In Kanye's world this is normal. Last Friday, the rapper, turned designer decided that he will showcase his Yeezy Season 2 collection this Wednesday, September 16th at noon during NYFW.
Okay, this should be fine right? But apparently, this last-minute decision is causing outrage from NYFW designers who are already on the calendar for that noontime slot. One of them is Anne Bowen who will be releasing her first sportswear collection spoke to WWD and said that "We have been prepping for a year for this at a considerable financial, labor- and commitment cost to our company. [...] Kanye knows he's a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this."
The designer then alluded to Kanye being a Goliath as he is causing inconvenience to these designers. Bowen has then moved her show to September 17th at 12:30pm and has issued a complaint to the CFDA.
Although truth be told, Bowen might have just found a way to simply hype up her show. It was just unfortunate for her that Kanye decided to show his collection the same time as her brand and it is also a sportswear brand.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Kanye did an unethical move?
