If you’re looking to take the plunge and give yourself a serious hair overhaul, Alicia Lu’s guide below might help ease your worries and get you prepared for the long journey ahead.
Keep in mind that taking your hair through such a dramatic change is best done under the care of a professional hair colorist, and it takes a couple of sessions to achieve the blonde hair you want!
The first step is bleaching your entire head, staying at least half an inch away from the roots. It’s important not to wash your hair prior to bleaching, and you may feel some pain on your scalp.
Olaplex Bond Multiplier is applied after the bleach to rebuild the bonds in your hair as they get broken down by the bleach.
3. Rinse and Shampoo
Once your hair has spent enough time in the bleach and Olaplex mixture, your colorist will rinse it off and shampoo and condition your hair.
4. Olaplex 2
Olaplex Bond Perfector is used to treat your hair for ten minutes.
5. Purple-tinted shampoo
Your colorist may add purple-tinted shampoo when they wash your hair to prevent your blonde locks looking brassy.
6. Olaplex 3
You’ll be asked to use Olaplex Hair Perfector at home once a week, or play it safer and use it as a daily leave-in conditioner and strengthener.
7. Care at home
Try to use cold water when washing your hair to allow your hair to heal, and don’t wash your hair for a few days before you need to go back to the salon.
Two weeks after the first bleaching session, your colorist will then work on your roots. They’ll apply the bleach, rinse, and apply post-color treatment to deactivate the bleach.
For the final step, you’ll get your hair treated by Olaplex 2, followed by a gloss, trim and blowout to style.
Before you leave the salon, make sure to get hair maintenance tips from your colorist!
