You probably heard about the controversy surrounding one of H&M’s kids slogan hoodies earlier this month by now. Which got us thinking about the perils of wearing a seemingly innocent slogan without considering the repercussions. Because as that story showed, you might not be offended by the message spelled out but other people who see you in real life and/or on social media in it might be and they could aggressively confront you about it. Swear words (disguised or not) and double entendres are most problematic as you have no idea of knowing what meaning individuals place of different words or phrases. On the other hand, why should you and your clothing be censored? One of fashion’s fundamental principles is freedom of expression and we are lucky enough to live in a country where we can wear what we want. While there are lines that shouldn’t be crossed (nothing discriminatory, racist, homophobic, sexist etc), you should be able to wear your sense of humour or thoughtfully share your opinion should you wish.

As a general rule of thumb, though, we’d say if you’re in doubt, don’t wear it out. Stick to the positive, easy-to-laugh at, empowering and motivational phrases that are sure to spark a smile or provoke conversation. Also be sure that you believe in and stand by what your hoodie says as you will be judged by it. Dior arguably sparked the new wave of slogan clothing with their ‘We should all be feminists’ t-shirt, inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s powerful Ted talk and essay, and printing or embroidering words on a warmer hoodie is a winter-perfect upgrade.

We’ve rounded up our favourite slogan hoodies for women, men and children for you to shop in our edit below.

There's no need to forget about the holiday spirit just after Christmas day. Many people suffer from post-holiday blues because of all that hype leading to one day alone. But in reality, even if there are no more presents under the Christmas tree there's no reason you can't extend the celebration period.

Invest in cosy statement knitwear that makes you smile. Winter clothing is by definition less colourful unless we're talking about Christmas sweaters. So why not take the chance and invest in a few warmers that make you feel all "Christmasy" inside?

Speaking of warmers there's nothing like having friends over and catching up over a cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows. Put a little more effort into it by making the house seem cosier. Add lighting and decorations.

Finally, there's nothing like cooking with friends. Open up a new recipe book and have a stay-at-home dinner with your best friends, family or loved ones. Just make sure you know who is responsible for the dishes.

Head to our gallery for more inspiration and shop the best masks in our expert edit below.

This week Shopcade profiles Giorgina Clavarino, the influencer with the very poignant blog name entitled “Giorgina With an Eye”. The former Business school student talks to us about her dream closet, her collab with the playful Mira Mikati brand as she takes us through her morning routine and the elements that define her eclectic sense of personal style.

What compelled you to start a blog? I’m a hyperactive person, so unless I have 100 things to do I am not satisfied with what I have accomplished at the end of the day. The search for new challenges is what made me start my Fashion blog. In 2014, I was finishing my studies at Cass Business School in London and had lots of spare time, so I decided I would actively fill it up with something I was passionate about. I knew my studies at Cass were important because I’ve always dreamed of starting a business of my own one day. I also missed being more creative and having an outlet where I could just share what I loved, which is what my blog became. I had been following The Sartorialist for quite some time, and I loved how he shared photographs of street style in NY and loved how inspirational it was. I think this is what gave me the inspiration and the courage to test myself by starting a blog of my own, to share what I loved too!
#222222">
#222222">What's your relationship with fashion? How did it start and what motivates you to keep at it? I grew up in Milan, so fashion flows in everyone’s blood there. When you grow up in a city which is one of the world’s fashion capitals, you are indoctrinated with fashion from a young age. This probably explains why I was so into fashion since I was about 5. There is always the expectation to be flawless and up to speed with trends all the time. #222222">I think that the person that influenced my style the most however, has been my mother. She has always been a bit of a hippie, which is why since I was 10 I’ve loved wearing Minnetonka, boot cut jeans and have messy beachy hair. #222222">I remember my mother always used to buy stacks of magazines we would flick through together and rip off everything we loved and then make huge collages that I still have hanging in my bedroom in Milan. This then led to me creating my own scrap books, which I considered to be my own bespoke ‘Vogue’ editions, that my friends loved flicking through. The blog was then the evolution #222222">of the scrap book – a virtual version that I could share with more people. What keeps me going is my love for fashion. I know it sounds cheesy but it’s the truth. The creativity, the work, the influences that go behind the fashion industry, the way that you brand your products, the packaging, how you photograph it, the visions of the designers, the styling of the stylists, all the processes from beginning to end inspire me daily and are what motivates me to turn on my blog for a couple of hours a day and write something personal that made me think, laugh, smile, inspired that I want to share with other people.
#222222">
#222222">How would you define your personal style? Do you have any icons people accounts that you follow? When I moved to London my style changed a lot. I love Italian style, but it’s often too timeless and never too daring. Exactly the opposite of what I am, I always love wearing flamboyant clothes, whether it’s wearing a funky hat, a colourful pair of trousers, glittery shoes, or socks. In London you are more liberal, you can experiment with styles and are constantly influenced by different street styles, which in fact are my major influence. I love what people are wearing in the streets, I look at photographs and often attempt to recreate with my twist on what they are wearing. I love doing lots of stuff myself too, whether #222222">its dissembling an old pair of Levi’s, or sewing things onto jackets, designing my own jewellery. My other influences are Frida Kahlo, because I loved how colourful and exuberant her style was. She wasn’t afraid of being different, or better, of being herself. Jane Birkin, as she taught me how to look effortlessly cool with a simple pair of jeans and blouse. Kate Moss, because she always risked and wore the sickest clothes, from leather pants to colourful coats. And finally, to be more contemporary, #222222">I love ‘The Man Repeller’ and Leandra Medine. It’s an account I closely follow on Instagram, as I love how she combines clothes and never takes herself too seriously.
#222222">
#222222">What do you enjoy most about mixing and matching high street with high-end clothing?Proving that style goes beyond the brands you are wearing.
#222222">
#222222">How did the collab with Mira Mikati come about in Winter Wonderland? What are your favourite items from the latest collection and how would you style them? When I saw the collection I immediately imagined them to be captured in Winter Wonderland. Her clothes are so colourful that I wanted to put them in a fun and #222222">cool environment, that I could camouflage myself in. Every piece of Mira Mikati is very exuberant and colourful, so I would style them as I did on Instagram, with a simple pair of jeans to make the coats and jumpers stand out. I love colours in winter, but you must find a balance, so that the focus goes on the hero piece you are wearing e.g. the faux rainbow coat, or a yellow coat.
#222222">
#222222">Can you give us 3 styling rules that you abide by?
#222222">
#222222">1. Mom jeans

2. A pair of ‘70s converse that will go with almost everything

3. A lipstick that lifts every outfit
#222222">
#222222">Whose closet would you raid if you had the chance? Probably Leandra Medine.
#222222">
#222222">What's the biggest misconception about having your own blog? That it’s easy!
#222222">
#222222">What's your morning routine? I never wear lots of make-up, as I am too lazy and always too late to spend too much time on it. When I wake up though I always wash my face with Clinique Anti-Blemish Solution face wash, then clean my face with Kiehl’s Cucumber Herbal Toner and apply Clinique Anti-Blemish hydrant visage. I then add a very thin layer of Light Wonder by Charlotte Tilbury to give that fresh glow for the day and a bit of waterproof mascara by Eyeko. To finish I spray a bit of Twilly d’Hermes to be perfumed all day. I usually then have breakfast at work, which is either salmon on toast and a cappuccino or bread and Nutella. Life is too short to eat healthy all the time, especially in the mornings!
#222222">
#222222">What projects are you working on now? Big projects are still TBC! So stay tuned to discover more in 2018!

What if we're just a week away from Christmas, with temperatures hitting new lows and making us reach for the saul before reaching for our toothbrush in the morning? Sunglasses are a year-long habit that can really make an outfit or at least give it character. And you know it too. Our Insta feeds have been buzzing with a new set of sunnies that instantly make us smile and add an undeniable 50's vibe to our entire look. We're talking about the heart-shaped sunglasses.

Influenced by the surge of the YSL heart-shaped numbers many brands have created great alternative versions that are more affordable. When it comes to choosing a rug for the living room or bedroom can be quite daunting and the deciding factors vary. The size, style, colour, weave of the rug but also your needs and size of the room you like to place the rug will inform your choice of carpet. But don't worry it's time to make your living room warm and cosy without breaking the bank.

Here are the main factors you need to consider:

Best fibres

Wool carpets are very durable and warm, so perfect for winter. Polypropylene is very resistant to staining and wear. Polyester is very resistant to fading and easy to dry while jute is a natural fibre rug and work well in rustic style interiors.

Your Personal Needs

So you've picked the right fibre, but what is the purpose of your living room rug? Are you anchoring some furniture, placing it in the centre or unifying the room?

What's your Household like?

You have to decide on a rug that best fits your lifestyle and household. Even if the design is great if the rug isn't practical than it won't work.

What's your space like?

If you'd like to sit on the floor than you should aim for a thick carpet, if you just want to decorate the room, thickness doesn't matter.

What's your style?

Lastly, you may want to think about your personal style and combination in your flat. Are you more into classical off-white surfaces because bold colours suffocate you. Or are you looking for funky bright designs that make you smile?

Still undecided? Take a look at our gallery for more inspiration and shop your favourite rug styles from our edit below!

Why can't we get that Saturday feeling all week long? That was the inspiration behind this post. We tend to give a special annotation of significance to the weekend and Saturday specifically as the leisure of doing as we please and hanging out with friends elevates it to an even with importance. But what if we didn't go through life dragging ourselves through the week for that day and treated each day with the same attitude. And though we can't do much about altering work schedules and deadlines there's much to be done about our outfits aka the way we dress. This season designers declared a never ending party season over the gloomy sociopolitical events clouding our minds and psyche.

Conversely, they're adding a lush influx of shimmy, glitter and a truly optimistic mindset that trumps (pun unintended) over the dreary. We don't suggest you hit the office in a 1920's flapper dress in stiletto heels, heavy makeup and pearls but you can definitely amp up your weekday attire to Saturday happy status.

Choose a bold floral pattern which speaks volumes of pure Saturday optimism. Head to the floral aficionado Ted Baker for an ultra feminine and sparkly take on the winter bloom trend!

Go for a pair of futuristic metallic boots, and pair them with your business suit and a bold red lip. Sport a chunky luxe knit over a long slip dress, or skirt and add a sparkly necklace that will make you smile from 9 to 5.

Opt for a statement knit with intricate details, striped or sparkly over your denim jeans and pair it with ankle boots. If you're too hesitant to try glitter pieces at work stick to accessories that will infuse your personal Saturday happy all week long!

Browse through our gallery for more inspiration and shop all the Saturday happy essentials from our exclusive edit below!
