especially being a new mum?

I love being independent, I can work cosily on my sofa watching my baby playing around. I think that’s the best thing. However being a mum and freelancing has cons too. I am limited to attend various events and sometimes plans can be changed because of my babies needs.

What are your non-negotiables regarding your wellness routine?

Having a bath with lot’s of bubbles, candles and relaxing music on Sundays is my best wellness time.

How would you describe your personal style? Can you give us an example by styling your go-to outfit featuring your favourite brands?

In one word I would say it’s elegant. I usually choose classic pieces. Mango white suit with Gucci handbag and Zara heels.

What are your new mum lifesaver products that you can't live without?

Mama Mio products are wonderful for both mums to be and new mums.

You're always travelling. Which one of your recent destinations was the most memorable to you and why?

Probably the best memories are from Mauritius (we got married there) and Thailand. Everything is so different there, nature is mesmerising, people are relaxed and the food is super delicious.

What are you working on at the moment? Do you have any specific goals for this year?

I have Build a Bear project coming up. I am going with my boy to Build a Bear workshop to create Easter bunny. I am sure we will have a lot of fun. I have also few beauty and fashion projects coming up soon so keep your eyes peeled and follow my blog Fashion Addicted and Instagram account @fashionbyvaida

Following on Amy Schumer’s surprise wedding last week, it was Emily Ratajkowski who unexpectedly tied the knot this week. According to her Instagram account, she marries at a City Hall in New York City on Friday. Her feed was filled with a series of photos revealing the news, and a shared photo with engagement emojis.

Even more surprising than her nuptials was her unexpected choice of bridal wear. The model, went for a Zara Long Belted Jacket and Flared trousers in a dark mustard hue, and completed the look with a black fedora hat and gold jewellery.

Even though a City Hall wedding does not dictate a conventional white gown, we  were pleasantly surprised by her sartorially bold move. Ratajkowski married actor - producer Sebastian Bear McClard. The brief wedding ceremony  featured Instagram star Fat Jewish as a witness.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Denim has historically been one of the most flattering fabrics for both men and women. Its unique versatility factor puts it front and centre for the high street and the high end. The level of creativity for 2018 is uncompromising and can range from a pile of patches acting as jeans to exaggerated forms that can be styled in completely unexpected ways. Look out for lots of cutouts, embroidery, patches and variety in hemlines in our top picks below!

CUTOUTS
#262626">
#262626">Take your cues from Kendall Jenner by styling a cut-out midi denim skirt with a silk spaghetti strap top. Finish the look with a vintage pair of 90s inspired sunnies and an equally grungy pair of mules for an edgier outfit.

MODEL OFF DUTY JEANS
#262626">
#262626">Super tight skinny jeans have morphed into straight cut styles that are comfier and define the silhouette without being constraining. Gigi Hadid and sister Bella were spotted sporting a more laid-back option: layers of denim. To achieve Gigi’s London Fashion Week off-duty look, the model layered chambray and yellow plaid button-downs with a long, frayed denim vest, then stunned with white and light blue layered, cropped jeans.

STEP HEM

If you really want to nail the 2018 denim look then look no further than the step hem, which shows no signs of stopping since last season. You can thank Vetements for the much needed innovative twist! #262626">If you don't have the Vetements budget, why don't you DIY and give one of your pairs a makeover by staggering the edges.Look below for other affordable options. The great thing about the step hem is that you can style it as you please while showing off your shoe.

TRIPLE DENIM

Canadian tuxedo has many retro connotations that range #262626">from Dolly Parton to Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears circa 2001.Nowadays you can triple or quadruple your denim by wearing contrasting shades or denim thickness. Play with proportions and juxtaposing materials for the most impressive results.

FRINGING

For the past three years, tassels and fringes have been put front and centre everywhere from Zara to Anthropologie, without any signs of abandoning the limelight. #262626">The trend's evolved so you don't have to stick to your frayed jeans necessarily. Pick up a fringed mini skirt with fringes, a distressed denim jacket or opt for a pair of uber cool denim sandals finished with tassels. One of our favourites is a distressed denim blouse with a frayed hem courtesy of Marques’ Almeida.

EMBROIDERED

The obvious option here is springtime florals. From rock n roll roses to funky pineapples even quotes make for a super stylish way to decorate your favourite pair of jeans this summer.

PATCHWORK

You can try clashing similar blue tonal panels or play with different sizing by assembling large squares with minuscule patches on the jeans taking cues from Eva Chen and Kendall Jenner. Experiment with positioning pockets in unexpected places or colours. If DIY is not your calling, don't worry. Just browse through our selected edit of denim items and shop your favourite items now!

Statement earrings are IN. They are the 'It' accessory of the moment and everyone is selling them. My favourites so far have been spotted dangling in #Zara and #Mango and on #ASOS (above - image from their website). Tassels are a need for these types of earrings but I am loving the pom pom addition too. They're cute and fun and can completely dress up an outfit.

Some trends grow symbiotically. Take peanut butter and jelly, or a cinched waist and statement sleeves. Ever since the waist became defined the shoulders and arms became big, puffy and oversized to exaggerate the silhouette. The statement sleeve has taken centre stage both on the catwalk and on our Instagram feeds. Early adopters include Leandra Medine sporting Rosie Assoulin's signature oversized sleeve tops.

This season the trend expanded to the masses, from balloon to billowing and bell-shaped the impressive sleeves this year a offered in great variety to suit all tastes and arm sizes. For an uber romantic aesthetic head over to Roksanda Ilincic who presented elegant feminine dresses embellished with aethereal bell sleeves. Ellery focused on length rather than volume while Balenciaga and Jacquemus showed exaggerated 80's puffer sleeves. Over at Gucci, Anna Sui and Simone Rocha the interpretation was dramatic balloon sleeves. Thankfully we can now find most of these styles from high street brands like Zara Topshop and Mango without breaking the bank.

Although a summer trend the statement sleeve is an absolute winner for this season. It can instantly lift any old boring wardrobe item by giving it depth and volume. It also is quite cleverly elongating and thus complementary for any figure. So unless you're prone to dip your sleeves into your dinner - statement sleeve tops and dresses will be one of your favourite purchases of the year!

Check out our exclusive edit of the best statement sleeve items on the market this season!
