London Fashion Week kicked off today in a blaze of publicity surrounding its new venue choice... a car park in Soho.
Yes, much has been made of this huge departure from the grand surroundings of Somerset House, and so far we think our instincts were bang on- the new venue has much still to prove.
Anyway, onto our rundown of the day. We kicked off our LFW adventures hitting Bora Aksu and Ong-Oaj Pairam at lunchtime, before criss-crossing across Soho for the rest of the afternoon to hit up as many shows as we could.
One of our fave shows in Feb was Fyodor Golan and this season's Transformers theme may well have topped My Little Pony for theatrics- plastic embellishments, sky high heels, 3D florals and oh a goody bag complete with toy for those deemed cool enough.
Elsewhere PPQ and Pam Hogg caused massive disappointment when bloggers and press were turned away because the venue was oversubscribed. So far, so unimpressive.
Still, there were other triumphs to mark on Day 1- notably the return of Zandra Rhodes to LFW after a 10 year absence and Erin O'Connor lit up the FROW at Eudon Choi on a day when glamour was in pretty short supply!
Thankfully we spotted the gorgeous (and very lovely) Kimberley Garner providing some much needed sparkle in a daring cut out green jumpsuit, and we spied Lucy Mecklenburgh & Sam Faiers on the FROW at Jean Pierre Braganza too- apparently that rift wasn't serious then?!
