From modern Miami apartments to London’s art deco dens, metallics are back on our interiors radar for SS18. We love the precious metals trend and to be honest, we’re pleased it’s here to stay.

Filling your home with accessories that sparkle and shine can be tricky – you don’t want to go overboard and end up with Santa’s Grotto, nor do you want to go too low key and risk your luxe touches being overlooked.

We’ve put together a list of useful tips on how to work the metallic trend in your home – whatever your room size, taste or budget…

Mix your metals

More is more with precious metals so don’t be afraid to mix warm tones like coppers and yellow golds together. Similarly, cool colours like silver and white gold work wonders when paired in the same room.

A trick of the light

Elevate your shimmering additions by placing them near bright windows and cosy lamp-lit corners. This way, your metallic pieces will help to lend the room a wonderful sense of depth and texture. Copper-framed mirrors are great for this.

Perspective is everything

If you can’t quite commit to a copper coffee table, try grouping rose-gold accessories together to create the illusion of a larger presence in the room. If, on the other hand, you’re ready to go big, let your metallic furniture speak for itself and avoid crowding it with other metallic pieces.

Be yourself

You can find just about anything in gold, silver and copper tones so pick out pieces that reflect your personality and use our styling tips to lend your room a luxe touch.

Want to try the precious metals trend for yourself? Explore our edit below…

We love those rare moments of pure fashion optimism, like the one we're seeing now: designers are presenting bold colourful rainbow patterns in defiance of all-black everything. From '70s - inspired T-shirts and hoodies to technicolor skirts and show-stopping striped dresses. So during your spring clean this season, consider an influx of rainbow-patterned pieces to update your look and put a smile on your face.

Wondering what rainbow-inspired items to buy?

We've compiled a comprehensive checklist with all the colourful pieces to shop now...

Straight from the runway

Take cues from Peter Pilotto and Dolce & Gabbana SS18 and adopt a bold, bright rainbow-hued wardrobe full of statement dresses, T-shirts and accessories.

The knit

Invest in a rainbow knit that will take you from the colder temperatures into spring and summer with ease.

The pants

Go for a sporty iteration with a pair of white trousers with flattering rainbow-hued stripes – a cool twist on the trending tuxedo pant of last year.

The technicolor skirt

For an extra dose of swag go for a sparkly version of a rainbow shaded skirt. We agree the with Alice + Olivia's motto that The World Needs More Sparkle, indeed.

That '70s tee

Opt for a rainbow striped t-shirt or a bright patterned piece for colourful retro vibes.

The unapologetic bag

Who says a handbag has to be monochrome? Instead, use your bag as a decorative accessory featuring rainbow stripes – the bolder the better.

A spectrum of hues

Heading off on an early summer vacay? Invest in a colourful striped one-piece swimsuit and make it pop by adding white accessories.

Editor's choice: Hesitant to try the trend? Then go for some rainbow-inspired accessories – earrings, pendants, bracelets and rings that will infuse your look with playful attitude.

Head to our gallery for more inspiration and shop your fave pieces from our exclusive edit below...

It's back. The festival that created its own unique dress code is returning this weekend and if you're one of the lucky show goers we have a few tips for you. Packing for Coachella doesn't have to be a daunting task. You don't need to acquire a Native American headdress to impress. In fact, avoiding fancy dress and going for a chicer approach will make more of a statement. So assuming, you’ve already sorted out your luggage, we’ll help you with the packing.

Do's and don'ts when packing for Coachella…

Don't bring a one-piece

Jumpsuits and bodysuits look cute but they’re a no-no at a festival, as you'll be stuck in long toilet cues and you'll have to change in and out of your one-piece. Instead, go for the simpler version with a bralette, cut-off jean shorts and western-style booties.

Do light layering

Considering you'll be faced with the adverse weather of the desert, see-sawing between high and low degrees it's best to resort to layering. Wear your swimsuit top, with a flowing skirt or denim shorts, your booties and a kimono or denim jacket for after dark.

Do practical bags

Backpacks and cross-body bags are your safest bet come festival season. You can store larger items with ease: say your water bottle, SPF, phone and deodorant while leaving your arms and hands free to fist pump and dance the night away.

Don't do sandals

We know the model pack often strolls the California polo fields in sandals which looks adorable during the day but not so practical during the gigs. Instead, go for cute white sneakers or ankle boots that will elevate your outfit and keep your toes safe at the same time.

Do glitter make up

Add some extra sparkle by adopting the festival look without going full unicorn. Some stick-on gems, glitter eyeshadow and shimmering lip balm will leave you looking fresh and ready to party. Avoid heavy eyeliners and dark eyeshadow as they tend to smudge in the heat.

Editor's Pick: Add a dab of self-tan before you hit the festival for an extra glow. Just remember to wash your hands immediately after applying it and stay away from stain-prone clothing like your whites and crochet bikini tops.

Now you're done and ready to party the weekend away! See you in the fields…

Ice cream chic is a now thing and well before gelato season. Fashion's affinity for the pastel pile-up from the cones to the runway took the form of head-to-toe violet at Victoria Beckham, lemon sorbet at Hermés and pistachio hues at Sies Marjan and it's our Instacrush of the week.

At Helmut Lang, Shayne Oliver took blushing pink and morphed it into its adversary: fetishwear, while Raf Simons at Calvin Klein took baby blue babydolls and turned them into a Rosemary's Baby sinister version. This playfulness aesthetic came about at a year that yearns for aggressive celebration. Winter's metallics, feathers, glitter, rainbows and all round sparkle surrounding a Buz Luhrmann movie set, is the perfect testament to the celebratory moto.

Feel good fashion also was translated into pencil skirts and sheer layers that we can wiggle and shimmy in. Our staples like our trench coats, faux fur coats slip dresses and boots are receiving the joyful reincarnation of their own. Embellishments, diamonds, broaches, and lavish bandanas that would make any fashion girl sigh.

Stockholm Fashion Editor and street style extraordinaire Jeanette Madsen is an ice cream hue aficionado. She has the engaging ability to effortlessly combine pastel shades and evading the baby connotations at the same time.

This Spring more so than ever is about comfortable elegance. Fashion designers have tapped into our need for practical clothing that are equal parts chic and responds to our ever demanding lifestyle. This motto explains the rise of the embellished trainer. This micro trend has kept us conflicted as an item that you either hate or absolutely love.

Apart from the obvious comfort factor, there's a very distinct cool aesthetic infused to the trainer, in the sense that you just don't care so much about what you put on your feet but then the embellishment adds that surprise glam detail, that draws the entire outfit together. The third pro for obtaining a pair of embellished trainers is its versatility. Due to its duality as both a smart casual choice of footwear and also as an urban staple, you can wear it with almost anything hanging in your wardrobe:

For an everyday daytime outfit wear a white pair of embellished sneakers with a pair of oversized denim jeans, a fitted sweater, a cool scarf for colour and your trench coat of choice. Add some accessories for an extra sparkle effect.

For an athleisure look pair your glitter footwear with a pair of leggings, a cropped top, a hoodie and a leather jacket. Opt for a backpack that shares colours and details from your trainers to make your look more cohesive.

For a fun night out with the girls when you know you'll be dancing the night away, pair your comfy sparkly sneakers with an LBD, a sequinned jacket, and a tiny clutch. Add some sparkle to your make up and enjoy your night heel-free!

Blair Waldorf wore a lot, and I mean a lot, of great outfits in her seven seasons on screen. One outfit that just cannot be beaten, however, is her wedding dress (the second one - although technically third for those of you who, like me, are diehard fans and remember the first wedding dress). This Ellie Saab dress was absolutely stunning. The pastel blue looked beautiful on Leighton/Blair and there was an incredible amount of sparkle that wasn't too glitzy. The headpiece absolutely completes the outfit. I could just stare at this look all day. Image: Rex Features

Over the past two rounds of fashion month, one recurring beauty trend we've spotted on the runways are graphic manicures; whether they've been bold and colourful or slick and monochromatic, there's a myriad of ways in which graphic and minimalist nails can be done.

From a dot to a line, a simple detail, this manicure was on every show: Opening Ceremony, Kate Spade, 3.1 Phillip Lim... you name it. Every colour is yours to play with, but our favour goes to black and metallic designs. And no need for a professional, you can try it yourself with a hair pin or pencil point dipped into nail polish before applying it to your nails. This minimal manicure won't let people indifferent.

If you're more into plain colours, this season trend is all about lilac, following the colour of the year Ultra Violet. From head to toes, you can embrace this soft, pastel colour, for a smooth entry into Spring.

And last but not least, metallic and glitter nail polishes are always there to bring some sparkle in your outfit. Shiny and glamorous make-up and outfits should not be limited to Christmas and Red Carpet, everyday should be a party, and that small fantasy will be the trick. And if you don't feel confident enough to rock a full sparkly manicure, an accent nail is an original way to embrace the trend.

Along with the winners and the losers on the red carpet, everyone was excited to see the gowns. Australians Nicole Kidman arrived in a cobalt blue Armani Privé dress, while Margot Robbie went for an elegant off-the-shoulder white Chanel dress.

Following on a season where black was the trend on the carpet it was nice to feast our eyes on some colour and sequins dominating the Red Carpet. Speaking of red there were many ladies that opted for crimson red including Best Actress nominee Meryl Streep and Best Actress in a supporting role winner, Allison Janney for her portrayal as Tonya Harding's mother, in "I, Tonya".

Other exceptional appearances include Saoirse Ronan in a blush pink gown by Calvin Klein, with Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewellery. As for sequins, Jennifer Lawrence infused a 20s aesthetic to her Christian Dior gold dress, while Lupita Nyong'o sparkled in a gold Atelier Versace gown.
