Fashion followers have welcomed back one of the most polarising accessories of the past few decades. In the 90s and naughties, there was a common consensus that scrunchies are dated even kitsch. They led a life as a definitive faux pas by the mainstream culture but were also considered hipster material by labels like American Apparel or Retro Vintage.
But recently, scrunchies have been resurfacing as a bonified trend, a runoff effect of the 80s revival. The renaissance trend of the 80s is about to become fully adopted by popping up to various collections. For example, Urban Outfitters has offered a wide display of different types of scrunchies varying from velvet to satin. Over at Balenciaga, their chouchou versions are made from lambskin and priced at almost $200.
Amidst the emerging scrunchies craze, a new luxe scrunchie brand was introduced. Comfort Objects is an accessories label based in Denmark that transforms vintage Hermès scarves into silk scarves, priced at $112. Insta - favourite Ganni adored for the rainbow stripes jumper, white cowboy boots and polka dot pieces presented his own scrunchie offering. Just this week, blogger Camille Charriere snapped a mirror selfie sporting a red floral scrunchie from the Copenhagen brand costing no more than $20.
Match the scrunchie pattern with your dress for maximum effect or opt for a red accessory to tie in the outfit. These accessories are best employed with a muted outfit like a creme coloured victorian blouse jeans and flats.
