2015 was a year of fashion shocks- Simons leaving Dior, Elbaz ousted from Lanvin and of course, Wang departing Balenciaga.
Rumours continue to circle about Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent this year, but all eyes- for the time being at least- have been focused on how Wang's replacement, Demna Gvasalia would fair in this debut for Balenciaga.
Well, the answer is pretty mixed in my view. It's a new dawn at the French fashion house, that much was obvious- logo t-shirts have been introduced into the collection for example- but there were also nods to Vetements signature style and Balenciaga's heritage.
Exaggerated shapes, clashing prints, ski and puffa jackets stomped down the catwalk, teamed with patent boots and structured handbag, which to me was a triumph, I'm just not sure about the more youthful element, but hey, time (and sales) will tell!
