Looks like Taylor Swift's stirred up some bad blood between herself and R&B singer Jesse Braham (stage name: Jesse Graham)- the latter claims Tay Tay ripped off the lyrics to Shake It Off from his 2013 track Haters Gone Hate and is suing her for $42 million.
Additionally, Braham is demanding Taylor add his name as a writer on her song. We're pretty sure you all know the lyrics to Shake It Off (If you don't, shame on you!) so it'll be easy to compare them to Braham's lyrics for Hater's Gone Hate:
Haters gone hate, playas gone play. Watch out for them fakers, they'll fake you everyday.
Speaking to Perez Hilton, a legal source has cleared up some of the lawsuit's logistics: "Mr. Braham, who is representing himself, cannot claim copyright protection for the phrase "haters gone hate" and "playas gone play" because the Copyright Act does not protect short phrases and these phrases are not original to him.
"In addition, and most damning to Mr. Braham's claim, the two songs have absolutely nothing in common."
#Awkward. On the bright side, it's rumoured Taylor could be performing with Britney Spears and Bruno Mars at the 2016 Super Bowl!
