Barack Obama gave his farewell speech last night in Chicago last night, the city which launched his political career.

The speech was full of hope, but also of warning- that racism and inequality is still rife, stating "we are not where we need to be".  Continuing "If every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hardworking white middle class and undeserving minorities, then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclave".

Obama continued "If we decline to invest in the children of immigrants, just because they don't look like us, we diminish the prospects of our own children - because those brown kids will represent a larger share of America's work force".

The President also shared some nostalgic sentiments, calling back to his 2008 campaign slogan of "Yes, we can", adding "Yes, we did".

Obama and the crowd dabbed their eyes when he called his wife, Michelle "my best friend", and Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr "a brother".

Meryl Streep delivered a truly inspiring acceptance speech last night at the Golden Globes, where she used her platform to speak out about the current American political climate and how those in the audience should use their influence to protect the press.

Meryl stated in her speech that "When the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose" and almost like clockwork Trump has responded by attempting to belittle her credibility.

Trump tweeted "Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn't know me but attacked last night at the golden Globes. She is a....Hilary flunky who lost big. For the 100th time, I never "mocked" a disabled reporter (would never do that) but simply showed him...."grovelling" when he totally changed a 16 year old story that he had written in order to make me look bad. Just more very dishonest media".

Yes, this is real life. Yes the President-elect of the USA really did just take to twitter to bad mouth a renowned actress who used her position and freedom of speech to voice concern. Calling her a "flunky" and "overrated", note that in Meryl's speech she never once named Trump nor used derogatory language of a similar ilk.

Not that we should be surprised right? His constant misogyny has been well documented from "You know, it doesn't matter what the media write as long as you've got a young, and beautiful, piece of ass" to "If Hilary Clinton can't satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America", and the infamous "grab her by the p***y, you can do anything".

Now, let's look at the facts. In what way is Meryl Streep overrated, does he know what that word means? She holds the record for the most Academy Award nominations, has won multiple oscars, received an honorary degree from Harvard and many more accolades. By no stretch of the imagination is she overrated. She's a talented, qualified and competent woman- which from experience we know doesn't bode well with Trump.

Trump seems convinced that he didn't mock a disabled reporter, but if you watch the video in the gallery above it's pretty black and white. Let us know what you think, were Trump's tweets valid or out of order?

Kim K has returned to social media after a break following the Paris robbery in October. She captioned the photo "family", which depicted North, Saint, Kanye and herself.

After three months away from social media, and divorce rumours flying around, we're happy to see that the family are well and truly still strong!

This all comes the same night as Ray J enters the Celebrity Big Brother House in London, where he's been offered $1 million to appear on the show...and no doubt spill the beans over his and Kim's leaked sex tape that catapulted her to fame. In his introductory tape he said "You might know me for my music, TV shows and my dick". Eeeek, he definitely isn't holding back!

Chrissy Teigen, our ultimate girl crush, is today's LOVE Magazine Advent star. If you don't know Chrissy, firstly- where have you been? And secondly, she's fab.

Model, presenter, cookbook author, twitter legend and one part of Hollywood's best couple (she's married to John Legend). Oh also, she has the cutest baby that has ever existed.

The video is a spoof of a 80s work out, with her reaching for junk food whilst exercising. Considering she gave birth not long ago, her body is out of this world.

Kim Kardashian

Kim has been killing the game with her post pregnancy bod, but what diet does she follow to achieve this? Surprisingly, nothing too radical. She's a fan of the Atkins diet, and her favourite meal is: sliced turkey breast, tomatoes, mozzarella, sprouts and sunflower seeds. YUM.

Kourtney Kardashian

Much like her sister Kim she loves salad, and opts for the same one but with no cheese and adds avocado! Khloe Kardashian Khloe loves an asian chicken salad which includes: shredded chicken breast, noodles, ginger, carrots, lettuce and avocado.

Miranda Kerr

The Victoria's Secret model goes for a finely chopped salad with grilled salmon, spinach, olives, fennel, tomato and carrots. These ingredients all contain lots of natural oil which is no doubt what gives her such glowing skin!

Selena Gomez

Selena favours a "power salad" of turkey, avocado and beans, all finished off with a dressing of red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, olive oil and lemon juice. Very protein packed which she needs for all her touring!

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy is a favourite of ours, if you haven't seen her Twitter, you need to. She has her own cookbook called 'Cravings' which features a salad of cayenne-candied walnuts, lettuce, apple, red onion and blue cheese. YAS. This sounds too good.

Jennifer Aniston

Anything Jen is having we want, because let's be real, she looks about 20 still. She goes for bulgur wheat, cucumber, red onion, garbanzo beans, feta, pistachios and herbs. This salad is a very typical Lebanese dish and is jam full of vitamins!

Lily Aldridge

Another VS model who loves a salad. She goes for a spicy tofu base with quinoa, broccoli and beetroot!

Jessica Alba

Jessica loves a shredded carrot, avocado, tomato and grape salad, all finished with an olive oil and lemon dressing. We're going to be trying this one for lunch tomorrow! Yum!

Kate Hudson

She is infamous for her love of health and fitness, so it's no surprise that the Fabletics founder goes for an arugula, watermelon, shallot and feta salad.

Beyonce

Queen B is sometimes someone to be wary of with her diets- we all remember the super ill-advised maple syrup one. But during her 22 Day Vegan challenge she opted for a super healthy kale, nori sheets, basil, almond, carrot and cucumber dish.

Tom Ford, the designer/director, accidentally spilled tea all over the place when asked in an interview if he would dress the US's new first lady, Melania Trump. "She's not necessarily, uh, my image" he said to Joy Behar on The View about Melania, and admitted that he already declined an offer to dress her a couple years ago.

He quickly amended his answer, giving a few more reasons he wouldn't dress Melania. Ford says he's a registered Democrat, that he voted for Hillary in the recent election, and that he's sad that she's not in the White House instead. Besides that, he noted that he didn't think it was appropriate for any public political figure to wear clothes as expensive as his. “Even had Hillary won," he added, "she shouldn’t be wearing my clothes, they’re too expensive. That's not a bad thing, they’re not artificially expensive, it’s how much it costs to make these things, but I think the first lady has to relate to anybody.”

His line of reasoning drew some serious side-eye from the audience, as Joy pointed out that Ford has dressed Michelle Obama in the past. But Ford was not having it. "Michelle I dressed once, when she was going to Buckingham Palace for dinner with the Queen," he retorted. "I thought that was appropriate. I live in London, so that makes sense." As an afterthought, he added, "And it was an honor." He also talked about current and upcoming projects, including Nocturnal Animals. Ford stayed pretty neutral with his answer, but other designers have been more forthright about their decision not to dress Melania.

Sophie Theallet, who has been dressing Michelle Obama for the past 8 years, issued a statement on Twitter about her own reasons. "As an independent fashion brand, we consider our voice an expression of our artistic and philosophical ideas. The Sophie Theallet brand stands against all discrimination and prejudice. We value our artistic freedom and always humbly seek to contribute to a more humane, conscious and ethical way to create in this world. I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next First Lady. The rhetoric of racism, sexism and xenophobia unleashed by her husband's presidential campaign are incompatible with the shared values we live by. I encourage my fellow designers to do the same."

Sophie Theallet has been the most outspoken, but a source told People magazine that Sophie's not the only designer to shun the Trumps. “This has already been going on for months. Designers wouldn’t lend to Melania, Ivanka or Tiffany, so they either bought the items themselves or wore Ivanka’s brand." We'll have to wait to see if this trend continues, or, if like Carolina Herrera predicts, that designers will be won over by Melania in the end.

The first time you see your ex after a break-up is always a big moment. You want them to weep at how good you look. And Bella just acted this dream out IRL, looking as good as humanely possible.

Seriously, just imagine how good you'd feel. After 10 hours of hair and makeup, oiled up and toned to perfection, in one of the best pieces of lingerie there is. And Abel's reaction is every guy who's ever seen their ex looking fire and regretting their decision. TOO MANY FEELINGS.

Can they just get back together already, please.

On November 9th, the day after the US Presidential Election, Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin - a writer for The Social Network, West Wing, The News Room, and Moneyball - penned a touching letter to his daughter.

Weirdly, he addressed it to "Sorkin Girls," though he just has the one daughter, 15-year-old Roxy. We think he meant to include his ex-wife, laywer Julia Bingham? He should have double-checked his letter for typos, since Julia is neither a Sorkin nor a girl. Anyway, the letter is an emotional reminder to always keep fighting inequalities, even in the face of stunning defeats.

Sorkin is a noted Democrat. He routinely donates money to Democrat candidates, and was part of the anti-Bush campaign in 2004, teaming up with MoveOn, along with Rob Reiner, to do commercials.

He was a supporter of Obama, and is sad to see him go (as are millions of Americans!) But what's more tragic is his elected replacement, Trump. Trump has been preaching hate, and his public vitriol has brought out the worst in America.

However, Americans are pushing back against hate! Instead of focusing on the awful things that the president elect has promised to do, many people are choosing to spend their energy on positive things.

In dark times, it's important to seek out the happy things in life and not let yourself get too bummed out. True, the national election has gone down a dark road, but local elections have seen some wonderful changes around the country, and it's lovely to see people standing up to support each other.

Roxy is just 15, but she's already politically aware, and has posted pro-Bernie sentiments on her Instagram. She's pretty typical of her generation, since teens are becoming more involved in politics. In fact, of voters aged 18-25, the overwhelming majority voted blue! This means that as time marches forward, we'll see fewer Trumps elected. How's that for a bright side?

Give Sorkin's letter a read below, and feel free to post your opinion in the comments! If you're feeling inspired, shop the classic Sorkin look - including iconic glasses - below...

Sorkin Girls,

Well the world changed late last night in a way I couldn’t protect us from. That’s a terrible feeling for a father. I won’t sugarcoat it—this is truly horrible. It’s hardly the first time my candidate didn’t win (in fact it’s the sixth time) but it is the first time that a thoroughly incompetent pig with dangerous ideas, a serious psychiatric disorder, no knowledge of the world and no curiosity to learn has.

And it wasn’t just Donald Trump who won last night—it was his supporters too. The Klan won last night. White nationalists. Sexists, racists and buffoons. Angry young white men who think rap music and Cinco de Mayo are a threat to their way of life (or are the reason for their way of life) have been given cause to celebrate. Men who have no right to call themselves that and who think that women who aspire to more than looking hot are shrill, ugly, and otherwise worthy of our scorn rather than our admiration struck a blow for misogynistic shitheads everywhere. Hate was given hope. Abject dumbness was glamorized as being “the fresh voice of an outsider” who’s going to “shake things up.” (Did anyone bother to ask how? Is he going to re-arrange the chairs in the Roosevelt Room?) For the next four years, the President of the United States, the same office held by Washington and Jefferson, Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt, F.D.R., J.F.K. and Barack Obama, will be held by a man-boy who’ll spend his hours exacting Twitter vengeance against all who criticize him (and those numbers will be legion). We’ve embarrassed ourselves in front of our children and the world.

And the world took no time to react. The Dow futures dropped 700 points overnight. Economists are predicting a deep and prolonged recession. Our NATO allies are in a state of legitimate fear. And speaking of fear, Muslim-Americans, Mexican-Americans and African-Americans are shaking in their shoes. And we’d be right to note that many of Donald Trump’s fans are not fans of Jews. On the other hand, there is a party going on at ISIS headquarters. What wouldn’t we give to trade this small fraction of a man for Richard Nixon right now?

So what do we do?

First of all, we remember that we’re not alone. A hundred million people in America and a billion more around the world feel exactly the same way we do.

Second, we get out of bed. The Trumpsters want to see people like us (Jewish, “coastal elites,” educated, socially progressive, Hollywood…) sobbing and wailing and talking about moving to Canada. I won’t give them that and neither will you. Here’s what we’ll do…

…we’ll fucking fight. (Roxy, there’s a time for this kind of language and it’s now.) We’re not powerless and we’re not voiceless. We don’t have majorities in the House or Senate but we do have representatives there. It’s also good to remember that most members of Trump’s own party feel exactly the same way about him that we do. We make sure that the people we sent to Washington—including Kamala Harris—take our strength with them and never take a day off.

We get involved. We do what we can to fight injustice anywhere we see it—whether it’s writing a check or rolling up our sleeves. Our family is fairly insulated from the effects of a Trump presidency so we fight for the families that aren’t. We fight for a woman to keep her right to choose. We fight for the First Amendment and we fight mostly for equality—not for a guarantee of equal outcomes but for equal opportunities. We stand up.

America didn’t stop being America last night and we didn’t stop being Americans and here’s the thing about Americans: Our darkest days have always—always—been followed by our finest hours.

Roxy, I know my predictions have let you down in the past, but personally, I don’t think this guy can make it a year without committing an impeachable crime. If he does manage to be a douche nozzle without breaking the law for four years, we’ll make it through those four years. And three years from now we’ll fight like hell for our candidate and we’ll win and they’ll lose and this time they’ll lose for good. Honey, it’ll be your first vote.

The battle isn’t over, it’s just begun. Grandpa fought in World War II and when he came home this country handed him an opportunity to make a great life for his family. I will not hand his granddaughter a country shaped by hateful and stupid men. Your tears last night woke me up, and I’ll never go to sleep on you again.

Love, Dad

As America becomes the butt of its own joke within the international community, it's pretty clear that at this point, patriots at home and abroad are either celebrating or feeling full of despair.

The race to the White House has felt longer and more divisive than ever before but now that the Great Sh*t Show of 2016 has reached its climax, the American people can look forward to Inauguration Day on January 20th, when they'll have either moved to Canada or purchased a copy of Russian for Beginners.

Scroll right through our gallery above to see how celebrities - not the lame ones like Tila Tequila or Kirstie Alley - are reacting to news of Trump's victory.

Considering that the majority of you were likely to have stayed up to watch the drama unfold, a play-by-play of last night's events aren't necessary.

Trump's victory speech - which you can watch in full in the video above - saw him offer commiserations to Hillary Clinton and her family, thank his supporters, and pledge to be a president for "all of Americans" from "all races, religions, backgrounds, and beliefs..."

Perhaps concerned about the divide within the country, Trump's victory speech made no mention of the wall he intended to have built along America's southern border that he wants to Mexico to pay for. The Donald also politely refrained from any "locker-room talk" and mentions of "p*ssy grabbing."

Given that Trump's campaign for the presidency was fuelled by anti-establishment anger, can his administration really give the people what he promised?

As Michael Moore put it in his recent documentary Michael Moore in TrumpLand, "When the rightfully angry people of Ohio and Michigan and Pennsylvania and Wisconsin find out after a few months in office that President Trump wasn't going to do a damn thing for them, it'll be too late to do anything about it."

Several important issues hang in the balance: Do #BlackLivesMatter to Trump? Will there be mass deportations? If not, what will be the extent of the potentially violent uproar among gun toting, die-hard Trump supporters should he fail to deliver? Who will move to Canada first, Miley Cyrus or Lena Dunham? And lastly, WHEN WILL WE SMASH THE GLASS CEILING?

Did Drake just confirm him & Taylor Swift are dating on Instagram? Well, it certainly seems that way! We don't know how to feel about this, but it seems those commenting do- there is an abundance of snake emojis.

Drake uploaded an image of him and Taylor facing with their back turned to the camera, captioned "Is that velvet?". Cryptic. But not really, 'cos they're both wearing velvet.

A source told E! News on Wednesday that the pair are "not dating or hooking up. The music they have been working on is different, very catchy".

We don't know what to believe anymore. As much as we love Taylor, we were seriously rooting for Drake and RiRi...

Baz Luhrmann's classic film Romeo + Juliet is turning 20 this month! The film adaptation of the William Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet, turned heads because of Luhrmann's decision to transport the characters to the modern-day setting of Verona (well, OK- modern for 1996) while simultaneously remaining true to the original script. It won more than a dozen awards across the globe and was even nominated for an Oscar.

It's often been credited as the movie that first put Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in the public spotlight as serious actors. Luhrmann has previously admitted that while Leo was always his number one pick for Romeo, her originally wanted Natalie Portman for Juliet. Upon seeing the two actors together, though, Luhrmann made the executive decision to go with Claire Danes instead.

For its 20th anniversary today, Luhrmann is releasing unseen production materials for the first time ever! The Australian director made the announcement through Twitter last week, delighting fans when he said that he and his team would be reviewing old archives and posting new materials. Here it is, in his own words:

It was an extraordinary creative journey, the likes of which I'm sure the cast, crew, and close collaborators will never quite experience again. Many doubted the preposterous ambition of setting Shakespeare's beloved tragic romance in a heightened creative world, with a then relatively unknown Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes.

But we did make it, overcoming incredible odds filming entirely in Mexico. Over the next 7 days, the team and I are going to go through our unpublished archives and, as a celebration of time passing, release previously unseen items leading up to R+J's 20th birthday. Think of it as a big shoutout to Shakespeare himself, whose 400th anniversary is this year.

Luhrmann started to make good on his promises almost immediately after his announcement, also through his Twitter account. He posted a story board for the famous gas station scene, images of Montague costume designs, a story board for Benvolio's death, and a story board for Vizcaya, the Capulet mansion.

It's very cool to get a sneak peek at what goes on behind the silver screen and to learn about the collaborative creative process. Whether you're a huge fan of the movie Romeo + Juliet, or just someone who enjoys learning more about how movies are made, you'll get a kick out of these boards and extra materials. Follow Luhrmann on Instagram and Twitter for more!

Since doing Romeo + Juliet back in 1996, Luhrmann has worked on several amazing movies, including Moulin Rouge in 2001, and also the revamp of another classic tale, The Great Gatsby, in 2013.

He has only positive things to say about R+J stars Leonardo and Claire Danes, and hinted that he's always on the lookout for another project in which he'll get to collaborate with Leo. We'll keep our fingers crossed for his future movies!

P.S. If you had anything to do with the making of the film, or are simply just a fan and want to share, don't hold back. Though I'm still getting down with "the get down", the team and I so much enjoy looking at everything."

On his Purpose tour, Justin Bieber recently stormed off stage in Manchester with an epic mic drop [literally] as he made his way backstage. Media outlets reported the singer-songwriter was upset at screaming fans who wouldn't let him speak in between songs.

After coming back onstage, he said "we're just going to do the music." Similarly, he called the crowd in Birmingham "obnoxious" only a few days prior.

Justin post a tweet yesterday which he has since deleted which appears to address his behaviour of late. Scroll through our gallery above to view the tweet or read on to see what his open letter says...

People tend to want to shut you down. What I mean by that is...people try to twist things, some people don't want to listen. But I simply feel like, if I didn't use this platform to say how I truly feel, and if I didn't use this platform to be the man that I know I am, and speak from what's in my heart, then I'm doing myself injustice, and I'm not doing anybody in this audience any justice.

There's going to be a time where I say the wrong thing, because I'm human. But I don't pretend to be perfect and I hope to God that, you know, I don't say the right thing all the time because if that was the case then I'd be a robot, and I'm just, I'm not a robot. There's times when I get upset...times when I get angry, there's times when I'm going to be frustrated. But I'm always going to be myself on this stage.

When people try to twist things and say "Justin's angry at his fans, He doesn't want his fans to scream" that's not at all what I was going [sic]. All I was simply doing was wanting people tpo listen; to kind of hear me out a little bit. Certain people...certain cities aren't going to want to hear me out, and you know, sometimes it's my job to just say "hey, i'm not going to try and force anything". I appreciate you guys tonight, listening to me and understanding, and rocking with me. You guys are truly amazing.
