Description

Chatham, Kent:: Guess in what area of racing a lot of top Formula 1 drivers (including Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button) first got into? Now it is you who will be behind the wheel of a RT8 390 cc kart, which reaches speeds of up to 70 mph. Start off with a safety briefing, followed by five minutes of practice laps each to get used to the karts and the full outdoor international circuit. Then pit your combined driving skills against the other duos in an hour long endurance race. Each race for 30 minutes - teamwork is essential as it is the combined position of both drivers' races that decides each team's final overall position. Every driver receives printed lap times and there is a trophy presentation for the top three teams. Availability: One Saturday evening per month. Weather: Racing might be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions (i.e. ice or snow) which would make driving at high speed dangerous. The venue make contact if the experience is cancelled. Unused laps are credited for another visit. Duration: The event lasts for three to four hours, with 30 minutes driving time each. Safety rules dictate that if the initial briefing is missed, you cannot take part so please don't be late. Numbers On Day: Each team is made up of two drivers (driving separately). Up to 70 drivers take part and a maximum of 35 karts are on the circuit at any one time. Spectators: Spectators are welcome. The venue has state-of-the-art clubhouse facilities serving hot and cold food and offering excellent viewing areas. Dress Code: Wear trainers or similar flat shoes. A clean helmet, balaclava, competition-style race suit, gloves and rib protectors will be provided. Guidelines: From London, take A2/M2 to M2 junction 3 and keep left on the ramp. At roundabout take third exit onto A229 and next roundabout the second exit. Then you will see signs for Buckmore Park. Alternatively, from the M20, exit junction 6 and proceed up Bluebell Hill. At the top, exit left and keep to left lane. At lights take the first exit left. The nearest train station is Chatham and the nearest airport is Rochester. Restrictions: Minimum age is 16. Drivers don't need a driving licence or any driving experience. Minimum height is 5', maximum height is 6'4''. Maximum weight 18 stone. Other Info: Don't drink any alcohol for a minimum of 12 hours before the experience, otherwise participation is not permitted. After the event has finished, feel free to relax in the on-site bar.
