Although it might be the most fun festival of the year, all girls know that Holi can wreak some major havoc on the hair! The chemicals in Holi colours are nasty to say the least, and you have to be careful lest they cause serious damage.
Here are a few different options you can use to minimize the Holi-induced damage to your locks this year:
Apply coconut oil before the festival. Any oil will do, but coconut oil works best. Give yourself a nice champi, and tie up your hair into a ponytail or braid. Use a homemade nourishing mask on your hair. After you’re done playing with colour, gently rinse your hair with water.
Mix 2 tablespoons into a bowl of dahi and apply it as a mask to your hair for half an hour. Rinse it out, and you’ll see that it helped nourish your hair.
Apply olive oil to your hair after you’re done playing.
Another post-Holi remedy is to wash it thoroughly with shampoo, and then put olive oil in it as a conditioner until the next day. This helps to condition your hair and combat dryness caused by the icky chemicals!
