If you partied away December celebrating Christmas and New Years Eve with as many groups of friends as possible, you might be feeling a bit groggy and dull as you enter 2016.
Give your skin a refreshing detox and bring life back to your complexion with these seven steps:
1. Super cleanse
Cleanse away the grime and glitter of the holiday season with a great-smelling cleansing oil. An oil-based cleanser allows you to you to remove all the remnants of your oil-based make-up. Follow this up with your normal (sulfate-free) cleanser to give you a boost on your journey to a clearer complexion.
Use a gentle exfoliator along with your cleansing routine to help buff away dead skin cells. We recommend soft konjac sponges which are perfect for baby soft skin.
3. Use a peel
Use a fruity peel to bring a vibrant freshness to your skin. Use it once or twice a week for best results and opt for a gentle, fragrant one to reduce irritation.
4. Steam it up
A facial steam does wonders for clearing up skin, releasing toxins, dirt and debris from your face. DIY yours with a large bowl of just-boiled water, baking soda, apple cider vinegar and some herbs.
5. Add a mask
Indulge in a face mask and give yourself some at-home pampering at the same time. Make sure to check the mask is suitable for your skin type - oil-balancing ones are great for those with combination skin while moisturising ones are best for those with very dry skin.
6. Use a light moisturiser
To give your skin a break from the layers of Christmas and NYE make-up, use a light moisturiser to keep your skin looking radiant. This also helps lock-in all the benefits of steps 1 through 5. Use a tinted moisturiser if you’re looking for some coverage.
7. Eat clean
Try to eliminate dairy, sugar and coffee (all of which can lead to break-outs, acne and other skin inflammations) from your diet to help your skin detox from the inside out.
