Denim has historically been one of the most flattering fabrics for both men and women. Its unique versatility factor puts it front and centre for the high street and the high end. The level of creativity for 2018 is uncompromising and can range from a pile of patches acting as jeans to exaggerated forms that can be styled in completely unexpected ways. Look out for lots of cutouts, embroidery, patches and variety in hemlines in our top picks below!

CUTOUTS
#262626">
#262626">Take your cues from Kendall Jenner by styling a cut-out midi denim skirt with a silk spaghetti strap top. Finish the look with a vintage pair of 90s inspired sunnies and an equally grungy pair of mules for an edgier outfit.

MODEL OFF DUTY JEANS
#262626">
#262626">Super tight skinny jeans have morphed into straight cut styles that are comfier and define the silhouette without being constraining. Gigi Hadid and sister Bella were spotted sporting a more laid-back option: layers of denim. To achieve Gigi’s London Fashion Week off-duty look, the model layered chambray and yellow plaid button-downs with a long, frayed denim vest, then stunned with white and light blue layered, cropped jeans.

STEP HEM

If you really want to nail the 2018 denim look then look no further than the step hem, which shows no signs of stopping since last season. You can thank Vetements for the much needed innovative twist! #262626">If you don't have the Vetements budget, why don't you DIY and give one of your pairs a makeover by staggering the edges.Look below for other affordable options. The great thing about the step hem is that you can style it as you please while showing off your shoe.

TRIPLE DENIM

Canadian tuxedo has many retro connotations that range #262626">from Dolly Parton to Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears circa 2001.Nowadays you can triple or quadruple your denim by wearing contrasting shades or denim thickness. Play with proportions and juxtaposing materials for the most impressive results.

FRINGING

For the past three years, tassels and fringes have been put front and centre everywhere from Zara to Anthropologie, without any signs of abandoning the limelight. #262626">The trend's evolved so you don't have to stick to your frayed jeans necessarily. Pick up a fringed mini skirt with fringes, a distressed denim jacket or opt for a pair of uber cool denim sandals finished with tassels. One of our favourites is a distressed denim blouse with a frayed hem courtesy of Marques’ Almeida.

EMBROIDERED

The obvious option here is springtime florals. From rock n roll roses to funky pineapples even quotes make for a super stylish way to decorate your favourite pair of jeans this summer.

PATCHWORK

You can try clashing similar blue tonal panels or play with different sizing by assembling large squares with minuscule patches on the jeans taking cues from Eva Chen and Kendall Jenner. Experiment with positioning pockets in unexpected places or colours. If DIY is not your calling, don't worry. Just browse through our selected edit of denim items and shop your favourite items now!

Lisa is an accountant living in San Fransisco with her boyfriend and son. She's also the blogger behind Cosmetic Sanctuary. An online destination covering cosmetics and hair care and a very dedicated section on nail polish.

Chelsea King is a nail art superstar. She has tended to the nails of celebrities like Katy Perry and Jessie J, while she was named Global Nail Artist for Revlon last year. According to enthusiast Kylie Jenner, Jessica Washick "uses color and negative space like no one else". Apart from being a celebrity and session nail tech, and a contributor to NAILPRO she's also a Color Designer for Nike and the creator of the U Don't A Man, U Need A Manicure Tumblr, where you can find her work.

Although you can find her tutorials and howtos on her YouTube, this nail art insider showcases her craft on Facebook. Her niche artwork is intricate gradients and complex marbling. If you’ve found yourself sweating in your winter coat recently or soaked through after a sudden downpour, it may be time to get a raincoat. Not an umbrella that’s easily lost on the tube and stands no chance in gale force winds; plus they’re also kind of annoying to hold when wet and sans bag to stash it in. Indeed, these lightweight saviours may be better associated with festival style but they really come into their own at this time of year when it’s still cold but slightly too warm for heavy outerwear. As lovely and cuddly as faux fur is, it definitely isn’t waterproof and can shed coloured hair all over your all-black look.

These raincoats are thin, waterproof outer layers that sit on top of all of the others- statement knits, hoodies, thermals, even a leather jacket- to keep you dry rather than warm. And better yet, some of them can even fold into small bags that fit into your handbag. We see no reason not to wear a raincoat everywhere as we transition into Spring and how we’re doing it this season is outlined below.

Shop our favourite raincoats for work, weekend and wedding below.

Let us start by wishing the Pisces people of the world a happy birthday! Perhaps the most famous and iconic Pisces around right now Rihanna, who has the zodiac symbol tattooed on her neck, turned #dirtythirty this week and commemorated the occasion by releasing limited editions of her best-selling Fenty Beauty highlighter Trophy Wife. And fellow Pisces Justin Beiber will surely celebrate with on-again girlfriend Selena Gomez when his birthday comes around. We’re bringing this up because the qualities dreamy Pisces seem to share are sensitivity, imagination and compassion, according to Susan Miller, which may be worth keeping in mind when picking their birthday gift. This water sign’s symbol is two fish tied together swimming in opposite directions which is why pet fish, anything with a fish motif or water-related may be well appreciated.

There are Pisces cards and so much thematic jewellery to update their jewellery boxes with in whatever shade of gold, stone, style or motif they like best. Charms are cool because they can be attached to styles they already own and the earrings we’ve seen will be great additions to their everyday uniform. And if you really want to spoil them, and you know their shoe size, head to Moda Operandi to pick out an exclusive pair of red soled Christian Louboutin with their initials, date of birth, zodiac symbol and constellation embroidered on the body in metallic thread. For their home, what about a colourful fish print for their wall, a mug for their tea, a fish print laundry basket or even a Pisces pillow?

Fashion Week has arrived in London and it isn't disappointing so far. Mulberry took to the runway, elegant as ever, and oh how in love I am. It's hard to choose a favourite S/S18 handbag because obviously I want them all. After some serious section-making have chosen just one to share. This is the Lynton. Cute and poised, as the brand always is. I love the structure of this bag, the scrunch at the top makes it pouch-like. It's casual enough to look effortless during the day but it's still beautiful enough to be taken for dinner. I implore to check out the whole range it is stunning. Image: Mulberry.com

Everyone knows that there have been two hats stealing the season. The first, of course, is he berry. A classic European hat that we will never tire of. The second is a noughties classic that has come back into our fashion-lives quite suddenly: the baker boy hat. Structured with a small visor but fun round top. I was skeptical about this style of hat for a while, I wasn't sure if it was something only a few people could pull off. I think (I hope) I was wrong. I've seen this hat worn so many different ways, with a casj jeans outfit and with cute floral dresses - it seems to go with everything. Image: #ASOS

One of the biggest trends that emerged from NYFW was tweed. Tweed is rough, naturally waterproof and woollen perfect for that country house attire. But it's much more than traditional countryside style staples, it has evolved into an item of everyday attire. Blended with long paisley dresses or chunky knits, tweed is your go-to item that combines British heritage and modern flair. The Harris Tweed coat by Adam Lippes referencing Scotland is having a major moment.

He crafted a series of beautiful grey tweed finished with an overlay of lace. It was tweed in general that made its way across New York Fashion Week. Alexander Wang utilised a blush pink teddy bear material. Raf Simons at  Calvin Klein focused on oversized dreary old man tweed coats worn over floor-skimming dresses.

The Olsen twins referenced a school-girl look cut in long pleated skirts and matching long jackets. Tweed is not meant solely for the Autumn/ Winter period.

The tweed jacket is the perfect transitional piece for Spring. The season that bridges the gap between two temperatures presents some sartorial challenges especially when it comes to outerwear.

Pair your tweed jacket with equally adept to traditional weather clothing such as a leather skirt, leather boots, or a cardigan knit. Wear your tweed coat with a long flowy dress and a pair of boots. The breathable material allows you to stay as warm or breezy as you like according to the weather's tantrums.

Finally, sport your tweed trousers with a cropped top and a leather jacket to keep the warm/ chilly equilibrium to the desired status. Are you ready to incorporate tweed into your everyday attire?

Chinese new year starts today and this weekend in London  like in many parts of the world  there will be a slew of series of colourful events in  and around Chinatown. The carnival of parades, martial arts displays and family experiences will celebrate the year of the Dog. The allure of the oriental trend is nothing new but this year designers really embraced the opulence and exoticism of the far east craze.

Jacquard embroidered bomber jackets, oriental prints, Kyoto garden florals and kimonos were all seen on the catwalks. Just in time to celebrate the Chinese New Year! From top designers Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana to your favourite high street brands Ted Baker, PrettyLittleThing and Stradivarius, we are seeing signs of Shanghai nights everywhere. From dramatic oriental prints on silk, to dragons, tigers, floral embroidery and bags garnished with animalia hardware.

The orient trend offers an amazing way to look astonishingly elegant and glamorous. If you don't necessarily want to stop traffic but still like a touch of the Far East go for one statement piece such as a slinky floral dress, a pair of gold earrings or silk kimono robe.

Indulge in our exclusive edit of our must-have orient-inspired pieces below and shop your favourites!

One fashion week down, three to go. If New York Fashion Week felt a little bit under-the-radar this season, maybe it’s because designers largely eschewed fanfare for fanfare’s sake in favour of ultimately very wearable clothes for every type of women. From the Tom Ford’s glamazons and the modern minimalists at The Row to the arty sophisticates that Nanushka and Rosie Assoulin colourfully cater for, this sentiment was backed up by the diversity of the FROWs (Cardi B seated next Anna Wintour was one memorable moment) if not necessarily the models. Even the streetstyle set seemed less dramatic in their looks, turning to the tried-and-tested winning formula of a statement coat and bag, with jeans or skirts just seen, and boots (teeny-tiny sunglasses optional) as they paraded from show to show. Caroline Issa, Lisa Aiken and Susie Bubble pulled together some of the most notable. After sifting through countless runway pics, the five shows with the looks we’ll be adding to our wishlist and Pinterest boards pronto are below. In no particular order.

As none of these were ‘see now, buy now’, shop our edit of their current collections below! The collections mentioned are in the gallery above.
