Opening on March 14th and only closing this past Sunday on August 2nd, the V&A's Alexander McQueen retrospective, Savage Beauty, welcomed 493,043 visitors to the show, becoming the museum's most-visited exhibition to date.
Drawing visitors from across the globe, attendees hailed from 87 countries, primarily from Europe and the US but also from Kazakhstan, East Timor, El Salvador, Mauritius and Ecuador, among others.
Director of the V&A, Martin Roth said; "We are absolutely delighted that nearly half a million people have visited the V&A to see Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty which is, I'm proud to say, one of the most unpredictable, dramatic and spectacular exhibitions we have ever staged.
"The response has been phenomenal and has exceeded our expectations in so many ways...it's been a remarkable experience to stay open around the clock for the first time ever to give even more people the opportunity to see this special show in McQueen's home city."
