You may be stumped on how to update your look for the season ahead but it’s easier than you might think.A new piece of jewelry is always a safe bet for breathing new life into an old look. Take a quick look in your closet and determine your new-season style; are you more classic or modern?

For a classic look go for minimal stacks of gold and enamel or raw earth-toned touches. For modern twists try maximalist colour, chunky silhouettes, layering and unique design.

Want to know what’s trending for SS18? These are the accessories to invest in...

Statement earrings

When it comes to statement earrings opt for tassels, chandelier styles or architectural shapes to be completely on trend this season. These earrings are meant to be your outfit’s focal point so keep the rest of your look pared down.

Layer everything

Invest in a bunch of pendants to layer, including gold hoops in different sizes, necklaces of different lengths or statement rings that say something about you. The layering and the choice of accessories communicates your individuality so have fun with it.

Matchy matchy

For a black-tie evening or a more formal event, go for a matching necklace and set of earrings or, choose a simple necklace with multiple layers to stay on trend..

Arm party

Opt for an array of bold and colourful bracelets for a hit of boho flair. Blend materials and colours for a cool contrast And keep the rest of your outfit simple.

This season’s palette is filled with earthy desert tones and we’re loving it. Muted yellows, warm blues, and soft tan are trending in a big way. Luckily these hues complement most skin tones and hair colors; from blondes to raven haired gals, redheads to brunettes, everyone looks good in desert tones.

How to style desert-inspired tones?

For a more low-key approach go for spring-ready hues like dusty rose and and olive.

Swap out your conventional grey and cream staples and inject your wardrobe with a subtle hit of color.

Pair hues from the desert palette with rich golds, a pair of summer sandals and a glossy pedicure.

Embrace your inner goth by opting for a darker nail colour choice, and going for a little iconography-inspired jewellery  – think Met Gala vibes.

Go for long flowing silhouettes like a  thigh-spit dress in chocolate or camel and define your waist with a thick leather belt. Finish your look with with a few boho accessories.

Today is a great opportunity to embrace Mexican culture. Many people enjoy some Mexican food or even a few margaritas, but Cinco de Mayo (or Fifth of May) is about more than partying with friends and family…

The day celebrates the date of the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican war. Although a minor holiday in Mexico, here in the US it has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage.

How to celebrate Cinco de Mayo?

Want to get the low-down on the best outfits for Cinco de Mayo? Look no further. Incorporate a few traditional Mexican colours such as green, white, yellow and red into your outfit. Rainbow stripes are trending at the moment so why not combine those hues by rocking bold prints or striped tops and dresses? Mexican women are famous for their long luscious locks, bold brows and fluttering eyelashes, so invest in a few items to boost your beauty look.

Opt for a bold red lip and some thick mascara, then use a spoolie to fluff up those brows and you're good to go. If you want to really push the boat out, go for a statement floral or classic Mexican instrument print; a guitar or maraca print is sure to turn heads when you turn up at a fiesta.

Editor’s tip: Stay away from traditional Mexican costumes as these are an important part of the country’s culture and dressing up in them for fun can be a little insensitive.

Next, invest in some Mexican-style decorations and don't forget the piñata. Set your table with bright colours and plenty of flowers. Then, serve traditional salsa verde with Mexican grilled corn.

Ready to celebrate the Mexican spirit? Visit our gallery for inspiration and scroll down to shop our Editors' picks below…

After Amber Valletta made an impressive appearance sporting a thigh-high, shiny leather skirt paired with stilletos last week, the world took notice. Not because of it's novelty, leather and vinyl skirts have been trending more than kale in 2014, but more so as a tribute to the legacy of Yves Saint Laurent.

And Amber Valetta wasn't alone in noticing this trend during the past month. Alexa Chung, Chloe Sevigny as well as models Jourdan Dunn and Winni Harlow went for the thigh-grazing skirt.

Not only are mini skirts trending from street style, Instagram feeds and the catwalks but they look amazing in Spring. As much as we hate to admit the early 00's era of Paris Hilton in pink Juicy track suits, double denim x2 Justin and Britney, Christina Aguilera's dirty braided locks, oversized hoops and motorcross gear loving songstress Pink are all trending for 2017. Even though some of those trends especially worn in the early 00's period make us cringe slightly, incorporating a few items here with a 2017  approach will work wonders for your wardrobe this season!

Read on for the latest throwback staples of the season!

1. Velour Track Suit Ensemble

Before the rise of athleisure the velour tracksuit was a no-fail staple. Combined with an oversized bag, a Starbucks venti Latte and a miniature dog it was the celebrity uniform adorned by most starlets of the time. Many years after it's inevitable demise the velour tracksuit is having a come back. Vetement's collaboration with Juicy Couture for SS17 should have given us a hint. Kanye's YEEZY and Chloe are also adding this naughts staple into their collections. You can probably thank or cringe at Rihanna and Kylie Jenner for putting it back on the Insta Fash pack radar.

2. Trucker Cap

In the heyday of paparazzi and celebrity culture which was the early naughts they had to be accompanied by some much needed streetwear and paparazzi-proof attire. Black sunnies have always been favourable but headgear is also quite integral. For the early 00's that attire included the trucker cap. The ubiquitous accessory for every 20-something celebrity from Pharrell to Ashton Kutcher or Britney Spears. It was Hedi Slimane who resurfaced the the polarizing accessory for Saint Lauren's SS16 show. Nowadays, Gigi Hadid and Kylie and Kendall Jenner have all been spotted with the infamous cap.#2e2e2e">

3. Hot Pink

As fashion recycles every 20 years the early naughts adopted the early 80's trend of pastel pink. When it came to the early naughts Paris Hilton not only brought the flirty colour back but basically built her brand by sporting bold non apologetic fuchia-pink. Around the same time that Legally Blonde premiered by the way. And even though we have been drowning in pastel pink for the past few seasons you can attribute the rise of bold pink to Ballenciaga's SS17 collection. Just wondering when Paris Hilton's come back is due?

4. Motorcross Gear

The rise of early aughties hip-hop is undeniable and it quickly infused the fashion runways too. From Pharell Williams, to Pink, EVE, or Christina Aguilera's Dirrty video and most rappers of the time donning heavy leather tracksuits and jackets usually styled with braided hair and lots of 'bling' or 'bling-bling' if you're truly old - school. Nowadays, labels like Maison Margiela, Alyx Studio, Supreme and of course Rihanna's Fenty x Puma SS18 collection at NYFW are completely in racing-inspired gear mode.

5. Candy Coloured Sunglasses

Colorful sunglasses were everywhere in early 00's and adored by women and men equally. From Sisqo to Justin Timberlake Eve and the Olsen Twins (they've gone a long way we know), all 00's stars were sporting this trend. Nowadays you'll find the likes of Gigi Hadid and her entourage in similar rose coloured glasses.

6. Oversized Hoops

The oversized hoops are a symbol of RnB and Hip Hop music. From Lauren Hill, to Missy Elliot, and EVE it's the accessory that goes hand in hand with a bandana, baseball cap or sleek back pony tail. In the aughts the trend went more mainstream and was adored by many including Victoria Beckham. These days, you can see anyone from Kendall Jenner, to the Hadid sisters or Rihanna rocking those giant gold hoops from designers like Area or minimal ones from Lombardi and Nandi Naya.

7. Fishnets

We're not saying you should go full-on Avril Lavigne and "Hollaback Girl"-era Gwen Stefani, necessarily, but there's definitely something about this pop version of post punk fashion that us bubbling back up all over social media. Usually worn underneath low rise wide legged ripped jeans and peaking from the waist and calves. And of course, the fishnet top is a great way to add some interest under a slip dress—or just over a bandeau bra, for a fun flirty look.

8. Pointy slingback pumps

You can pinpoint this trend to the late 90's who resurfaced the super pointy kitten heel. It was in the early 00's though that the silhouette became more relaxed and transformed into a more elegant and feminine slingback pump with a mid-height lift. Doesn't Sophia Coppola's outfit look truly timeless?

There you have it! The eight 00's trends that are coming back in a major way. Which ones will you be sporting this season? Check out our exclusive edit of all the items that will give you that extra aughts edge!

We love those rare moments of pure fashion optimism, like the one we're seeing now: designers are presenting bold colourful rainbow patterns in defiance of all-black everything. From '70s - inspired T-shirts and hoodies to technicolor skirts and show-stopping striped dresses. So during your spring clean this season, consider an influx of rainbow-patterned pieces to update your look and put a smile on your face.

Wondering what rainbow-inspired items to buy?

We've compiled a comprehensive checklist with all the colourful pieces to shop now...

Straight from the runway

Take cues from Peter Pilotto and Dolce & Gabbana SS18 and adopt a bold, bright rainbow-hued wardrobe full of statement dresses, T-shirts and accessories.

The knit

Invest in a rainbow knit that will take you from the colder temperatures into spring and summer with ease.

The pants

Go for a sporty iteration with a pair of white trousers with flattering rainbow-hued stripes – a cool twist on the trending tuxedo pant of last year.

The technicolor skirt

For an extra dose of swag go for a sparkly version of a rainbow shaded skirt. We agree the with Alice + Olivia's motto that The World Needs More Sparkle, indeed.

That '70s tee

Opt for a rainbow striped t-shirt or a bright patterned piece for colourful retro vibes.

The unapologetic bag

Who says a handbag has to be monochrome? Instead, use your bag as a decorative accessory featuring rainbow stripes – the bolder the better.

A spectrum of hues

Heading off on an early summer vacay? Invest in a colourful striped one-piece swimsuit and make it pop by adding white accessories.

Editor's choice: Hesitant to try the trend? Then go for some rainbow-inspired accessories – earrings, pendants, bracelets and rings that will infuse your look with playful attitude.

There's just something about the elegance, not to mention the comfort factor of a leather moccasin or a well-turned-out loafer. The ‘70s resurgence, with its voluminous silhouettes, floral prints and maximalism calls for a solid shoe to tie a look together and we’ve found our match. Now, with bold spring colours like blush pink and forest green dominating the streets, new silhouettes are appearing too, including heeled versions with embellishments like buckles, feathers and patterns.

How to wear moccasins?

Dress them down with a pair of tight fitted jeans, a white crisp shirt and a check blazer for an understated yet smart day look. Add a cute trench and an oversized bag for effortless cool.

Kick back in a woven pair and team with a floor-skimming spring-ready dress. Add oversized jewellery for interest and finish the look off with a ‘70s saddle bag.

Update your business wardrobe by sporting your fave moccasins with a pair of sleek trousers, a blazer and a pussy bow blouse. Briefcase optional.

Hope you’ve been keeping up with Kourtney Kardashian because the oldest sister in the reality TV clan has really been nailing this cool partnership of late. Belting a denim jumpsuit with utilitarian details at the waist, she slipped her petite frame into heeled mules instantly elevating her outfit from casual to fashion forward. Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine is another repeat offender, but she’s a bit bolder in her mule choices, opting for jewel toned satin rather than plain white leather. We’re all well-versed in how versatile jumpsuits and dungarees are but, as these stylish women prove, mules are an effortlessly great way to dress them up without looking too try hard.

Heeled or flat, open or closed toed, any type of mule can work provided you have the right trouser length. We’d recommend ankle length or higher- all the better to showcase your backless shoes- and a frayed hem, decorative heel or unusual mule vamp will make all the difference. Don’t fuss about the fit: just choose your most flattering style, one you feel comfortable in. That way you can match and clash colours to your heart’s content. Black and white project modernity together, one-tone dressing is currently trending, and metallics go with pretty much everything.

Berets are seriously trending at the moment but the truth is that they have been around for a long time. They are one of those undeniable timeless pieces and have long been associated with style icons like Brigitte Bardot and Twiggy.

Nowadays style influencers like Pandora Sykes, Yoyo Cao and Miroslava Dumas as well as big time celebrities like Rihanna and Adwoa Aboah are bringing back and thus cementing the popularity of the beret. The beret has also been linked to the French elegance and sense of style but this time the Parisian je ne sais quoi got a makeover.

A surge of berets has popped up recently from designers and high street retailers alike. Take Maria Grazia Chiuri, for example, the Creative Director at Dior who commissioned milliner Stephen Jones to design leather berets.

Berets have also become sort of a staple piece at Gucci. Alessandro Michele has expanded on the classic black beret by introducing a variety of bright colours, and most unlikely textures. And even after this season's Cybord extravaganza the classic allure of the beret remained stronger than ever

Whatever your style and mood this season amp up your look with a cool sleek beret.

Browse through our exclusive edit of the best high street and designer berets on the market below!

We’re just as excited to discover the runaway and  streetstyle trends when Fashion Month rolls around and New York Fashion Week AW18 hasn’t disappointed so far. We spotted inspired ways to style boxy tailoring, daytime sequins, plastic raincoats, look-at-me colour and more so far from Susie Bubble, Camille Charriere et al, but we’re most taken with how ubiquitous a belted waist is. Almost, if not, every day we’ve spied a belted coat (trenches are trending), or a statement strap pulling an otherwise ordinary outfit together with polish. And if you thought we’d reach peak belt bag, think again. Only sporty bum bags have been replaced with ladylike purses.

The best thing about this easy streetstyle trick is that you probably have a belt or belt bag in your wardrobe already that you can use. Don’t be afraid to clash tones and textures, the more unexpected the better to really get in on the action; and a corset belt will give your outerwear a dramatic new dimension. Let your belt bag whittle your waist, rather than buckling it on the hip or over one shoulder, as you’ll leave your hands free and create the illusion of an hourglass figure. That's flattering on everyone.

Shop our edits of the best belts, belt bags and belted coats below so you can trial the trend now.

We never thought there would be a time when we yearned for more snow but, after seeing some star influencers frolicking on the slopes via their instagram feeds, we are. It’s ski season and the uniform du jour? Perfect Moment skiwear. Now the #jetaporter and #thenetset hashtags captioning the pictures of Linda Tol, Alice Casely-Hayford and co make it clear that these images are part of an elaborate and very enviable marketing scheme. In other words, these women may have been paid to wear this brand on what looks like one hell of a press trip but we don’t care. These graphic styles look so great we’re sold and others like Jane McFarland and Monica Ainley have given Perfect Moment their own stamp of approval by wearing it organically.

Statement coats are all the rage so a Perfect Moment jacket definitely wouldn’t be out of place on the street. In fact, you’d be positively toasty, and maybe even a little smug, that your bold puffa is made from a superior, insulating material and few other people will have the same. Ski jumpers are also trending so why don’t you wear a real one by a specialist ski brand with fresh motifs rather than a purely fashion-y one? The ski trousers or salopettes are best left for ski trips but don’t overlook those wool jumpsuits- they’re the chicest, sleekest luxury onesies we’ve seen and ideal for lounging around at home.
