This season the desert tones of the wild west are everywhere. Muted yellow, dusty rose and warm, glowing tan are dominating our Instagram feeds. These tones evoke a sense of mystery and adventure - think lonesome cowgirls with tumbledown tresses and freckled noses chasing the sun across the dunes.

It’s no wonder Roxy made the romantic outlaw their muse for the summer collection. Their latest swimwear offering blends timeless silhouettes with maverick twists and draws on western staples like oversized button-downs, artisan embroidery and bold earthy hues.

Our favourite pieces for long relaxing days in the sun include the Little Bandits one-piece suit#1155cc"> in berry and blue-toned botanical print, the gorgeous Bohemian Vibes Athletic Tri Bikini Top and matching bikini bottoms. As always, Roxy lead the way with cool-girl aesthetics and functional design. Soft resistant stretch fabrics make the new collection as ideal for sunbathing as it is for water sports and island adventures.

Come sundown, throw a chunky knit over your western-inspired bikini - we love the Livin’ Sunday Cardigan for understated beach babe vibes. If you hurry you can snatch the cardigan and an array of other special finds with an extra 30% OFF as part of the Roxy Memorial Day Sale.

Are you ready to channel your inner outlaw?

Yes, we're already reaching the mid of May meaning more sunlight, more time for exposed legs and a time for a slight change in wardrobe. These changes include footwear, and though we should be in sandals season, this time it's all about ankle boots and their many variations: Flat, heeled, leather and suede, print or plain.

Flat boots

The flat ankle boot is probably the easiest way to be comfy chic. If you don't believe me just ask a few flat ankle aficionados like Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller. Follow in their footsteps and team them with midi skirts, long floral trousers or leggings.

Heeled boots

Part of your essentials are definitely a pair of impressive, leather heeled ankle boots. They are offered in a great variety of punky buckle boots, suede Western styles, vintage lace up booties, riding styles in metallics bright bold colours like red and purple but also look out for plain black, grey, brown or white.

It's back. The festival that created its own unique dress code is returning this weekend and if you're one of the lucky show goers we have a few tips for you. Packing for Coachella doesn't have to be a daunting task. You don't need to acquire a Native American headdress to impress. In fact, avoiding fancy dress and going for a chicer approach will make more of a statement. So assuming, you’ve already sorted out your luggage, we’ll help you with the packing.

Do's and don'ts when packing for Coachella…

Don't bring a one-piece

Jumpsuits and bodysuits look cute but they’re a no-no at a festival, as you'll be stuck in long toilet cues and you'll have to change in and out of your one-piece. Instead, go for the simpler version with a bralette, cut-off jean shorts and western-style booties.

Do light layering

Considering you'll be faced with the adverse weather of the desert, see-sawing between high and low degrees it's best to resort to layering. Wear your swimsuit top, with a flowing skirt or denim shorts, your booties and a kimono or denim jacket for after dark.

Do practical bags

Backpacks and cross-body bags are your safest bet come festival season. You can store larger items with ease: say your water bottle, SPF, phone and deodorant while leaving your arms and hands free to fist pump and dance the night away.

Don't do sandals

We know the model pack often strolls the California polo fields in sandals which looks adorable during the day but not so practical during the gigs. Instead, go for cute white sneakers or ankle boots that will elevate your outfit and keep your toes safe at the same time.

Do glitter make up

Add some extra sparkle by adopting the festival look without going full unicorn. Some stick-on gems, glitter eyeshadow and shimmering lip balm will leave you looking fresh and ready to party. Avoid heavy eyeliners and dark eyeshadow as they tend to smudge in the heat.

Editor's Pick: Add a dab of self-tan before you hit the festival for an extra glow. Just remember to wash your hands immediately after applying it and stay away from stain-prone clothing like your whites and crochet bikini tops.

Now you're done and ready to party the weekend away! See you in the fields…

Boho is set to be big this summer but if you’re not ready to go for full-on pom poms and prairie dresses, how about trying a hint of fringe instead? The sleeker, subtler sister of a full-length boho frock, fringed dresses take cues from tasselled garments from way out west.

Look to Christian Dior's collection for cowgirl-inspired pieces, Loewe for knotted T-shirt dresses and Bottega Veneta for ‘60s-style mini dresses adorned with rock’n’roll leather fringing. Want the look for less? Why not try a simple iteration from Mango, where you’ll find fringed panelling and hems for SS18 – perfect for festivals and sunny days.

An easy way to infuse your look with a touch of eclectic cool, designers are opting for fringes and tassels to elevate simple looks to new heights this season. Team yours with simple accessories like leather ankle boots, a minimalist clutch or a pair of barely-there heels to let the detailing take centre stage.

From swinging tassels on day dresses to glittering sequinned threads and flashes of eyelash lace for after dark, fringing is in and here to stay.

Nanushka was born in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, more than a decade ago, but is finally getting under the spotlight. If you spend your days cruising on Instagram, you definitely saw the brand's design: maybe a dress, a coat... fashionistas love it! From Song of Style to NYC Bambi, without forgetting the French it-girl Caroline de Maigret, they all wear Nanushka.

It's hard not to fall for its amazing outerwear, their famous lilac wrap dress.

We had the chance to meet Sandra Sandor, the designer behind the brand, during Paris Fashion Week, for an exclusive interview, to chat about the story of the brand and what we should expect in the future.

Shopcade: What brought you to fashion ?

Sandra: Actually, it was a given way for me because my mother was a children's wear designer in the 70s prior to the fall of the Iron Curtain. Dressing was always a very important self-expression form for me. I wasn't sure that I wanted to become a designer until the age of 17. Then, I thought that I really want to try to study fashion design and it was very interesting because you know, in Hungary, there is no history in fashion and there aren't many fashion schools. I really wanted to study fashion somewhere where it was very relevant.

After studying in the London College of Fashion, I went back to Budapest were Nanushka began, back in 2006.

How do you define Nanushka's style?

S: We usually think of ourselves as a bridge between intuitive and functional design. The clothes that we will keep loving and will become our wardrobe staples are those in which we really feel comfortable in as well. So, we try to execute this also in the design from the choice of fabric. We try to make everything washable. Nothing gets very wrinkly. It's comfortable wear for every season and good for both seasons. Of course, we do have fur coats for winter, but it has a soft feel.

I don't think trends are ad-hoc things they reflect our surroundings and the people around us. Nanushka, from a design perspective is trying to be relevant for the era we live in.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

S: My main source of inspiration as a designer it to try to create harmony, while mixing very distant cultural references, like Western with Oriental or Far Eastern. Actually, these two have been permeating through our collections. Sometimes even for three seasons, we kind of have a theme that carries over and we maybe add an extra inspiration. As a designer, I don't want to jump in too quickly.

The next season is already coming, but I like to keep the inspiration flowing for longer. Mixing the Wild Western boots with Far Eastern culture has been going since Resort 18, carried over to our SS18. For Pre-Fall 18/19, we added 90s Berlin colors and silhouettes, as well as vegan leathers.

Also, as a general inspiration, the traveling state of mind really inspires me. When you travel, you're very receptive, very open and almost like a child state of mind, and comfort becomes essential.

How do you want women to feel when they wear your clothes?

S: I really want them to feel confident, easy, effortless.

Called the label to watch by fashionistas, how do you feel about social media ?

S: Social media really helped us grow. We kind of think of ourselves as a lifestyle brand. We try to make our social media platform a moodboard of our brand and also a source of inspiration. Influencers is our secret in a way. We never pay for partnerships, but we work with influencers who represent our brand values. I think it's important for a brand to give to the right people, no with the biggest followers, because their followers are similar to ours.

What's your favorite piece from the current collection ?

S: From the SS18, our tiger-inspired print made with watercolor painting, and digitally printed on fabric fabric is my favorite. We made a pair of long pants from it called Nevada pants, inspired by pyjama pants from Coco Chanel in the 30s or 40s. She was the first woman to wear pyjama pants as a daily wear I think.

What should we expect for the future collections ?

S: The values and clashing cultures as a source of inspiration will definitely remain, I think it's important to highlight where I come from. Hungary has always been an intersection of East and West. The German Empire had a big effect on us, as well as Turkish culture and the Parisian Belle Epoque.

At the turn of the century, travel was open for everyone. Hungarians and artists came to Paris to get some inspiration and change their values etc. So, when you come to Budapest, you'll find a Turkish bath on one side of the street, next to Brutalist buildings on the other side. So it's a mix of cultures.

But going back to how I imagine my future collections, I think we're going to develop, while our core brand values and sources of inspiration remain. And spice it up with the season's trends. A good balance.

If you had to pick only one piece you created, which one would it be?

S: Hard question! But I love outerwear and our brand is really known for that. So I would probably pick a coat, specifically a robe coat.

What are your do's and don'ts when it comes to fashion ?

S: I don't really believe in do's and don'ts. I think you can get away with anything if you put it in the right context.

What is the must-have of every outfit?

S: The right pair of shoes, they define the whole outfit in the end. But I could also say that a good pair of jeans is a must.

There are certain items that you can safely say work under most weather climates. With the rise of a global fashion agenda even if a piece belongs to the summer wardrobe, for example, sandals, a new trend will emerge such as pairing them with statement socks. Leather leggings though can stand well on their own against temperature tantrums and make one of the best pieces of clothing to own during transitional periods like Spring.

Leather leggings are comfortable, flattering and can keep you warm. With the new season, there comes a new way of styling them according to the fashion pack. From minimal to statement -making outfits that will make heads turn on the street.

Read on and discover how you can wear leather leggings this Spring!

STATEMENT

Go for a bold statement by blending poppy colours in one maximal outfit. For example team a pair of red leather pants with a blue cashmere polo-neck and tie it in with a silver chain belt.

MUTED

Opt for a demure approach by sporting a pair of black leather pants with a cardigan or hoodie and finish your look with a slouchy pair of Converse.

TEXTURE

For a night out go for a head-to-toe black outfit and play with textures and prints. Add a leopard print or faux fur coat and indulge in the luxe effect of leather leggings.

WESTERN

For the perfect twist on a daytime outfit team your leather leggings with a camisole western shirt and leather print mules.

Just like corduroy, another Americana mini trend is having a major moment: the cowboy boot. Wild West was big in Milan catwalks and street style hasn't been the same ever since. First seen at Fendi, in a multitude of colours and designs, an embellished version emerged at Dolce & Gabbana, while Emporio Armani employed it as one of the key trends for the new season. The great news is that cowboy boots are incredibly versatile and can be paired up with pretty much anything: From trousers or skirts they can be worn beautifully both in winter and in the warmer months of Spring and Summer.

Scroll down below and find the one that's right for you:

STATEMENT HUE BOOT

Fendi made a very clear statement by creating cowboy boots in bold prints and hues like mustard yellow, or blue. If you opt for an impressive boot aim to keep the rest of the outfit muted or pair it with an outfit that's in the same tonal family: deep browns, neutral hues like champagne and black.

SEQUIN BOOT

Dolce & Gabbana put a sparkly stamp on the original cowboy boot instantly elevating it from a day look to an evening glitter-party. If you want to make yours to work after dark, team it with a monochrome outfit, embellished with sequins.

MIXED PRINT

If you want a more casual trendy spin then take the Emporio Armani route of mixed colours and Americana trademarks like stars. Choose a few colours of the boot, for example, green and white and wear them with a green and white dress or stripped pantsuit.

Although velvet is still having a moment in the spotlight, another seventies staple is taking centre stage: corduroy. And there's a large offering too for Spring, whether it's a jumpsuit, skirt or jacket. Contrary to popular belief, corduroy is not only a winter fabric. Like linen, it's quite adaptable to weather climate changes. The strong case for corduroy was made in the Prada show in Paris, while Isabel Marant also offered a touch of corduroy trousers with a 1980's twist.

The tomboyish appeal of the texture was picked up by Alexa Chung who incorporated it into her Alexa Chung collection, while Lemaire showed a rusty cord trouser suit. Gucci that holds the helm historically over the corduroy trend threw out pink flares, floral suits, and signature flippers. The past few seasons we've noticed that there has been a huge resurgence of trends, so it came as no surprise when corduroy made its way back to the catwalks, street style and ultimately our wardrobe. The high street also took notice. The new Stockholm- based fashion brand, The Cords & Co focuses on this material alone making it the corduroy's haven.

This fabric was extremely popular in the 70's especially by Jane Birkin and her bohemian - laissez-faire interpretation of the menswear staple. In the 70's resurgence of the late 90s corduroy was back in stock for both men and women. Nowadays we're seeing it not only in the form of trousers but also as a pinafore dress, and in many shades of pink, to burgundy, green, aquatic or in floral patterns.

STYLE TIPS

Pair a luxe corduroy suit with a white graphic tee for a smart casual outfit that will turn heads all Spring long.

Opt for a tonal approach by wearing a hoodie with a slightly lighter hue over your coloured corduroy trousers.

For a bold look, do a head-to-toe corduroy look. If the full on corduroy look makes you uneasy, match a detail like your socks, sunnies or a shade of your T-Shirt with that of you corduroy trousers.

Finally, you don’t have to settle for trousers alone. Choose a corduroy blazer, skirt, or even dungarees.
